Can’t shake the feeling that something is weird/wrong?

Since the pandemic started really..it’s all seemed strange, some points I’ve convinced myself things are normal, but it’s there deep down bugging me. I just find it all so odd, the pushing of vaccines on young people for incentives, no real discussion being allowed apart from what is presented to us. Is this normal?! Or is it me that’s not 🤷🏻‍♀️Does anyone else feel like this?

'Johnson struggles to cope when in change of an umbrella.'

That's because his lizard paws don't have opposable hands.

I mean thumbs!

@Staffy1

"I wish it wasn’t always assumed that anyone who thinks the vaccine is a good idea only does because the government says so. I don’t believe the government has individuals best interests at heart. Their priority is always the economy. But that doesn’t mean I think they’re out to kill half of us off as that wouldn’t benefit the economy."

I agree

In fairness, what he comes out with is so utterly shocking that I think he might actually be suffering from some kind of mental illness. His affirmations and "truths" are no longer those of a lucid scientist with years and years of experience, but rather those of someone suffering from some kind of psychosis at best, or, rather serendipitously, Messiah complex at worst. He is a very worrying voice which at least the relevant authorities are finally succeeding in gagging. If his lies were to be believed he'd have more blood on his hands than Boris.

Yet people post his shit. The poster z couple of comments up has fallen for his lies and so repeats it without thought of any accuracy or not. Dumb
pucelleauxblanchesmains · 04/08/2021 21:29

I don't believe any of this is a conspiracy but I don't think laughing at people and making Bill Gates joke will actually do anything for your cause. It might make you feel good and get "LOL" responses on here but it's not very persuasive, and I think from some quarters there's a real lack of understanding as to why some people may have less trust in the political and medical establishment than others. I've had some horrible experiences with doctors which is why I don't like the uncritical "I heart our NHS" stuff, and I think it's easy to see why people who have also been dismissed in a medical capacity before might be drawn to believing the vaccine is dangerous and doctors are out to get people. And the more sarky posts you make for your little bubble, the more they will be convinced that the establishment is conspiring against them.

TheTallOakTrees · 04/08/2021 21:29

@EmmaOvary

What a depressing thread this is. Conspiracy theorists offering up dubious YouTube videos as The Truth while religious zealots wax fanatical about Satan controlling the world.

Both options obviously more palatable than the actual, boring reality: shit happens. Other shit is man-made and humans can be vile to one another. So, take some responsibility for it - get vaccinated, be kind, be empathic.

Yep.
pucelleauxblanchesmains · 04/08/2021 21:36

The other thing is of course that I think the pandemic has raised certain questions about what is and isn't ethical to do in a public health context, and we've seen from previous pandemics including AIDS that Public Health TM is not always infallible. It's perfectly legitimate in my view to question whether it's good to move to a view of healthcare in which we must all strive to reduce our burden on the NHS rather than seeing it as a service we are all entitled to use through paying tax when we are earning enough to do so; to ask what the role of behavioural science in public health should be; to have frank conversations about the risks and balances involved in opening schools up again. I don't think it's healthy to avoid any consideration of these questions at all or to call people tinfoil hat idiots who just need to trust the experts more. I also think the way the discourse went in the liberal, educated circles I move in from "masks don't work, Karen, save them for doctors", to "wear your fucking mask Karen" was an example of how we can legitimately learn more as the pandemic goes on but also of how we can be very dogmatic about what the experts say and then memory hole it when the official viewpoint changes.

ToykotoLosAngeles · 04/08/2021 22:30

I'm not particularly a conspiracy theorist but I thought this was because they knew there weren't enough to go around -suddenly triple layer cloth masks were deemed extremely effective when Etsy was flooded and Boots started stocking floral 3-packs and voila! Compulsary masks.

godmum56 · 04/08/2021 22:33

@ZednotZee

Well, there is a theory that this is all just a computer simulation (the world and our existence), and that it's been glitching. Explains Brexit, Trump and now a global pandemic...I am not a tinfoil hatter and don't actually believe that but honestly, I find it quite comforting to imagine that all this is just the latest whim of a 13 year old girl playing a video game in her bedroom in the year 2361 or something 🤣

Quantum theory kind of presupposes the input of an observer. Benign or not, its a jolt to the ego Grin

no it doesn't
EmmaOvary · 04/08/2021 23:01

Getting tired of hearing people saying on here that questioning the supposed 'status quo' is healthy and that they're sick of being flamed for it.

Yes, of course you should question. We all should.

Just for the love of all things holy or unholy, get your information from reputable sources. THAT is what people are taking issue with.

And by the way, the not so subtle implication that those of us who are in favour of vaccinations aren't as cleverly curious and questioning (read: sheeple) as the vaccine hesitant is also tiresome.

pucelleauxblanchesmains · 04/08/2021 23:13

"But I was under the impression the reduce the burden on the NHS mantra was practically rather than philosophically driven?" In a pandemic, yes, but things like advocating for sugar taxes to protect the NHS are very much philosophical I think and I'm concerned that this attitude will spill over from the pandemic. Especially given how hard it is already to get a GP appointment and the impression that I'm being an inconvenience by having a chronic condition.

Staffy1 · 04/08/2021 23:28

And I'm all for the old and vulnerable having the vaccine if they want it and anyone else for that matter. But pushing a trial vaccine on young people who don't even need it is so wrong not to mention dangerous and if you go along with it soon it will be they can't go to school or join in with anything if we don't get them jabbed (i.e let them be experimented on) how long will it take everyone to see what is happening? What will it take? Your child dying? Your neighbours? We need to make a stand now and together. Vaccination or not it must be free personal choice. The variants are fear mongering and most likely driven by the vaccine (just like polio and 'wild' polio😂). If you've had covid trust you are immune do not be coerced into taking shot after shot. Watch planet lockdown and the interview with Michael yeadon. Government are getting richer and richer whilst purpousfuly shutting down small businesses. We're testing healthy people while sick people go without treatment. Nothing about this is right or makes sense

Have any children died from the vaccine? Does anyone know? I haven’t seen any reported, but have seen reports of children dying from covid, (a small number, but still there is that risk). Just wonder why people assume the vaccine will do more harm to children than covid itself.

MN really has gone mad!

Do you know what?

I think Seal had a point when he sang that 'we're never gonna survive unless we get a little crazy'

Years ahead of its time that tune.

Somehow don't think Seal meant your kind of crazy
ellyeth · 05/08/2021 00:33

Hueylewis I feel like you about the whole situation and find the "othering" of anyone who expresses any concern quite sinister.

Agree

Those poor kids and shame on the adults who propagate such errant delusion amongst those too younfng to comprehend the gravity of that which they are encouraged in to

Exactly what I think every single time I see 'christian child', 'muslim child', etc

Hekatestorch · 05/08/2021 08:30

I have no problem with people questioning.

I do have a problem with people posting fake bullshit, calling it facts and then either not backing it up at all. Or backing up by saying 'yeah, it's true because says so'.

We should question things, that's been a point I have tried to make all the way through this thread. But questioning and spreading crap are 2 different things.

Op saying she has a feeling something is wrong, is fine. Then she needs to go research, ensure her sources are good sources and then if she still thinks something is wrong she needs to question why that would be.

Even look at the conspiracy theories but question them. And question them properly. What's the end game, who does that benefit. Does it actually benefit the group called 'they'. Does actually even make sense. Where did this theory come from, how was it started and by who?

100% this.

Milkandhoney888 · 05/08/2021 09:02

I absolutely agree somethings a bit off about it all. Unless you dig deeper you'll only find one media censored view. Anyone who has tried to speak out has been shut down or struck off. The pushing of vaccinations onto the younger generation who through the whole pandemic have not had to wear mask, and get very mild symptoms i find very strange. Oh and I'm in the "vulnerable" catogary and am exempt from mask wearing. Work with young children with no social distancing and seem to be doing ok.

Hlgwsbytktu · 05/08/2021 09:10

I watched a couple of documentaries last night about pandemics that were made pre covid. Firstly I was shocked to see what happened during SARS in 2002. Almost identical scenario to now but covid on a much wider scale. Every person who spoke insisted about how prepared they were for the next pandemic because they knew it would happen soon. So why has it been such a complete shit show from start to finish? Almost every county seems clueless, all doing their own thing, no continuity.
I also find it very confusing about how one minute we are seeing terrible pictures and videos in places like India, then it all stops and we hear no more about that place? I don't like how we are only being given bits of information. I also feel now that if/when we get through covid there will be another pandemic, and another.
My biggest gripe tho is the fact that every day on the entertainment sections of the news apps etc I see celebrities acting like there is no pandemic. Jetting around the world, having a wonderful time, totally unaffected. Whilst us mugs are here having spent the last 18 months not even being able to see /hug relatives, friends, having massive restrictions placed on our lives. I feel so angry about this, it just isn't fair that if you have money you can just do what you want

kimlo · 05/08/2021 09:12

everyone 11 and up were supposed to wear a mask.

Hekatestorch · 05/08/2021 09:31

Did you let WHO know? I mean if you are OK, crisis averted. Nothing to worry about. Hmm

Whose been struck off for simply talking about this pandemic is really about?

This is what I am saying, questioning it absolutely right. Digging deeper is absolutely right. But actually digging has failed to produce any decent evidence there's more to it.

Many posters have come on to this thread saying there's more, but can't back it up. And those that have, have used some of the worst people as evidence.

Again, stating as fact that people have been struck off for talking about 'it', talking about what exactly?

You are right, people should dig deeper. But no one yet has managed to come up with anything that actually has, even, half decent back up.

EmmaOvary · 05/08/2021 09:46

If anyone brings up Kate Shemirani as an example of one of these brave whistleblowers who have been gagged, I will scream.

foxandbee · 05/08/2021 09:49

She is vile. Hopefully she will crawl back under her stone soon.
