I ordered 2 make up bits from eBay.
They arrived and the next day a bottle of perfume came from the same seller (worth £100)
A week has passed and the seller has been messaging me asking me if I'm going to send the perfume back.
Then saying I can see you have it as it's been signed for (I didn't sign for it)
I paid by debit card
Can she do anything ?
Would you return it?

Yes return it.
Why the hell wouldn’t you?
I can’t believe you started a thread asking if there’s anything she can do, which basically means can you get away with it? Bloody thief.

Biglipsmurphy · 01/03/2022 16:42

If it were me I would just say here's my address come and get it. I wouldn't schlep to the post office if it's her mistake.

GatoradeMeBitch · 01/03/2022 16:43

If the seller keeps ignoring her, how is she even able to send it back?

I'd send one clear message, stating that you'll send it back once postage is paid if that's not too much of a faff, or tell her dates/times that you can be home for a courier to collect. Then it's up to her, but at least you can prove you tried to resolve it.

Staryflight445 · 01/03/2022 16:43

It depends really.
Have you bought it, it’s not been signed for by you and you’re trying to pull a fast one?

Or has the seller genuinely sent you a product you didn’t buy, by mistake?

Either way, you need to send it back. If it’s the first, you are a disgrace.

Staryflight445 · 01/03/2022 16:45

Who signed for it?

peboh · 01/03/2022 16:45

Of course you need to send it back. You didn't pay for it, and it was a mistake. Somebody else may have paid for it and it ended up in the wrong parcel, meaning the seller would have to refund the customer and would be out of pocket due to not having the item to re sell. Why would you keep it?

oakleaffy · 01/03/2022 16:48

Definitely return it, but get her to pay for P&P.
How would YOU feel if you were her.

I can't believe you are even asking!
Unreal.

RegardingMary · 01/03/2022 16:56

I'd happily return it if a pre paid envelope was sent to me. But I wouldn't be paying to return something and shipped incorrectly.

If she won't pay postage then I'd bd keeping the perfume.

Lol at people calling the OP a theif - she was sent an item in error!

The error was the sellers and yes the nice/right thing to do it return it but this should be done by arrangment of the seller. I would expect the seller to email a return postage label for collect+ or similar (assuming there is local dropoff point to OP) I certainly wouldn't expect to dash straight to the post office and send it back at my own cost in this situation.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 01/03/2022 17:10

You're not a thief, it was the sellers error and she should organise the return at your convenience.
I'd message seller once saying you'll make the package available but wouldn't go out of your way to post it.

BeHappy91818 · 01/03/2022 17:12

If ignore her for a week just because of her attitude.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 01/03/2022 17:12

I'd return it

slashlover · 01/03/2022 17:12

I accidentally did this when I used to sell on ebay, I very politely asked the person to post to the correct address and paypalled them the postage and refunded what they had bought (although that was less than £5).

Staryflight445 · 01/03/2022 17:13

It’s difficult to send perfume out by accident. It has to have a special document with it doesn’t it?

Also… the seller would’ve surely noticed?
Plus… if someone sells so much how would they know they sent it to OP by mistake and not someone else?

Smells a bit fishy OP.

LampLighter414 · 01/03/2022 17:15

Ask her to pay for the return in advance. You can do this with couriers like Hermes etc. Then you just take to your local point (usually a corner shop), they'll scan a code on your phone (provided by the ebay seller), print the label and stick it on the box. Job done.

No cost to you and pretty convenient

Any other suggestions I'd turn down (e.g. you go and deal with the admin of posting and pay, for them to reimburse you).

Wow…..completely immoral. People like you really make me lose faith in human nature…

jollygoose · 01/03/2022 17:16

Why all the "thief"coments that is nasty the op is not a thief she didn`t ask for the perfume and now is inconvenienced.

user1471439310 · 01/03/2022 17:18

You had it for a week, just return.

Fredstheteds · 01/03/2022 17:23

Get onto eBay and say- then p+p back and you get a refund

tootiredtospeak · 01/03/2022 17:23

Jesus yes I would return it if they sent me P&P first.

Blossomtoes · 01/03/2022 17:25

She also shared someone’s private information with you.

What? Their address? Since when has that been private?

Has the fragrant OP returned it yet?

RockinHorseShit · 01/03/2022 17:29

You're a thief if you don't & she can report you

Spaciet · 01/03/2022 17:35

@rryyg

What if she won't pay the postage costs of me sending it back ?
I wouldn't send it back unless they paid for it. Why on earth should you be out of pocket for their error?
Spaciet · 01/03/2022 17:37

Really? Personally I think mistakes happen, instead of the seller getting arsey why couldn't they message saying please return, I have enclosed a pre paid postage label and am happy to send £1 for packaging materials?
