to think this vinted seller was rude?

I saw a bag on Vinted and made an offer on it. The seller declined the offer. I messaged the seller 'What price would you accept for the bag?'. She replied saying 'If you don't say hello, I will not sell it to you :)'. Then she blocked me from buying the item. AIBU to think she was rude?

I favourited several items on Vinted yesterday. Two sellers have sent me offer prices, both for items priced at £4. The offers were for £3.75 and £3.50.

Should I reply to the sellers telling them how tight they are for offering such a low discount? Or should I message them back and say ‘Oh no, I wouldn’t dream of paying any less than your asking price; please have the full amount plus a shiny sixpence for your trouble’?

slashlover · 11/01/2022 15:32

If you refused the offer of £3.50 and they replied asking what you would accept then you wouldn't be just a little bit annoyed?

Bakewelltart987 · 11/01/2022 15:35

Did she not have the price listed? Drives me nuts when people ask what I would take erm the asking price unless I wrote open to offers

I don’t think you’ve read it properly. 50p was the discount they offered to me. The reason I mentioned it is to show that, despite the gasps of horror that the OP dared to try for a discount on €3, two sellers on one day thought discounts of 25p and 50p would be an enticing offer for me. People haggle over small amounts all the time, without anyone taking grave offence.

In any case, as has been said many, many times, it wasn’t the offer the seller found offensive - she took umbrage at the lack of a hello 🙄

londonrach · 11/01/2022 16:53

Why didn't you say hi and why offer so little less...you sound like you wasting her time. Yabu in this instance I'm afraid and abit rude.

Vinted items are always open to offers

@FriendshipsAreHardForMe

  1. So I can't be rude to posters who have been rude to me first? Don't make me laugh
  2. I don't care if I look tight or not. She does not have to sell the bag to me.

@slashlover Read her post properly next time

Hemingwayzcatz · 13/01/2022 15:16

She wanted 3€ for it, that’s why she listed it for 3€. Simple.

Marble2021 · 13/01/2022 15:17

@Hemingwayzcatz Actually many sellers accept lower offers. That is why vinted has the option to make an offer. Simple.

Marble2021 · 13/01/2022 15:37

@Ninkanink to get the bag for a cheaper price. why do you think?? I have had many sellers offering me their items for 1 euro less when I add the item to my favourites. It's how vinted works.

Marble2021 · 13/01/2022 15:39

@ pixie5121 Yes, I was thank you very much. Vinted is not a social interaction site. It's a sellings site.

OP posts:
Marble2021 · 13/01/2022 15:42

@ pixie5121 Go and deal with your problems then instead of posting here.

Marble2021 · 13/01/2022 15:44

@Bakewelltart987 Already posted that she had the price listed. Read the thread. Vinted items are open to offers, so that is why I made an offer. Many sellers have no problem with it.

YABU for asking IABU and then arguing with everyone who says yes, YABU.

MadeOfStarStuff · 13/01/2022 16:03

YANBU

A one word message like “price?” Or “available?” would have been rude. You asked a reasonable question, I don’t think saying hello makes a difference.

Marble2021 · 13/01/2022 18:05

@MargotMoon I am arguing with the rude comments

OP posts:
Marble2021 · 14/01/2022 15:32

@SoupDragon Well no one is fucking asking to read the thread, are they?

OP posts:
Marble2021 · 14/01/2022 15:34

@ pixie5121 Go and deal with your own problems (no money, cheating husband) then instead of posting on my thread.

OP, I'd give up. Few are RTFT, you're banging your head against a brick wall explaining vinted to them, it just does not compute to them.

Why didn't you say hi? It takes 3 seconds and comes across much friendlier.

I find "how much is it" (example) so demanding. As if the seller owes you something. It's just rude

In the same way as if you said "hi, please can you let me know how much this is?", And she answered "£2", that would also come across as short and rude, but less so as it's not the beginning of the conversation.

Its just etiquette. If you don't want to, then be prepared for some people to take offense. If you want to avoid that, then a simple "Hiya" goes a long way.

funinthesun19 · 15/01/2022 14:19

Massive over reaction from her.

I would have just answered the question and sold my item.

IcyWinterWonderland · 20/01/2022 17:05

@StanleyGreen Why don't you elaborate on that? Why exactly? Because you can not come up with an argument
