To want to suddenly develope a case of tourettes in M&S cafe!!!!!!

Went into M&S for a coffee today..... my day off with no children, 2 in school, 1 in nursery.....!
In the queue ( always a queue) about 5 people in front and about 10 behind. Looked round and saw that most of those behind had an other with them , ie hubby, frien etc, then about 6 of " the others" all went and found tables.
So there we are with at leasy 6 people sitting at tables (waiting for the other halves- who are way back in the queue behind me)
The people at the front couldn't find a seat
it really drives me mad.... why can't people just wait until they have at least ordered their food or drink. i only had a coffee, iif i'd been able to find a seat I'd have been gone before some of these had even ordered.
Sorry long rant, but really p..... me ... off!!
Sorry, sorry...... just wanted to stand up in the middle of the shop and shout at all the numpties!

Kimi, "fat arse" wasn't called for

kiera · 10/12/2007 14:27

yes been in several M&S cafes many times and always the same!

we do save a table but only cos I have 1 and 4 year olds and they have to have somewhere to sit esp the 1 year old - would wreck buggy if he ate in there...

IsawKIMIkissingSantaClaus · 11/12/2007 19:12

NOR WAS TAKING THE PISS OUT OF TOURETTES KITTY.

needmorecoffee · 12/12/2007 08:39

How would he wreck buggy? Aren't they all wipeable-down now? This is something that bugs me about wheelchairs. All fabric covered foam so should a nappy leak or dd drool (which she does like a tap) it gets pretty disgusting.
We haul dd out to feed her cos she'll choke in her chair but she can't sit in any of those high chairs they have. Don't design them for disabled babies. I don't think its crosses anyone's mind that under 5's can be disabled!
But I do sit down when dh queues cos I have MS and I also park dd's wheelchair next to me and ignore the shooting daggers looks. I look 'normal' till I stand up and wobble. Weird thing is, I get the 'looks' unless I'm in my wheelchair then no-one wants to look in case I drool on them or do something unexpected. Sometimes disability-phobia can work for one
Off to a disability rights meeting at the council today. fun fun fun but there is a free lunch and all us wheelchair users are being given a personal assistant. Which is a bit over PC by the council as we're not helpless. Never had a PA before....

kiera · 12/12/2007 09:23

no my buggy isn't wipe-downable and nor is his footmuff, can't be machine washed so have to be handwashed then drip dried. don't know many buggies that are wipe-downable. sorry about your difficulties with feeding dd tho I can't imagine how hard things must be for you. woooo a PA!

littleboo · 12/12/2007 14:16

isawkimi.... thankfully your son doesn't swear,....doesn't take after you then, and CAPITAL letters, now that must be bad. For the Last time, I was not making fun, obviously you didn't read any of the above, and ..... its moved on now.

OP posts:
needmorecoffee · 12/12/2007 17:08

you'd think they'd make buggies easily cleanable wouldn't you. its not like no-one knows children how messy toddlers are!
Handwashed!!!! eeeeeep

IsawKIMIkissingSantaClaus · 12/12/2007 21:13

Littleboo you were in the wrong, I know others pointed it out and you backed down, but I saw it and I took offence and I have a right to say so.

Oh and if I want to sat piss I can in what ever size I want to.

needmorecoffee · 13/12/2007 13:23

went into M&S cafe this morning just to see. Went and sat down too with dd while DH queued but I did make sure everyone could see my stick and dd was in her wheelchair so didn't see any tutters
getting back down the lift was another matter. Queue of 6 buggies and 12 people for one tiny lift that only takes 2 buggies.
So DH bumped dd's wheelchair down the stiars much to the store managers horror

littleboo · 13/12/2007 13:47

Needmore, given up on M&S for now, especially with christmas rush. went to Beatties this week, and amanged to find a lovely seat to put my nice svelte arse in!!!!

im sorry but i had to report this thread to MN
tourettes is not a joke for you to use for laughs

littleboo · 13/12/2007 13:55

nailpolish, it was not a joke about tourettes as i've said over and over, and did apologise if the title was particularly sensative to some. If you had read all the thread it would have saved you the trouble of reporting it, however, hope you feel better for being politically correct. i don't believe anyone is perfect and everyone makes mistakes, some people are perhaps more holy than others though

OP posts:
nailpolish · 13/12/2007 13:58

youll find im not in the least bit holy, or pc to the extreme

but i think before i open my gob/post a thread in haste

didnt you think before you clicked?

OComeOLIVEfaithfOIL · 13/12/2007 13:59

quite right

outrageous title

littleboo · 13/12/2007 14:01

nailpolish, have you read the thread, it actually ended up being about swimming pools and would have disaapeared if it had been left, as i did suggest probably would have been best AFTER I APOLOGISED. Some people are actually seeing past the title and commenting on the situation. SOME people are still having a go. Sorry but as I did apologised, I will not be doing it again.

OP posts:
nailpolish · 13/12/2007 14:03

no i havent read the thread. couldnt be arsed.

sorry

littleboo · 13/12/2007 14:04

well then, that says it all.

OP posts:
nailpolish · 13/12/2007 14:06

i think the title was enough, thanks

yurt1 · 13/12/2007 14:07

It's really not being PC to object to the thread title though. That seems to be the latest thing on mnet- to complain that someone is being PC when they object to something that is disablist (which I can't spell). It's really not PC to do that.

By which I mean its not about politically correct attitudes it's about saying that its not OK to take the piss out of disability. I know TS is more a condition that a disability, but 'conditionist' isn't a word and its happened in other threads as well -which were more obviously about disability.

Anyhow I'm off to wrap presents.....

jinglebells2shoessmells · 13/12/2007 14:10

bit rich to have a go at nailpolish.
yes people let the thread titile go. but that doesn't make it right
every time i see it I think of my freinds son who has just been dx with tourettes.
so it still pisses me off.

littleboo · 13/12/2007 14:15

yurt thought I had kind of made my peace with you?
Jingle stop coming on it then . or write to mumsnet and ask for it to be removed.

FioFio sorry slightly confused by which direction,

last time I looked I could post on what I like.

santaslittlelaurliemonkey · 13/12/2007 16:11

anyway, getting back to m and s, me and mum went in with dd today, who was absolutely knackered, so mum went and sat with dd on her lap , who promptly fell asleep. whilst i was queuing, the classic seat hogger went and sat in my seat and said to my mum, well you shouldn't be sat down yet either. grrrr. both me and woman's husband stood there, him giving apologetic looks all the time. even when a table shortly became free, she absolutely refused to move, so we, being 69, 2 and me, shifted all the stuff. grrrr
