Can’t shake the feeling that something is weird/wrong?

Since the pandemic started really..it’s all seemed strange, some points I’ve convinced myself things are normal, but it’s there deep down bugging me. I just find it all so odd, the pushing of vaccines on young people for incentives, no real discussion being allowed apart from what is presented to us. Is this normal?! Or is it me that’s not 🤷🏻‍♀️Does anyone else feel like this?

It's Irish law and it is wrong. I wouldn't mind so much if the double vaxxed couldn't spread it but they still can, so it's totally discriminatory and makes no sense.

Bigtruth · 02/08/2021 16:52

My word, what a shame that the education system in this Country has left us so utterly confused when something a bit unusual happens.

Conspiracy theories rely upon ignorance and an inability to properly research topics, with all the ignorance to Covid (with it being a novel virus this is inevitable) it's been very easy to hoodwink people.

There may well be more to this virus than we currently know, it could legitimately come from a lab for example, but please learn how to do proper academic research and use trusted sources before spouting on forums how something "feels off" or you're part of the problem.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 02/08/2021 16:52

@DameSlapsSlap

Of course there is something bigger going on, I just don't know what yet.

All this madness for a virus that has something like a 99% survival rate, hmmm not suspicious at all.

99% means potentially 78,749,658 people dead who wouldn't have been otherwise.

Why worry about nearly 79 million people? Must be suspicious that the idea of losing the equivalent of more than the population of the United Kingdom is seen as a very bad thing that should be prevented.

And that's before you take into account the ones that would be permanently or long term disabled from it. And the possibly of further variants that prove to be more fatal.

kimlo · 02/08/2021 16:54

@Mistplanet they were only allowing unvaccinated to sit down inside they are allowed in to buy things. It's not costa's choice, it's the rules in the roi.

Hueylewisandtheviews · 02/08/2021 16:54

It just feels weird, all of it, but yes obviously could be the fact that it is a pandemic and obviously a strange situation and it twists thoughts etc, I just don’t know

I'm really glad that nobody had Facebook when they first introduced the polio vaccine...

It's the latter, sorry OP. There is no global or national conspiracy.
Hueylewisandtheviews · 02/08/2021 16:56

@intothewoodss Yes, that makes me feel better, I just have to stick to remembering that, my anxiety about it all just resurfaces at times

Do you not think it's been hard, for most things, not to comply with at least some restrictions? You can't ignore the government and eat out/go clothes shopping/have a massive wedding when everything is closed. You can't refuse to WFH if your boss closes the office.

Iggly · 02/08/2021 16:57

Well it is absurd and sad that our health system was so chronically under funded (along with other countries) and our government’s utter failure to lockdown borders - that we’ve ended up here.

I don’t believe that there’s a conspiracy, but I do believe that our government - like most - don’t have the interests of most people at heart.

LaurieFairyCake · 02/08/2021 16:57

Well yes loads of people feel like the OP Confused

It's a perfectly normal defence mechanism

Who wouldn't want to think it's a conspiracy theory rather than 5 million dead/global pandemic/restrictions for what feels like ever/no travel ....

I would MUCH rather it was a global conspiracy to protect the planet by literally forcing us to stay at home

But IT AIN'T 🤷‍♀️

It's just a shitty virus trying to kill us all

whistlers · 02/08/2021 17:00

Bill Gates wants to chip everyone so he can stalk their weekly shop at Lidl

EmergencyHydrangea · 02/08/2021 17:00

Human beings have evolved to see patterns and find meanings. Sometimes that glitches and we see patterns that don't exist and find meanings that aren't there

That makes sense actually. Much more helpful a reply than the irritating sarky arses.
Hueylewisandtheviews · 02/08/2021 17:03

See I also find it frustrating when I and others feel the same and question our feeling and others pipe up about Bill gates and chips when I’m not saying anything of the sort or when people answer nastily

If only people didn't have opinions that you didn't like and were all as clever as you.
Hueylewisandtheviews · 02/08/2021 17:05

@Blondiney Completely

Thank you @EmergencyHydrangea I have of course put it down to human thought processes and having to have clear cut answers. It’s a confusing time

It’s a way to shut down discussion while demonstrating how ‘hilarious’ they think they are. These type of threads are always full of it.

Christ almighty brainiac, yes did the “PANDEMIC” thing not give you a clue that there’s something “strange”? Called a PANDEMIC?? Yeah so odd the way they made a vaccine to respond to a disease, the truth is out there, who would follow such a basic rational course of action? Why would governments create policies based around trying to protect their populations and economies?!
Flowers500 · 02/08/2021 17:09

None of this makes sense…if you live in an alternative universe where you run around in a tin foil hat screaming the X files theme song

HalloHello · 02/08/2021 17:10

Despite the death rate being apparently 0.1% or whatever has been quoted, it still completely overwhelmed our hospitals to the point that no other illnesses were treated unless absolutely necessary. That's not a good place to be! You saw the scenes in India with funeral pyres in the street, people collapsing and dying everywhere. That would have eventually happened here had we not locked down last March. It's been a pretty fucking terrible 16 months for everyone and the conspiracies don't help. Do you think the government wanted to spend however many billions on furlough, and supporting the arts etc etc etc??? Pandemics happen, they've happened before and will happen again but this is the only time we have lived through one to this extent so it's hard to get your head round but I very much doubt anyone has orchestrated this or whatever it is you're claiming.

A lot of the responses like lockdown happened when everyone was panicking and we didn't know survival rates.

Trying to get everyone back to normal now is much harder work than getting everyone to lock down in the first place.

Personally I've always been more worried by long term side effects than just "death". I'm sure there was some article a while back speculating that up to 10% of covid sufferers had longer term issues - although perhaps someone better informed can correct me there?

HalloHello · 02/08/2021 17:11

Also, lockdowns, creating a vaccine and everything else that has been done, is all part of the standard government response to pandemics. Nothing new or revolutionary has happened. This was always the plan!
