would you smoke if there was zero negative health implications and no social stigma?

I did smoke in my late teens and early twenties. It's been many years now, I would never ever do it again but I did enjoy it at the time.. having a nice meal, maybe a drink and then stepping outside into the crisp night air and enjoying a cigarette while looking up at the night sky and contemplating life (okay I'm romanticising but just indulge me here).
I know it also stinks and is an extra cost. But I was wondering, if there was no stigma attached and definitely no negative effects on your health, those around you or the air quality around you.. a 'healthy' cigarette as it were... would you? My husband (also smoked in his youth) says he wouldn't. But i think I would!

No
It stinks

Dnadoon · 17/01/2021 19:55

Yes I would. Been give up years.

MoonlightMedicine · 17/01/2021 19:55

Yes I probably would.

Champagneforeveryone · 17/01/2021 19:55

Yep, like an industrial chimney Wink

Bytheriogrande · 17/01/2021 19:56

I think I would

CoRhona · 17/01/2021 19:56

Yes but £10 a pack is another deterrent!

wheretoyougonow · 17/01/2021 19:57

Yep. I would. Have given up for 18 years now and still miss it when having a glass of wine. Although thank goodness I did give up. These stressful times would have led to a 20 a day habit I reckon!

ParkheadParadise · 17/01/2021 19:57

Yes, I probably would.
I smoked for years 20/30 a day.
I quit a couple of years ago but sometimes still have cravings occasionally.

Bicnod · 17/01/2021 19:57

Yes definitely. Rollies. God I miss that first drag.

BlueThistles · 17/01/2021 19:57

No.. 🤢

MajesticWhine · 17/01/2021 19:57

Yes I would. I miss smoking.

PolarnOPirate · 17/01/2021 19:57

I’ve never smoked but I love the smell of it. What would be the benefit? Does it feel good? Otherwise no, waste of money!

vodkaredbullgirl · 17/01/2021 19:58
Hmm
Kanaloa · 17/01/2021 19:58

Probably not because of the price, but I do think I would have probably tried smoking before if I knew there were no health problems caused by it.

Melonportal · 17/01/2021 19:59

Of course

LApprentiSorcier · 17/01/2021 19:59

Your question misses the main deterrent other than those you mention, which is the cost.

AngryFeminist · 17/01/2021 19:59

God yes. I miss it still, 7 years after my last ever one.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 17/01/2021 19:59

If there was no smell - yes! Definitely.

Suzi888 · 17/01/2021 19:59

Nope- it stinks!

Aprilx · 17/01/2021 19:59

No as I don’t like the smell.

meltedgalaxy · 17/01/2021 19:59

Nah

DelurkingAJ · 17/01/2021 20:00

No, I used to hate coming back after a night in and stinking of stale smoke from other people.

Astormofswords · 17/01/2021 20:00

Does it still smell bad or would it smell nice??

covidaintacrime · 17/01/2021 20:00

Yes. I don't smoke much any more (other than once in a while when social or stressed) but I would. I think it looks and tastes very good.

BillywigSting · 17/01/2021 20:01

I would. I quit when I found out I was pregnant with ds and never restarted because the thought of second hand smoke around him and all of the things I could buy him with the money I would save. But bloody hell I don't half miss it and I'm pretty certain the smokers in work get twice as much break as the none smokers with their 'just going for a quick fag' six or seven times a shift.
