To find it odd that she felt the need to correct me

I was asked how old I was at work so I said 25 as I’m 25 in. July. Work fired then say oh you actually 24 not 25. I don’t see what difference it makes as I’m very nearly 25 so simple rounded up.

Why would you round up? You’re 24

OnceIWasAnApe · 18/02/2021 13:21

What?! Why did you lie about your age?!

TeenMinusTests · 18/02/2021 13:22

I find it odd that you rounded up your age when you still had 4-5 months to go until your birthday.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 18/02/2021 13:22

July isn’t ‘nearly’ your birthday. Saturday is ‘nearly’ your birthday.

Badgerstmary · 18/02/2021 13:22

How bizarre to say you are 25 when you are not 25 for another few months.

MrBullinaChinaShop · 18/02/2021 13:22

How weird. You’re 24 so say you’re 24. 25 isn’t any easier to say than 24, and it isn’t your age, so why say it?
Bizarre.

FourEyesGood · 18/02/2021 13:23

Very odd to round up!

W3dontdoduvets · 18/02/2021 13:23

You’re 24 you plum.

TheChip · 18/02/2021 13:23

Still 5 months to go. Its odd that you're saying you're 25 when you're actually 24.

Curiosity101 · 18/02/2021 13:23

I do find it a bit odd that she corrected you. But I also find it a bit odd that you're rounding up at the age of 24. Even if I was 24 and 364days old, I'd still say I was 24 🤷

LongPauseNoAnswer · 18/02/2021 13:23

That's so weird, you're 24 not 25 Confused

Annoy · 18/02/2021 13:23

That’s like saying a 17yr old can go to the pub because they’re nearly 18 🙄

IthinkIm · 18/02/2021 13:23

I would have corrected you too

ThreeTwoOneBlastOff · 18/02/2021 13:23

Why though? You’re 24. You’re not 25 for almost half a year!

My MIL does this with my children it really gets on my nerves. She starts rounding up their ages a good four months before. 🤷🏻‍♀️

TheYearOfSmallThings · 18/02/2021 13:24

It's February, so your birthday is nearly half a year away. Why would you say 25 when you are 24?!

I would understand if your birthday was within the next week or so, but it isn't.

MsVestibule · 18/02/2021 13:25

I find it odd that you 'rounded up'! I might correct a friend on this and not think anything of it at all.

SnarkyBag · 18/02/2021 13:25

Yeah you’re nearly 6 months off being 25! So no idea why you rounded up how odd

BrumBoo · 18/02/2021 13:26

My birthday is sooner than yours, I say I'm the age I am, not my next birthday Confused. It's on part with children saying 'I'm 7 and three quarters'.

You're 24. When asked, you say 'I'm 24', because that's you're age. Until you're 25, in July.

Veryverycalmnow · 18/02/2021 13:26

Haha, not sure why you'd round up once you're older than 10. Sorry OP, it's not a big deal, but they weren't wrong to want your actual age, rather than how old you will be in a few months!

AmySosa · 18/02/2021 13:26

Ha my mum does this with everyone’s ages. Really annoys me. My sister is 40 next month but mum has managed to shoehorn in ‘well you are 40’ on more than one occasion. Not nearly 40, or 40 soon. You can imagine my sister’s reaction.

Rupertbeartrousers · 18/02/2021 13:26

To be fair I sometimes forget how old I am and need to be corrected

StrangerHereMyself · 18/02/2021 13:27

Are you on minimum wage by any chance OP?

Sbowiegirl · 18/02/2021 13:27

You’re 24 OP.

But I don’t think you’re the only one that rounds up.

I’m sure I saw a thread on here where a child was 2 years and 9 months old. The mother was determined she wasn’t “2”

Okokokbear · 18/02/2021 13:27

July is ages away. This is fucking bonkers. I've read a few threads here where people do this rounding up. I don't get it.

OK if your birthday is next week but July is about 6 months away!
