would you smoke if there was zero negative health implications and no social stigma?

I did smoke in my late teens and early twenties. It's been many years now, I would never ever do it again but I did enjoy it at the time.. having a nice meal, maybe a drink and then stepping outside into the crisp night air and enjoying a cigarette while looking up at the night sky and contemplating life (okay I'm romanticising but just indulge me here).
I know it also stinks and is an extra cost. But I was wondering, if there was no stigma attached and definitely no negative effects on your health, those around you or the air quality around you.. a 'healthy' cigarette as it were... would you? My husband (also smoked in his youth) says he wouldn't. But i think I would!

In a heartbeat!

Userzzz · 18/01/2021 01:20

Yes ! Oh I would smoke a lot.

Inextremis · 18/01/2021 01:33

Absolutely no! I hated doing it even when I was addicted - gave up in October 2019 and am delighted with myself - the freedom is great. I am never tempted to have even one now, though I don't find the smell too repulsive, it's just a smell.

PeggyHill · 18/01/2021 01:36

I used to smoke... I can't decide if the cost and the smell would be worth it...

I'd probably smoke occasionally

VetiverAndLavender · 18/01/2021 05:08

I've never smoked, mostly because of health concerns, but also because it's never seemed appealing. It seems like it would feel drying and choking, so it's difficult to imagine it being pleasant, though obviously many people do enjoy the sensation.

HowOnerous · 18/01/2021 05:11

I've never smoked but if it was cheap, didnt make everything stink and was benign healthwise i'd love to because i think i'd be skinnier if i smoked rather than snacked!!!

justanotherremainer · 18/01/2021 07:58

Oh yes

Kintsugi16 · 18/01/2021 07:59

No.
I can’t think of one single reason tbh

Fifthtimelucky · 18/01/2021 08:09

No. I tried a couple of times in my teens and always hated it.

I also always hated how my hair and clothes used to smell after a night out, because although I hadn't been smoking many other people had.

IwantToDatePicard · 18/01/2021 08:12

Oh yes definitely.

SomeoneInTheLaaaaaounge · 18/01/2021 08:12

Sorry I can’t read the whole thread because I need to shout YES YES YES YES.

Even with the stigma, fuck that, who cares. If it wasn’t doing my body a massive disservice I would be puffing all day and all night.

YakkityYakYakYak · 18/01/2021 08:14

No. I gave up around 10 years ago and the idea of smoking now makes me feel physically sick, I can’t stand the smell of it.

princessandthedragon · 18/01/2021 08:15

No. It made my mouth taste like an ash tray, gave me a sore throat and it stinks. Smoking is outdated.

BoomBoomsCousin · 18/01/2021 08:37

Very occasionally, yes, mainly cigars. But not as a regular thing. The idea of being addicted to something and spending all that money is too disgusting.

I’ve only ever smoked one or two at a time. Had fewer cigarettes/cigars Than I have years and I like it like that.

notacooldad · 18/01/2021 08:39

No.

gottakeeponmovin · 18/01/2021 08:50

If I could just smoke socially and then not have any more I would do so. But I can't - one cigarette and I'm back to a packet a day

Brighterthansunflowers · 18/01/2021 08:53

No, it stinks

Butchyrestingface · 18/01/2021 08:55

Yes, it would hopefully stop me constantly feeding my face.

fastandthecurious · 18/01/2021 10:48

Depends if it would still cost £10 a pack. If not then yes like a chimney. Gave up years ago when we started trying for DS and never went back purely because I didn't want to be spending £10 on myself that could go on DS.
