YANBU - The weather is lovely. Sunny, bright, blue skies and long days... but the heat is horrible. I don't like it above 20C, especially at 25 weeks pregnant. I'm also incredibly fair so am now wearing factor 30-50 suncream (as is my little boy).

Fortunately, we invested in a portable air con unit so at least the heat is mostly bearable.

I didn't complain when it was colder. I wasn't a fan of the constant rain but never had any issue with the cold. I can wear extra layers for that.

It's forecast with a high of 27C tomorrow SadSadSad

The English deserve England.... 😂

SchrodingersImmigrant · 01/06/2021 22:31

I saw today when shopping that many people love the heat and already are sporting the freshly cooked lobster skin shade.

It's like sunscreen is for weak people or smth😂

ScienceSensibility · 01/06/2021 22:33

Joining my people..

I hate it. I could cope if it was only hot during the day, and then cool at night so we could sleep.

There’s something about hot weather in Britain, it’s so stifling and unpleasant. I need a sea breeze..
The brightness hurts my eyes and I spend my day trying to keep the house as cool as possible, opening and closing curtains, doors, blinds etc. It’s become my full time job.

I loved May. 😎

It's only been 22C here. Hardly a heatwave, just some pleasant summer weather for a change. It's back to rain by the weekend though. The last two summers were a real let down with all the cold, wind and rain so we're due a good one I think. My health improves a lot in the better weather.

RainHailSnow · 01/06/2021 22:43

Oh it’s so nice to find others who aren’t keen on this weather. I’m sick of the breeze “isn’t it lovely today” greetings when I’m boiling in hell. It’s the intense heat I can’t take. I get headachy and sweaty. Cloud cover abs a breeze is good but direct sunlight no thanks. The suncream battle with the extremely fair children who burn at so much as a light peek at the sun is a nightmare. Cooling my house is a pain curtains closed open windows closed open. Then feeling like
Neighbours can hear everything due to windows being open. The little flies coming in. I could go on. Im not as miserable as I sound but the direct heat is irritating. I like a dry lovely day that’s nice for sitting or playing out with children or walking but doesn’t leave us all sweaty sticky with creams and unable to sleep. I feel like a misery. Everyone else seems to be loving this weather Confused

SkyeIsPink · 01/06/2021 22:44

The perfect temperature is 20 degrees.

DrCoconut · 01/06/2021 22:47

I also find that you can't get away from the relentless cold and rain. The air is damp and chilly and it seems to soak right into your bones whereas you can get in the shade, have a cool drink and use a fan when it's warm. It's much easier to cool down than warm up in my experience. I do have a metabolic issue though that my GP is investigating so maybe I'm unusual in this.

Pinuporc · 01/06/2021 22:48

But if you dont like hot weather you get to enjoy cold/freezing/mild/dull/cloudy/rainy/windy weather for about 49 weeks of the year, in the uk...Hmm

CrazyBaubles · 01/06/2021 23:11

YANBU. The 25degrees we had here yesterday and today (and that is forecast every day until Sunday) along with the increased pollen count does not mix at all well with my high bp, ginger hair, freckles and ridiculously sensitive skin. I got slightly burnt today - I was outside for 15-20 minutes total hanging out washing and bringing it back in Hmm

I wish I was one of those people who love a sunny day or that the sun had a positive effect on me but instead I get uncomfortable, have to use sun cream (sticky), sneeze a lot and end up with prickly heat and strangle looking brown freckles 🙄

Give me winter any day!

BashfulClam · 01/06/2021 23:15

Come to Scotland it’s only ever warm for a few days.

Cushionsnotpillows · 01/06/2021 23:41

@SkyeIsPink my corner of north Scotland was exactly 20c yesterday and today with blue skies and a light breeze off the sea.
Lovely!

Tillygetsit · 01/06/2021 23:57

My son and I have started a Sun Haters club. Wanna join?

Exactly. I get that some people don't like hot weather but honestly we get so little it has to be easier for them than those of us who dislike the cold or wet or wind.

We have only had warm weather for 4 days and it is unlikely to last much longer so I really don't get the moaning

I disagree. Where I am we actually have nice weather a lot. It's like everyone has been moaning about the weather in May. We had soooo many nice days. Not "hot" except couple but plenty of sun. For example, the time when everyone started moaning on sm for Fri. Mon here was ok, some clouds. Tue nice wiith a shower or two, wed not a single cloud in a sky, thu rain, fri clouds and rain. I was mightily confused when some people were saying how we haven't had sun for weeks.

I think it's such a habit to moan about a weather, people forget to register the good days😁

Fairyliz · 02/06/2021 08:35

YABU
It’s the first time since last September that my heating has not come on and it’s only set at 17 degrees.
God knows what the bills are going to be.
It’s lovely to have the windows open and get out in the fresh air without four layers of clothing.

HerringHelen · 02/06/2021 08:42

I much prefer the cold. I actually really like rain too. However, my DC adore the sun and being out and splashing about, so at least their summer will be enjoyable if the sun keeps up. I’ll be counting down till autumn and lovely snuggly jumpers and warm socks and log fires 😂

cricketmum84 · 02/06/2021 08:47

I've just ordered myself an air cooler from Amazon to arrive tomorrow.

Place your bets now on these being the only few warm days of the year!

Rebornagain · 02/06/2021 09:10

When it is cooler I can layer up or down depending on the temperature when it is hot I'm just a hot sweaty mess.

Mind it is very funny seeing people red raw thinking it looks great to look like a lobster

Yes! You can always put extra comfy layer on, but there is only so much you can take off before police is called😂
PegPeople · 02/06/2021 09:19

It's like everyone has been moaning about the weather in May. We had soooo many nice days.

Where the heck do you live in the UK where May had so many nice days. Shock During May we've had frost, hail, almost constant rain and grey skies and even a touch of snow!

I appreciate people don't like the warm weather but absolutely agree with the PP who said for approximately 95% of the year the weather in the UK is perfect for those who dislike sun.

It might not be nice for some but given how little warm weather we actually get in comparison I do believe complaining about it the minute we get a few days over 18 degrees is pretty unreasonable.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/06/2021 09:25

I seriously went through my garden photos for may😂 I was gardening a lot. It was chilli sometimes but nice sunny quite a lot🙈 we have odd weather. You can see massive clouds coming and then they divert or break over nearby peninsula. Plus i am on a hill so while my friend is reporting fog, I have sun. 👀
