I ordered 2 make up bits from eBay.
They arrived and the next day a bottle of perfume came from the same seller (worth £100)
A week has passed and the seller has been messaging me asking me if I'm going to send the perfume back.
Then saying I can see you have it as it's been signed for (I didn't sign for it)
I paid by debit card
Can she do anything ?
Would you return it?

OP posts:
Branleuse · 01/03/2022 13:54

Id ask her if she could send a courier to collect it as you dont want to be inconvenienced by her mistake

MorningStarling · 01/03/2022 13:56

@QueenOfHell669

The title literally says “AIBU to keep it?” You clearly didn’t post intending to return it, but you really should. My attitude would stink too if you sat on £100 of my money for “more than a week”.
That's unfair though, the seller shouldn't have a shitty attitude immediately. The OP doesn't have to send it back until the seller asks for it. The OP doesn't have to send it back until the seller pays the postage or arranges for it to be collected.

The seller made the mistake and doesn't have the right to a shitty attitude just because the OP doesn't want to inconvenience herself or be out of pocket.

Mumdiva99 · 01/03/2022 13:56

Just ask her to send you a prepaid envelope/label with her address on it. I agree she should ask nicely and hard to see how she could make the mistake.....but....morally it needs to go back.

NarrowboatDi · 01/03/2022 13:59

But you ask if you are being unreasonable to keep it.

So answering your question

YABU

thelittlestrhino · 01/03/2022 14:00

Yes of course YWBVU to keep it. The same thing has happened to me on eBay when a parcel arrived that I hadn't ordered, only I realised what had happened before the seller did and so contacted them immediately asking how they wanted it to be returned.

KindlyKanga · 01/03/2022 14:02

Yes YABU

ILoveYouMoreTheEnd · 01/03/2022 14:07

@rryyg

I was planning on returning it It's just her attitude stank and she didn't even give me a chance to respond before she got nasty
Pants on 🔥

What perfume is it anyway?

Russell19 · 01/03/2022 14:12

Tell her you don't drive so would need a courier to collect. If she's been nasty to you then don't go out of your way.

Juno22 · 01/03/2022 14:13

So you didn't tell her for a week then she told you she knew it had been signed for. Come off it OP. You're out of order.

Namechangehereandnow · 01/03/2022 14:16

You’re out of order OP - seller made a mistake. Tell her to send a courier as a pp has suggested.

JudgeJ · 01/03/2022 14:18

@Yioeo

you are a thief
Only if she refrains from returning it, for which there is no time scale set. Theft is a deliberate act to take/accept property with the intention of permanently depriving the owner. The seller has the responsibility for its return, both packaging and costs, both of which should be sent to the OP before she returns it.
Jvg33 · 01/03/2022 14:19

Only if they agree to postage.

KeepYaHeadUp · 01/03/2022 14:19

I'm not surprised it's been a week and you haven't confirmed you're going to send it back.
Jvg33 · 01/03/2022 14:21

People are obsessed with saying the op is a thief. Op took in another parcel, it was addressed to them and opened it. That's called opening the mail. Op wouldn't have known what it was. Not quite being a thief is it?

rainbowscalling · 01/03/2022 14:21

I thought you were going to say this was from a large retailer, if that was the case I would keep.

From a small business/individual seller, I would 100% return.

betwixtlives · 01/03/2022 14:22

@rryyg

Your title says otherwise. Nasty how? Waiting for the drip feed about abusive messages from the seller Hmm
Teddybearen · 01/03/2022 14:24

The ops Aibu is “aibu to keep it?” Therefore pretty clear that she was considering keeping it and that’s why people are calling her a thief

BerthaBigBird · 01/03/2022 14:25

What perfume is it??

Teaforme123 · 01/03/2022 14:26

Why did her attitude stink? Maybe she was wondering why you hadn't been in touch to say you had it. Her mistake but you should send it back.

ExcuseeeeMe · 01/03/2022 14:26

I would tell her if she wants it back to organise a courier to your home to pick up at a time that suits you. She organises and pays them before they pick it up

Babadook76 · 01/03/2022 14:29

I agree. Why do some people have to exaggerate so much on here 🙄
Barleysugar85 · 01/03/2022 14:31

I'd say she is fine to come and collect it/ send a courier to collect it. But I wouldn't go out of my way to visit the post office as its the best part of an hour long trip.

girlmom21 · 01/03/2022 14:32

I agree - you need to return it but she needs to pay for the return.
The most sensible thing would be to tell her when you're available for her to arrange a courier to collect.

LittleGwyneth · 01/03/2022 14:34

I wouldn't go to the post office or anything as that's time out of my day, but if she wanted to arrange a courier to collect it I would facilitate that.

Beautiful3 · 01/03/2022 14:36

I would offer to return it, but only if they sent me a pre paid returns label. I wouldn't pay to return it.
