I can't believe I'm the first?!?

Anyway, i bloody hate the heat.

Thats all.

NE Scotland and it has been 12 degrees with thick haar today. I would kill for some proper sunshine!

altiara · 02/06/2021 23:54

YANBU OP!
This is why I like Springtime (although not this year). You start to see some flowers/blossoms come out, you imagine long sunny days at the pub by the river drinking wine...
Then, I realise I hate the heat and the insects, and I hate Pinot Grigio. And I don’t even know what pub by the river I’m imagining!
But spring always gives me hope! Then it’s just a countdown to Autumn!

MiddlesexGirl · 03/06/2021 00:00

YABVVVVVVVVU.
We get about two weeks of decent weather a year and 50 weeks of crap.
When the sun's out everything feels better. Always.
I'd never move away from the south of Englans but by God I'd love it if we could just have a longer and more consistent summer - say 6 months of 20°Cish.

MiddlesexGirl · 03/06/2021 00:03

I hung my sheets out yesterday.... overnight.
So it did get darked on and a spider ran out when I came to fold them up. But it's so nice to have line dried sheets rather than tumble dried.

Sympathies to all the other posters who, like me, struggle with the heat. Though I think it's not so much the heat here as the humidity?

I'm in NW and it was 25.5 in my living room today (Wednesday 2nd) - just completely horrendous to deal with. I had fans on, which made little difference as they ended up just circulating warm air so I turned them off early afternoon and put on the neck fan I bought from amazon, which is brilliant.

I find I have to use my inhaler far more frequently when it's hot as I just can't catch my breath properly. Lack of sleep leaves me drained and my feet swell in the heat, which then makes my ankles throb...So yes, like many others have said, the heat makes me feel ill. And I hate feeling so horribly sweaty. I do shower frequently, wear loose clothing and apply anti-perspirant/talc underboob and belly etc but it doesn't seem to make much difference. I just feel...hot.

Preplanned menu called for hot meal for family tea tonight and even just being near the cooker was not pleasant.

I don't wish for cold weather or rain per se, just that it would be cooler and definitely cool enough to sleep.

I'm posting this because it's too hot and I can't sleep. No doubt many are in the same situation so Flowers to fellow sufferers...

The only reason I can think of for hating this weather is if you're obese. Or pregnant. Otherwise, wtf

Really, you can’t think of any other reasons? As I said upthread, I have joint and muscle pain exacerbated by heat. I’ve woken up this morning and my legs are really hurting.

I can’t go out in the sun for long as I have a skin condition that means I have to be extremely careful how much exposure I get.

There are many, many reasons why some people hate this weather.

mamaatthegym · 03/06/2021 10:47

28C is lovely when you’re lying on a beach and being fed by an all inclusive buffet.

Not at home trying to juggle normal every day tasks Sad Im due in December but would gladly hibernate until October. Dreading the July/August heatwaves we’ve had for the last few years that go up to 34C, the duvet comes off, the fans come out! And even then I can’t sleep.

therocinante · 03/06/2021 11:31

@Irishterrier

I find it astonishing people don't like a bit of sun and warmth after a terrible long and cold spring that just wouldn't warm up.

My family and I have been outside soaking it up - every last hot day of it!

The only reason I can think of for hating this weather is if you're obese. Or pregnant. Otherwise, wtf?

Has it ever occurred to you that people like different things?

I hate being too warm. Anything about 17 degrees is horrid for me and it was 29 where I live yesterday. Neither obese nor pregnant - just can't stand feeling overly warm and I burn very easily.

My ideal day is overcast and 15 degrees, imagine that.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 03/06/2021 11:36

I am properly loving today tbh. Cloudy, but comfortable 19 degrees. Perfect😂

RampantIvy · 03/06/2021 12:23

16 degrees here, and gloomy

cricketmum84 · 03/06/2021 14:41

My air cooler has arrived. And it is pure BLISS!!!

Fellow heat haters you really need one!

BashfulClam · 03/06/2021 14:49

@cricketmum84 can you post a link?

I've attached a pic. There was £13 off when I ordered it but that seems to have ended now :(

It's small but powerful which is good cos it means I can take it up to the bedroom on a night quite easily.

Pedalpushers · 03/06/2021 14:56

26 degrees here, my fingers have swelled up to the point I can't wear my wedding ring.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 03/06/2021 14:58

Careful on the air coolers. Some create ridiculous humidity and can cause mould

BashfulClam · 03/06/2021 14:59

@cricketmum84 thank you. @SchrodingersImmigrant if it’s only being used for a few weeks it should be ok.

adrianmolesmole · 03/06/2021 15:13

London, and I'm hating it right now. Working in my bedroom everyday in a sweltering south-facing bedroom is killing me! And I usually love summer.

I can't wait till I can go back to the office.

Thanks I'll keep an eye on it. We've got a little weather station that shows temp and humidity indoors and outdoors so I'll pop it on fan only if it goes high :)
phoenixrosehere · 03/06/2021 18:31

The only reason I can think of for someone to make such a ignorant comment is because they couldn’t be bothered to read the thread before posting where people explicitly said why.

phoenixrosehere · 03/06/2021 18:32

*an

Oblomov21 · 03/06/2021 18:32

It did go from one extreme to the other! No build up.

I would recommend airing a lot. We had industrial one at work for latlrge space and my hair started curling😂

House plants would love ot though!

Kakiweewee · 03/06/2021 19:22

My succulents are very happy.

My knee is not. Swollen like a balloon. Torn cartilage. I did walk about 400m to Argos for a couple of desk fans so that's probably my fault, but I had a moaning teenager who was also too hot!

Looubylou · 03/06/2021 19:27

I get ratty in the heat, but I do like the sunshine effect, until that point. My worst problem is drying my hair with hot air styler, even 7am, have open windows wide, but still hailing with sweat. Cut 6 inches off so just on shoulders but made no difference. This is a new problem, is it my age? No hot sweats otherwise.

LoveFall · 03/06/2021 19:30

It was 29 here yesterday also which translated to over 30 in our bedroom when we went to bed.

I realised my Dyson fan is essentially useless. I think it needs taking apart at the base and cleaning.

I love the sun and the warmth but this sudden heat is horrible. We are not acclimatised which makes it worse. My homemade bread went mouldy overnight.

I guess my username is perfect. I love the warm sunny Fall weather when it is cool at night.
