Davina McCall tweeted that female abduction / murder is extremely rare and that this level of fearmongering isn't good for men's mental health.

I don't understand why she is attempting to shift the narrative back to how men are feeling after yet another woman's life has been brutally ended BY A MAN.

For fuck's sake, Davina, we have a prominent voice this week, a huge platform to raise awareness about how most of us have to make so many micro- and macro-adjustments to allow for men's violence and here you are, putting men's health in the centre of all this.

Am I being unreasonable in thinking she should apologise and remove her tweet?

"She is a mother of boys ..." I have a son too. And a daughter.

I think this conversation is vital for our daughters and our sons. I think we need to be open as a society about finding out why males are so much more likely to commit acts of violence than females. It's not something we can really deny. So why are we trying so hard to do this?

It does our sons no favours to hide pretend this is not a thing.

@HOkieCOkie

She is a mother of boys so I understand 💯 where she is coming from . Also shock horror she’s entitled to this thing called an “opinion”
I am a mother of boys too and I cannot believe she tweeted such a tone deaf comment. Except I can. We see this shit all the time, women jumping to the defence of poor men.

It's from the same handbook as "All lives matter" in response to Black Lives Matter.

Ignorant, tone deaf and just cringey.

She has one boy and two girls and her partner has two boys.

Witchcraftandhokum · 13/03/2021 19:51

I agree with her.

BoomBoomsCousin · 13/03/2021 20:20

@52andblue
I agree.
as for NAMALT well LOTA (lots of them are, because society tolerates indeed conditions men into it - we need to talk about this as a society)

Exactly. NAMALT is really problematic when we’re talking about sexual harassment of women because it’s cultural, it’s encouraged, and we need to talk about how to change this culture, not sweep it under the carpet and pretend we can just punish the one or two men who do it.

Theworldisfullofgs · 14/03/2021 18:38

I have a son too. Does that make me qualified?
We talk about this at home. We talk about difficult stuff. I'm bring him up not to be a knob.

Not talking about uncomfortable stuff because we need to somehow protect men (or women) does them a disservice.
