To want to suddenly develope a case of tourettes in M&S cafe!!!!!!

Went into M&S for a coffee today..... my day off with no children, 2 in school, 1 in nursery.....!
In the queue ( always a queue) about 5 people in front and about 10 behind. Looked round and saw that most of those behind had an other with them , ie hubby, frien etc, then about 6 of " the others" all went and found tables.
So there we are with at leasy 6 people sitting at tables (waiting for the other halves- who are way back in the queue behind me)
The people at the front couldn't find a seat
it really drives me mad.... why can't people just wait until they have at least ordered their food or drink. i only had a coffee, iif i'd been able to find a seat I'd have been gone before some of these had even ordered.
Sorry long rant, but really p..... me ... off!!
Sorry, sorry...... just wanted to stand up in the middle of the shop and shout at all the numpties!

Actually our M&S does have separate people to take the money and do the coffee. They aren't the fastest in the world but as somebody said it is the price you pay for fresh drinks. I find that if they went any faster we wouldn't get a place. We quite often stand in the queue willing people to eat their food before we get to the checkout and it is only because we are queuing that they get time to do that!

Anyway, much rather M&S than Debenhams which always seems over priced, slow, dirty and generally nowhere near as nice.

Kathy - I don't think anybody is really moaning about those people who have to sit down rather than queue, (and that includes women with tiny babies who need feeding bfore their mother's food comes along) but there are a disproportionately large number of fit middle aged women who do it and know no shame when you give them the evil eye because you can't sit down and give your hungry and thirsty (and fed up) 4 y.o. his lunch which is bought and paid for.

jinglebells2shoessmells · 05/12/2007 15:15

you want to have this for the sake of a seat

yurt1 · 05/12/2007 15:30

Must admit I did cringe a little at the thread title.

Peachy · 05/12/2007 18:37

Oh come love, have some perspective (and a sense of appropriateness with thread titles as well)- if I can manage to wait for a seat with my 3 (2 with ASD, one who was noticeably rocking at the time) plus a tray, I am damned as well sure you could manage it- unless you are disabled or somesuch? In which case apologies. If not though YABU

TotalChaos · 05/12/2007 20:41

um are you aware that compulsive swearing is actually a very rare manifestation of tourettes syndrome? bit of a overly glib thread title.

miamla · 05/12/2007 21:16

nortynamechanger that's hilarious! she's a friend of mine! don't you worry, i'll be telling her off on your behalf!

i absolutely agree about finishing your shopping first. i am proud to say as well that if i've got loads of shopping and person behind me only has a couple, i always let them go through first! doesn't seem to happen if i've only got a few things though...

miamla · 05/12/2007 21:45

nortynamechanger

i'm afraid it was a case of mistaken identity...she hasn't been in a waitrose for at least 6 weeks!

nortynamechanger · 05/12/2007 21:48

miamla I'm off to google a pic of her now, I was sure it was Can't believe you called and asked double

nortynamechanger · 05/12/2007 21:51

Please send her my sincerest apologies, she has much better teeth that the woman I berated in Waitrose.

AwayinaMargoNooNooCribForABed · 05/12/2007 21:53

Hardly anyone reads signs! People at work are so surprised when customers pay no attention to them.

Hmm, I may start putting signs up at work, like "A please or thank you wouldn't go amiss" "Will you Pur-lease stop talking on your mobile and pay attention!" or "No, I'm not pg, just fat with big norks"

ggirlsbells · 05/12/2007 21:59

Can I rant about selfish child hating retirees.

I was in a queue for bus with ds,he was very excited as we rarely use bus and we had hoped to get on the top at the front so he could drive it.

Two couples in front of us in queue heard ds and I chatting about where he wanted to sit.
I was gobsmacked and sooo pissed off when we got upstairs and they had taken both the front seats.
Ds even went up to them ,looking forlorn .They sat there smugly ..bastards!

QuintessentialShadowOfYuleTide · 05/12/2007 22:06

Because I hate to be in your position, in a queue, with coffee / food, and nowhere to sit, I have joined the enemy. I save a place for myself with my coat, or place my shopping there.

berolina · 05/12/2007 22:09

AIBU to be a little fed up of seeing this rather ignorant thread title in active conversations?

QuintessentialShadowOfYuleTide · 05/12/2007 22:09

Yes I was wondering when somebody would say something about the extreme offenciveness of the title.

jinglebells2shoessmells · 05/12/2007 22:09

berolina YANBU i wish it would get dropped or deleted.

jinglebells2shoessmells · 05/12/2007 22:10

check back i did and yurt and peachy did. but savung seats was more important

Iota · 05/12/2007 22:11

Does it not make sense, if you are out shopping with your dh and 2 children, for 1 parent to sit at a table with the kids and shopping whilst the other queues, rather than 4 people stand in the queue getting in the way?

Kathyate6mincepies · 05/12/2007 22:12

It's only middle aged retired people they are complaining about. Apparently

QuintessentialShadowOfYuleTide · 05/12/2007 22:15

2shoes, what are you having a go at me for? Are you going to have a go at everybody who simply answered the op?

I skimmed thread as the OP was not one of great importance A long thread, I did not notice any objections, please forgive me.

I shall take leave of this thread now.

jinglebells2shoessmells · 05/12/2007 22:16

i wasn't having a go. just saying that we had commeted. why would i have a go at you?

QuintessentialShadowOfYuleTide · 05/12/2007 22:19

2shoes, you said:
"check back i did and yurt and peachy did. but savung seats was more important "

What was that, if not a "go"?

QuintessentialShadowOfYuleTide · 05/12/2007 22:20

But never mind, that is not the point, and no reason to start arguing over something so meaningless. Good night.

jinglebells2shoessmells · 05/12/2007 22:21

no no no. I was agreeing with you.
By QuintessentialShadowOfYuleTide on Wed 05-Dec-07 22:09:48
Yes I was wondering when somebody would say something about the extreme offenciveness of the title

why would i disagree with that.
i was pointing out that we had tried but. not a lot of interest.
sorry if it came out wrong.

QuintessentialShadowOfYuleTide · 05/12/2007 22:24

Oh, sorry!

I thought you had a go that I answered the OP.

My brain was on two trains, travelling fast in opposite directions, answered the op while at the same time derailling regards to makign fun at Tourettes.

jinglebells2shoessmells · 05/12/2007 22:27

so glad you came back. i wouldn't disagree with you when you are saying the same as me
