To think not everyone washes their hands after every single wee when in their own home?

Anything other than a wee, yes of course.

But washing hands after every bloody wee is overkill in my opinion

WTF! Ewww no. I wash my hands after every time I go to the loo.

Bloominggoodvibes · 05/02/2021 22:37

Nope I rarely wash my hand at home if it’s only a wee. Probably the only time I wash after wee is if I I have guests over (pre-COVID-19 of course!). I wouldn’t want them to not hear the tap running after the flush and think I was gross!

sqirrelfriends · 05/02/2021 22:38

Yeah I do but it's mostly a habit.

SimonJT · 05/02/2021 22:38

Yes, its basic hygiene.

PreyingMantlepiece · 05/02/2021 22:38

@RefuseTheLies

My bladder is small and hyperactive. I'd never be done washing my hands if I did it after every single wee. My hands would be bleeding, I think.
This is me, and I still wash ny hands. Maybe not for two full renditions of happy birthday, but I couldn't not!
Meggymoo777 · 05/02/2021 22:39

I do... occasionally will just rinse my hands under the tap if it's the middle of the night but otherwise I wash my hands after every trip to the loo

DigitalChristmas · 05/02/2021 22:39

Even pre covid i would wash my hands after any trip to the loo. I find it really unhygienic not to. Even if I go somewhere and there’s no soap i would still use water to wash my hands.

Of course I wash my hands after using the loo. It was drummed into me from being small to do so, and I judge anyone who doesn't.
WillYouDoTheFandango · 05/02/2021 22:39

Yes. Always. ExP has told DS he doesn’t need to after a wee and it really pisses me off (pun intended)

User3727 · 05/02/2021 22:39

Yes always it’s automatic

AppleKatie · 05/02/2021 22:40

Shock this thread!

Wash your hands. Literally if you’ve learned nothing else in the last 12 months....

pumpkinbump · 05/02/2021 22:40

I was just thinking about this after reading another thread. If a woman has a wee, she doesn't touch anything, other than the toilet roll and the flush. So is it really needed, but I always wash my hands after a well, they don't feel clean otherwise.

Haggisfish · 05/02/2021 22:40

Weee don’t. Grin

HighSpecWhistle · 05/02/2021 22:40

The only time I don't is if I know I'll be doing something that requires a handwash straight away, like changing a nappy etc.

It's gross not to.

Sparklingbrook · 05/02/2021 22:40

Eww. Just wash your hands. Don’t know what’s weirder not washing your hands or starting an AIBU on MN about it. Confused

Sbowiegirl · 05/02/2021 22:41

I do. And my 5 year old son does too. Without prompting (not that he’s particularly well behaved, it’s just automatic)

I wash my hands all the time. And I go nowhere, so... what's your point!

What's actually disgusting though? Tell me

You've got piss on your hands, so, there is that.

Unless the flush is thoroughly cleaned every time it is used then washing hands is absolutely vital.
LizzieSiddal · 05/02/2021 22:41

You may use loo roll but have you noticed liquid goes through loo roll very, very easily. So if you don’t wash that hand you’re walking around with urine on it. Wash your hands!

NewCatMummy · 05/02/2021 22:41

Ewwww- I wash after every wee, every toilet trip, every bin bag change, every trip outside the house, before eating every time, at work about every ten minutes. Yes I get through a lot of hand cream. Yes it’s gross to not wash your hands.

FatCatThinCat · 05/02/2021 22:42

Did you not do the petri dish thing at school OP? A hand as is, a washed hand, a hand after peeing without washing. Taught me that not washing your hands is absolutely minging.

Erm, I really don't get piss on my hands! Who does! Above the age of 2 of course

I have a bladder that can hold about a thimbleful. I wash every time. The only time I may not is in the middle of the night and don’t want to make too much noise and wake people up (light sleepers).
It’s grim not to wash your hands.

What if you had thrush or something else going on though and then went to change your babies nappy with unwashed hands? I'd honestly be worried if pass something, if always have washed my hands before changing nappies?
