To be sick to death of male violence against women?!

Kilmarnock attacks: Mother and daughter killed and man dies in crash www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-55948245

Just read about the poor mother and daughter killed in Kilmarnock by what sounds like the mother’s husband/partner. When will this stop?! And when will it be taken seriously as the misogynistic hate crime that it clearly is?!

Feeling even more fed up with it than usual as I also had a scary incident this week where I went for a run with a friend in the centre of a city at 6pm and got harassed by a man Angry

I’d been so looking forward to going out, getting some fresh air and catching up with my friend and then some d1ckhead had to ruin it by running alongside us saying “I want sex with you, I want sex with you” over and over again. When I turned to confront him and told him to “shut up and go away”, he turned nasty, raised his hand as if to hit me and said, “you trying to mess with me?” in a really menacing way. I’m mid-thirties and haven’t had to deal with this sh1t in a while but it left me really shaken (we ended up sprinting for our lives and trying to ask for help from a stranger, who just ignored us Sad ) Luckily the weird guy got bored and stopped following us eventually, but who knows what could have happened Sad

AIBU to think there needs to be much more effort made to reduce male violence and harassment against women in the UK?

It's utterly terrible

@BingBongToTheMoon Please don’t post speculation. It’s crass.

itchyfinger · 05/02/2021 18:35

@bingbongtothemoon no one said it was about abuse, but its definitely violence against women!!

Conkergame · 05/02/2021 18:36

@BingBongToTheMoon it’s not abuse to murder someone?! He murdered them out of jealousy. It happens all the time when a woman wants to leave her partner for someone else - they get killed, along with kids and other relatives as collateral damage. It’s a mentality of “if I can’t have you, nobody can”.

Yes, my situation was different as the guy didn’t know me, but it comes from the same place - men believing women owe them sex/attention and if they don’t give it then harassment and violence are a fair “punishment”.

Why did he murder them though? If a person is grief stricken I can understand the wish to end ones life, but why take others with you? That's about revenge, and it's far too often the male reaction when women make them angry

emmetgirl · 05/02/2021 18:39

I feel exactly the same. I'm sick and tired of women being murdered by controlling men. Utterly sick and tired.

RJnomore1 · 05/02/2021 18:40

What’s violence if not the ultimate in abuse?

There’s three young girls tonight, youngest 14, having lost their mum and dad and older sister in one swoop and he did it. And before anyone says speculation it’s in the press now. I live near and know a lot of speculation about it but that is fact.

Someone’s going to be along in a mibute to say Namalt and women do it too but op, you’re not wrong.

Mrsmorton · 05/02/2021 18:41

YANBU. @BingBongToTheMoon you can't be for real? Is that an excuse? Did she deserve it? You should be ashamed.

Sulkywoman · 05/02/2021 18:42

Men need as a class to look at their violent behaviour towards women and other men. They should challenge each other, stop staying silent and call out misogynistic acts and speech. Men think they will get away with it if they cross the line. There are no justifications for murder or abuse. It would help if the police and CPS took it more seriously and at least saw who is doing what and to whom.

Fucking hell.

I don't even know where to start with this.

Sulkywoman · 05/02/2021 18:46

It is now three women a week killed ( 2 before lockdown) and we are told that transwomen are the most vulnerable which is clearly wrong.

Potterurotter · 05/02/2021 18:47

I often wonder if there was an apocalyptic event would women run around raping men, likely not

Sulkywoman · 05/02/2021 18:47

Who the hell on the poll thinks the OP is being unreasonable?

Butchyrestingface · 05/02/2021 18:50

@Sulkywoman

Who the hell on the poll thinks the OP is being unreasonable?
@BingBongToTheMoon apparently.
BigGreen · 05/02/2021 18:51

YANBU of course. Men as a sex class are responsible for this sick shit. I knew when I saw the "linked incident" what way the story would turn out.

3rdNamechange · 05/02/2021 18:52

I know , it seems to be getting worse. I don't know what the answer is but it's so sad. I won't even go for a walk on my own in normal times.

BlowDryRat · 05/02/2021 18:53

YANBU OP. I've only read the BBC version but it's clear what happened. Again Angry And Johnson can piss off with his thoughts for 'everyone involved'. One person involved is a murderer.

CandyLeBonBon · 05/02/2021 18:55

I'm so sick of this shit not. Ring taken seriously

2021hastobebetter · 05/02/2021 18:57

I’m in tears daily with it.

Men berating women day in abs day out.

It’s shit. Just today we have two murders by an ex husband. Then the zoom call - I do not think the men in that zoom call will talk to a man like that.

Sick of porn. Skin of a violent culture where we are told to smile while walking or accusing of being emotional etc I’m so so done and worried for my daughter and even more worried for my son and what the hell he is growing up into

GrinchnotHinch · 05/02/2021 19:00

Yanbu, I feel like rioting in the street about it some times Angry

MadamBatty · 05/02/2021 19:02

There’s a case here in Ireland yesterday, elderly woman killed & left in a burning car. A warm kind woman who did lots of charitable work. Man arrested today.

IWillSqueakAgain · 05/02/2021 19:03

I agree with being sick to bloody death of it.

I haven’t been a victim in a long time. I haven’t worked outside the home in a long time. I have a wonderful understanding gentle dh. I’m much much braver at being straightforward when advocating for myself or my girls and have confidently, skilfully faced of with male teachers, school about trans ideology etc Life (personal, day to day life, not political kind obviously) for me in so many ways has less of male violence, entitlement and misogyny in it than it ever has.

Yet I’m more scared and more angry than I have ever been. Much much more angry.

Gil55 · 05/02/2021 19:07

Men, decent men, need to step up to the plate and call out any behaviour which can be deemed abusive towards women. No more laughing it off, no more saying "it's none of my business". Time to say "if you speak like that about your partner or treat your partner like that, then you're no friend of mine". The vast majority of men are decent human beings but they need to join this fight.
