I've read about this case where John Ernest Goodier has been charged with bestiality, child pornography, drug possession and not sticking to his sex offenders conditions.

He recently goes by the name Claire. This paper refers to him as a man but many of the others refer to him as a woman.

Yes I agree. Very strange. Just why would anyone think it is acceptable. I always come back to the example of,”” if your daughter or mother …. Was in prison …….(or a hospital, /shower,/hostel, …… would you think they were safe sharing a cell/ward/bedroom with this person? No?? Of course not.,…, but some women and men are ok with other women doing exactly that!!

What difference does it make whether it's a man or a woman that allows themselves "to be penetrated by a dog" - either way it's fucking disgusting and the offender should be locked up. I honestly don't understand the fuss over whether a crime is attributed to a male or a female - a rape victim is still a rape victim, a sexual assault victim is still a sexual assault victim, the gender of the attacker doesn't change that.

It also doesn't matter if this offender ends up in a female prison as far as I'm concerned - as long as they are taken out of society then all is good. Any prisoner (male or female, in any prison) who is a threat to staff or other inmates should be placed in isolation anyway.

Let's just misrepresent everything! It's only words who cares!

A lot of people couldn’t care less about female prisoners. It’s abundantly clear from some posters on this thread. They are truly one of the most oppressed groups within our society, often in prison for petty crime to fund their drug addictions / working as prostitutes etc. high numbers of female prisoners also have a learning disability. (The other group I feel are most vulnerable in our society are people with disabilities esp learning disabilities)
They are invisible in our society and face huge trauma as well as physical danger if imprisoned with a male who has history of sexual offences / violence /both.
I will never understand how it has come to pass that a male who self ids as a woman can be placed with these vulnerable female prisoners

I don't get the whole wishing she does the time in a male prison.

Even if that poster can't see the objections from the POV of women prisoners, I'm a bit surprised they'd condone a move which might make things easier - or perhaps even somewhat enjoyable - for this man. Or is the whole 'prison is supposed to be nasty and I don't care if it's made nastier' thing something that should only apply to women but by all means let a bloke cock a snook at the system and get an easier ride?

Absolutely agree. I’m convinced there’s some psychological reasoning behind it, but the hypocrisy is sickening.

The punishment of being in prison is bring in prison. Not being raped by fellow inmates.

Or in the case of a trans (or any other minority) prisoner, being harassed and victimised by other prisoners.

It is respect for a civilised non vigilante approach to justice that requires us to ensure that even fie a paedophile, the punishment is loss of liberty, not being thrown to other violent inmates to experience violence. We cannot put our justice system in the hands of violent criminals!

But male bodies prisoners should not be in women’s prisons. They are shut up for long hours together in cells, vulnerable in showers etc.

It's certainly bizarre that anyone would do this, but I'm pretty sure the vast majority of the people on this thread are as appalled as the OP.

Most women in prison are not there for violent crime as the majority of violent crime and ALMOST ALL sex crimes are committed by men.

The reason people say things like "yeah but Rose West/Myra Hindley" is because when women commit really terrible crimes they become notorious because it's so unusual.

Women in prison are more likely to have been sexually abused, trafficked or be victims of domestic violence. If you think it doesn't really matter that they're locked up with MALE rapists because they're criminals it only demonstrates that you're a raging misogynist.
