Having a breakdown over oat milk. Please help!

I need some mass power here. Someone please help an autistic woman out here. This is a huge deal and having a significant impact on me right now - although I recognise it's trivial.

Aplro have changed the colour of their oat milk packaging from a cream/beige colour to blue. The milk is also whiter and now separates in.my coffee whereas it didn't before.

What oat milk do you use that doesn't separate in coffee? Alpro oat is the only one I've used for a long long time.

I feel foolish and embarrassed because I know it's trivial but this is so important to me.

Califia Farms Oat Milk Barista Blend

We've tried a lot of oak milks and found this one the best.

I would avoid Oatly if possible. They're particularly unethical in a number of ways. They also recently tried to sue a small oat company local to me for having the word "oat" in the name of their oat milk. They lost unsurprisingly..!

cushioncovers · 09/09/2022 07:57

You need a barista version. It won't separate. I use oatly or callifia.

Kikifava · 09/09/2022 08:00

Alpro shhhs this is not milk from tescos is the most like cows milk I’ve ever had!

galacticpixels · 09/09/2022 08:01

I tend to like the cheapest non-barista ones best. I used to love the Tesco one but my local Tesco never gets it in anymore. I like the Aldi one.

Minor Figures is nice too. A lot of coffee shops around here use it.

TooMinty · 09/09/2022 08:03

If you are upset by packaging changes then I wouldn't recommend Lidl as they seem to change at random quite often (not specifically oat milk but other things I buy regularly suddenly look different and then I can't "see" them on the shelf...)

Sprogletsmum2 · 09/09/2022 08:05

Water, Oats 10%, Rapeseed Oil, Acidity Regulator (Dipotassium Phosphate), Minerals (Calcium Carbonate, Potassium Iodide), Salt, Vitamins (D2, Riboflavin and B12)

Those are the ingredients of Oatly Barista, I can't see what makes them grim reading?

Vegay · 09/09/2022 08:05

Another vote for Oatly barista here. It was like rocking horse shit when it came out a few years ago 🤣.

Ingredients aren't something I care about. I just need it right

I know what you mean!
I use almond milk but when it separates I want to cry!!
Also, barristas will swear blind there is no sugar in their almond milk and there always is! 😵😒

WithFlamingLocksOfAuburnHair · 09/09/2022 08:07

My favourite is Alpro Oat no added sugar and the closest alternative I use is Califa oat barista blend. I sympathise, I love oat milk in my coffee but find the taste in oat milks can vary wildly.

bravotango · 09/09/2022 08:08

We get.ours delivered from McQueens dairies - nicest I've found! Not a fan of Oatly

MRex · 09/09/2022 08:10

Oatly barista (grey) or Oatly whole milk (blue); shake before using.

Same for me, doesn’t separate in coffee. Waitrose selling the longlife version for £1.25 - use by date 2023, normal style packaging, good luck in your quest for finding what suits you 😊

AgentJohnson · 09/09/2022 08:12

OP don’t be embarrassed. I used to love a Milky Way back in the day and then they changed the recipe and that was that. I have eaten Milky Ways since but every time I do, I remember how they ruined it for me and I get annoyed. Oh and it took me a long time accept Walkers Cheese and Onion crisps being in a blue bag compared to Golden Wonder’s Cheese and Onion being in the more logical, green coloured bag.

newjobwhodisperhaps · 09/09/2022 08:13

@ChildrenOfTheQuorn It's a really good swap for the whole Oatly (which is so expensive!)

katkit · 09/09/2022 08:15

Oatly. The vanilla one is so good, although I think you might not want to hear that.

sorrynotathome · 09/09/2022 08:17

Rude Health is good.

couchcritter · 09/09/2022 08:17

Hey OP, I'm autistic too, I've trained myself to like almond milk instead, have you ever tried that? (I appreciate it's not quite what you asked and hope you do just find the thing you want, but it might be a good thing to try?)

snackcurator · 09/09/2022 08:18

Another oatly barista fan here. Don't be embarrassed. It's great you're getting so many helpful replies here

Onlinemum22 · 09/09/2022 07:24

Have you read the ingredients on Oatly Barista?? It's grim reading

Try Plenish Oat milk. It's only oat milk and a bit of salt

You'd be surprised to hear what's in cow milk, that's pretty grim!

Plant milks need added ingredients to fortify them and get the flavour/texture in hot drinks right. They're no worse than your average stock cube, jar of sauce or loaf of supermarket bread, if you consume any of those things.

AdoraBell · 09/09/2022 08:20

My DD likes the Oatly barista

hettie · 09/09/2022 08:21

Re rooted barista (its a bit of a pain to find and expensive) or if ou can get deliveries oato

nomeslice · 09/09/2022 08:22

Another vote for Minor Figures. Their organic Oat Milk is beige packaging.

HumbleApe · 09/09/2022 08:24

Does anyone know which of these oat milks are gluten free?

YellowPlumbob · 09/09/2022 08:25

Oatly Barista or Oatly whole milk here

nachoavocado · 09/09/2022 08:26

Alpro do a long life and a fridge version. Have you tried the other version? I completely understand the issue.
