A woman sacked for speaking up for girls safety was replaced by this person.

Girl guides are not safe for girls. AIBU?

Ok, I don't know why my posts are being hidden before they're even published. I asked if Katie Alcock was the first and included a link.

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 24/11/2021 10:01

That does look odd - have you tried reporting one and asking?

brighousepres · 24/11/2021 10:02

I’m struggling to keep up with all the names here!

Certain links or phrases trigger automated responses which hide posts until a human mod looks at them. Maybe it's that?
PumpkinGin · 24/11/2021 10:04

Are we being censored for discussing this? WTF???

Are posts being reported by the poster who wanted this discussion moved to some side board? This is about the safeguarding of underaged girls.

FlibbertyGiblets · 24/11/2021 10:06

Bit boggled by the pre mod that is going on. Perhaps we are mistaken, it's a glitch, the goblins are in town?

Lockheart · 24/11/2021 10:06

You're not being censored, it looks like that automated mod response is kicking in for certain links or phrases.

If I was to try to post about a certain off-board MN-related forum my post would be held back, for example.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 24/11/2021 10:06

A girls only organisation doesn't mean we think all men are dangerous. Similarly excluding male bodies isn't to say all male bodies are dangerous.

Exactly. Sometimes it's right for all males to be excluded from spaces where female people are vulnerable. It's not a value judgement.

There have been so many concerns raised over the years about GG's (and other organisations') unthinking acceptance of self-identification and its impact on safeguarding. Safe Schools Alliance flagged this up a while ago - worth a read (as is everything on that site!)

brighousepres · 24/11/2021 10:08

Oh hang on I’ve been censored too for posting a link. Wtf???

PumpkinGin · 24/11/2021 10:09

Phew!

I am so upset about this. My niece goes to GG. This is so inappropriate and I think that safeguarding within GG is now non-existing.

Did I get it right that the dominatrix with the gun was a senior figure in charge?

And then some posters come here and tell us not to discuss this. I have steam coming out of my ears at this point.

DrSbaitso · 24/11/2021 10:09

Assuming the link is what's tripping the alarm, it's by Katie Alcock on CrowdJustice. Perhaps because it's a fundraising page? It's just a good and full account of her story, more comprehensive than most news reports. Nobody can have reported the post, it appeared hidden as soon as it posted. I thought it might be a system error so I tried again.

Google and ye shall find.

FlibbertyGiblets · 24/11/2021 10:10

Oh right, an automated wotsit.

Let's face it women are censored generally about talking about the impact of self-identification on women's rights and safeguarding children - they are called transphobic for raising any concerns or even questions and, in some cases, are physically threatened or hounded out of their jobs. MN at least allows a bit of a platform for discussion (on the Feminism boards only!!) but with a significant amount of moderation.
Ereshkigalangcleg · 24/11/2021 10:10

It will be the crowdfunder. Not for this reason, all crowdfunder links are deleted.

You're right, it's not that the posts have been reported, it's because they contain links to certain websites. It's automatically captured by the system until a human mod has a look.
HoardingSamphireSaurus · 24/11/2021 10:11

A CrowdJustice link would make sense!

Thanks for the explanation @DrSbaitso

FlibbertyGiblets · 24/11/2021 10:12

Please don't link directly to fundraisers. This isn't a FWR thing, necessarily, those of us with long memories can recall the David and Caroline saga rinsing Mumsnetters.

Lockheart · 24/11/2021 10:12

@brighousepres

You're not being censored. Certain links aren't allowed on the boards.
brighousepres · 24/11/2021 10:13

@MsFogi thank you for highlighting this sensible site.

DrSbaitso · 24/11/2021 10:13

And then some posters come here and tell us not to discuss this.

Well, more specifically, they told us to restrict it to a section dedicated to feminism, the implication being that it wasn't important enough to get the traffic of AIBU.

Interestingly, the favoured insult for women who speak out about stuff like this (we are easy to define at times like that) includes an in-built denigration and invalidation of feminism itself.

Coincidence, I am sure.

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 24/11/2021 10:13

Yes, but we couldn't tell that until DrS came back and explained her error.

It's a timely reminder that, now we have been made newly aware, we can all take care to avoid.

MichaelMumsnet · 24/11/2021 10:13

Hi all, some posts have been hidden because we don't allow links to crowd funding sites - they're swiftly hidden because we get a fair amount of them on the site.
