to think this vinted seller was rude?

I saw a bag on Vinted and made an offer on it. The seller declined the offer. I messaged the seller 'What price would you accept for the bag?'. She replied saying 'If you don't say hello, I will not sell it to you :)'. Then she blocked me from buying the item. AIBU to think she was rude?

On a semi connected note (sorry for hijacking) on eBay when it says ‘or best offer’ what does that actually mean?

I’ve seen some boots and a jacket I’d like and I can either wait 6 days or ‘best offer’ I don’t get it

There will be somewhere on the page that you can send your offer. Usually if they don't want to accept, they will come back with a counter offer.
Ninkanink · 09/01/2022 11:39

eBay I can do!

It means you make your best offer now - let’s say £20 over minimum bid. Then the seller gets to decide if they want to accept that offer and if they do the listing ends and you win the item.

IamGusFring · 09/01/2022 11:40

I wouldn't sell to someone who offered one euro less 😂

Ninkanink · 09/01/2022 11:40

You click on best offer and a box will come up. Put in the highest amount you’re willing to pay.

ineedsun · 09/01/2022 11:42

Thanks all!

sweetbellyhigh · 09/01/2022 11:44

I would probably block you for offering €1 less. Ugh

JabNotInArm · 09/01/2022 11:45

1 euro less isn't a big deal on Vinted surely? Things are often listed for £3-4 so if you're buying a number of items that's a decent amount off. For context I sold two items today listed at £4 each with a 10% "bundle" discount - buyer got 80p off 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yes, exactly this.
ListeningButNotHearing · 09/01/2022 11:48

It doesn't take any effort to say Hi or Hello it's just a common courtesy.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 09/01/2022 11:50

Well it would have been more polite to say hello, but I wouldn’t be worried if I was her.

WomanStanleyWoman · 09/01/2022 11:50

@Butchyrestingface

I offered 1 euro less than the item price

Why did you do that? Confused

Why do you think?

You make an offer. But if its an auction and there is no buy it now asking price, its the opposite of the vinted example. You should offer above the starting price...essentially you are offering them a price that would persuade them to end the auction early and sell to you for a guaranteed amount rather than take their chances over the next 6 days
Robertplantgoddess · 09/01/2022 11:54

I always offer lower. Normally get a - what about this price- lower than the original price and then accept. If something is 50quid ill offer 35 , they will counter offer 42 and i'll accept.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 09/01/2022 11:55

Aren't a lot of Vinted sellers teenagers? Perhaps that explains why she's keen on a greeting?

Personally, offering one Euro under the asking price is taking the 'P'? Why not just offer the amount shown?

EdenFlower · 09/01/2022 11:56

I'd have written you off as a time-waster too! You offered 1 euro under her asking price and then asked what price she would accept? How odd!!

WomanStanleyWoman · 09/01/2022 11:56

@sweetbellyhigh

Why? A key part of the concept of Vinted is the option to make offers. If you don’t like an offer, don’t accept it. Blocking anyone who makes an offer is just a quick route to never selling anything.

Have you actually ever used Vinted? Or did you just decide the OP is being a ‘CF’ for making an offer, without knowing that it’s completely standard practice?

Exactly! I think a lot of people commenting are simply wading in without ever having used Vinted themselves.
Ninkanink · 09/01/2022 12:00

It makes much more sense when it’s clear that £1 is likely to be 10-20% of the asking price.

sweetbellyhigh · 09/01/2022 12:10

@WomanStanleyWoman

Because it's so petty and tight. And in a moment someone will be along with the full price.

And I didn't say anything about CF. That's a very tired and tedious Mumsnetism that I would never use.

Marble2021 · 09/01/2022 12:10

@HoardingSamphireSaurus

1 Euro?

FFS! You sound like a nut. One of those difficult buyers who just twists and turns and makes all sorts of stupid little difficulties.

Excuse me? How the fuck does that make me a nut? The bag cost 3 euros and I offered 2 euros. So what??

Marble2021 · 09/01/2022 12:12

@AreSomeGoldfishJustDicks

Obviously you don't know how Vinted works so offering 1 euro less is not rude or "game playing" ffs.
Totally agree

Marble2021 · 09/01/2022 12:14

@SlashBeef

Why did you ask what she would accept if you'd only offered 1 euro less?! Surely the only answer is 1 euro more than your offer. I'd be a bit fed up with you too OP. It comes across as time-wasting shenanigans.
Well to be honest, I would have bought the bag full price if she had not accepted a lower offer, but since the seller was so rude she is not getting my money. The bag has been listed for two years now. No wonder no one wants to buy from that seller.

What did you expect as an answer to your second question? 2.50 Euros?

Because I wanted it for a cheaper price?? why do you think I offered less?? And no, she was not a teenager.
