@MamaNewtNewt

Same. Especially as I'm laid up in hospital. It's hotter than the sun in here.

There are some advantages - I washed and hung out my whites on the line, am planning to leave them 3 days (but they'll get darked on! And the spider willies! Shock).

My slightly greying bras and DH's shirts will be once more snowy white Smile

PerpendicularVincent · 02/06/2021 16:02

I hate it. I have cruciate ligament damage and the heat makes the swelling and pain so much worse.

I also hate not sleeping, general sweatiness and squinting in the sunshine. I'd like to live in Siberia so I could spend my days rolling around in the snow.

CoffeeWithCheese · 02/06/2021 16:03

It's much more bearable since we invested in a portable AC unit for the bedroom - it's nowhere near as bad if you've had a tolerable night's sleep.

GrimDamnFanjo · 02/06/2021 16:05

I whined all last week that it was too wet to be in the garden.
Now I'm too hot.

coogee · 02/06/2021 16:10

Hot? Where? It's barely vaguely warm.

We still have the winter duvet on the bed.

RampantIvy · 02/06/2021 16:20

Can I politely request on these weather threads that posters say where they are as the weather is so different in different parts of the British Isles.

I'm in Yorkshire and it has been pleasantly warm, not overbearingly hot.

ALongHardWinter · 02/06/2021 16:21

We're only 5 days into it and already I've had a gut full of people raving about how lovely it is. I never seem to meet anyone in real life who genuinely dislikes hot weather, they only appear on Mumsnet!

I must admit I wasn't a fan of the cold May weather we had,but there seems to be no happy medium. It's either 12 degrees and I'm still wearing winter clothes,or its 28 degrees and I'm boiled just wearing a light skirt and top! I'd be happy if it stayed at around the 20 - 22 degrees mark.

The only good thing about hot weather where I'm concerned is that I'm not spending a fortune on heating my flat, plus,it doesn't take me 20 minutes to get dressed and undressed with all the layers (I'm disabled with arthritis and a very frozen shoulder,so dressing and undressing is a right chore).

My cat hates the heat too,I feel so sorry for her lolling around listlessly. I bought her one of those cold gel pads last year,to put under her blanket, hoping that it might help, but she won't sit on it!

SpnBaby1967 · 02/06/2021 16:24

I dont usually like it, but after the freezing wet may we just had I'm quite enjoying it. Granted I'm not outside in it, and I'm off work this week so not working in it.

But I am getting washing dry within 20 minutes which is great Grin

DeadButDelicious · 02/06/2021 16:32

I'm in the north west and google tells me it is currently 27 degrees. I'm hiding in my lovely shady house with the curtains shut and the fan on. I pegged some washing out earlier on (the only thing the heat is good for) and felt like I was being suffocated.

I can't stand being too hot, the light hurts my eyes and I suffer from polymorphic light eruptions if I don't cover up really well, so to stop my skin coming out in a rash I have to wear sleeves and carry an umbrella if the sun is very strong. It's great that people enjoy it and everything and I'm happy for you but for some of us this weather is rotten, literally the best summer I ever had was last year when I broke my ankle and was on complete non weight bearing bed rest and I physically couldn't go outside. Grin

I have 2 long haired cats. The fluffiest one doesn’t seem to mind at all but the other one is really struggling. She’s just spent the day flopping from place to place. We have a routine at night where I go and say goodnight to my DS and he gives her a massage Grin and tonight she got nearly to his room and just flopped on the landing! He ended up getting her and carrying her to his room! Poor little thing.

dementedma · 02/06/2021 21:55

The dramatics on here for what is warm, not boiling hot, weather are incredible.

CaptainCorelli · 02/06/2021 22:03

Heat affects people differently. My in laws love these temperatures but moan constantly if they are out and the temperature drops below 18 degrees. What may feel lovely to you may well be unbearable to someone else.

Kakiweewee · 02/06/2021 22:06

Heat intolerance sucks. But at least at these temperatures heat stroke is mostly unlikely. I got it four times on holiday in Florida!

1Morewineplease · 02/06/2021 22:09

You're too late but, yes, I hate hot weather.
I'm struggling to go from winter coat, straight into wafty stuff.
Bonkers!

Try wiping her down with a cool damp towel. We have a long haired cat who lays down and pants in hot weather. The damp towel has helped today.
LoveFall · 02/06/2021 22:14

Another hot weather hater. We have an apartment with nice views that I hardly ever see in summer because we face southwest and have big windows. We have to keep the blinds down. It is like an inferno at times. Last night was one of those toss and turn hot nights.

Yes, sunny and warm but not hot please.

Popcornbetty · 02/06/2021 22:15

YABU, don’t steal my sun!!

SE England and it was more pleasant today than it was yesterday. There were no clouds in the sky yesterday and since there is little shade where we live there isn’t much protection. I have to wear long sleeves when it’s like this because I get an almost instant burning sensation on my skin. As I get older I’m noticing I’m starting to get heat rashes under my jawline and on my neck. I naturally run warm so the warm temp and humidity doesn’t help. I’m used to extreme (hot and cold) temperatures growing up in the State, but the humidity here on top of lack of shade and no air conditioning makes it difficult for me.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/06/2021 22:28

If it makes anyone feel better we had rain today.
After hot and sunny day it hit about 7😁 perfect timing.

coogee · 02/06/2021 22:53

My cat seems to love it. He's from a country where it does actually get hot.

Helendee · 02/06/2021 22:56

Hate, hate, hate it. I wish the UK would drift a thousand miles north towards the North Pole!

Irishterrier · 02/06/2021 23:01

I find it astonishing people don't like a bit of sun and warmth after a terrible long and cold spring that just wouldn't warm up.

My family and I have been outside soaking it up - every last hot day of it!

The only reason I can think of for hating this weather is if you're obese. Or pregnant. Otherwise, wtf?

Ifixfastjets · 02/06/2021 23:02

You can be first, as long as I can join you!
I was happy looking at the pretty snow. Now, I have burnt legs.
Somebody said "it's nice and sunny outside"
I asked them to clarify which it was. Nice? Or sunny?

ssd · 02/06/2021 23:12

Anyone can join in Grin
