would you smoke if there was zero negative health implications and no social stigma?

I did smoke in my late teens and early twenties. It's been many years now, I would never ever do it again but I did enjoy it at the time.. having a nice meal, maybe a drink and then stepping outside into the crisp night air and enjoying a cigarette while looking up at the night sky and contemplating life (okay I'm romanticising but just indulge me here).
I know it also stinks and is an extra cost. But I was wondering, if there was no stigma attached and definitely no negative effects on your health, those around you or the air quality around you.. a 'healthy' cigarette as it were... would you? My husband (also smoked in his youth) says he wouldn't. But i think I would!

Hell yes

Fallenmadonnawiththebigboobies · 17/01/2021 21:41

YES - I miss smoking

Bourbonbiccy · 17/01/2021 21:41

Yes, I loved it.

namechangetogamechange · 17/01/2021 21:42

I'd want them to bring back proper Marlboro ice blast

Bourbonbiccy · 17/01/2021 21:42

I look at people walking on a cold morning with a cigarette and long for one ShockShock

jessym · 17/01/2021 21:43

Not if ciggies still cost a tenner a pack, no. I have better things to do with the money.

TravelDreamLife · 17/01/2021 21:45

No! The 'nice feeling' is getting your addiction fix. Not the smoking itself. There's no way I'd go back to being controlled by needing a cigarette.

The cost, the affect on skin, the stink. Oh! The stink, yellow nails/teeth is the worst! Blergh. No way.

Sooo judgey
PennyRoyal · 17/01/2021 21:48

Oh yes, absolutely definitely for sure.

Last touched one 25 years ago but I'd certainly start again if no implications. I think all ex smokers are just one cigarette away from addiction again!

Gingerwhinger0 · 17/01/2021 21:49

No. Given up for such a long time, doesn't appeal anymore.
Also, it only looks cool on the young and beautiful, it just doesn't look right on either the very young (school age) when I started, or in middle age and beyond.

YES!!!! THIS!!!! If they did, and there were no health risks, I'm ashamed to say I'd probably pay £20 a pack.....
Zerrin13 · 17/01/2021 21:55

Hell yes!

MaskingForIt · 17/01/2021 21:56

I wouldn’t smoke because it smells, but if there was a legal, healthy, non-addictive and stigma-free way to take heroin I’d be on it like a shot (see what I did there).

Coffeeand · 17/01/2021 22:06

100% yes, although probably just at the right time and not all day (after dinner, at the pub, after sex).

namechangetogamechange · 17/01/2021 22:07

@Minikievs GrinGrinGrin

BarryTheKestrel · 17/01/2021 22:12

Yes I'd smoke 100%. I vape now (not a big cloudy one and not sickly sweet liquids- i hate this just as much as everyone else!) and whilst it scratches an itch I am never as satisfied as I am on the odd occasion I will pinch a cigarette from a friend on a night out. I haven't smoked properly in 6 years but have been a social smoker until lockdown hit last year. But if there were no health issues or social stigma I'd go back to smoking tomorrow.

chuffedasbuttons · 17/01/2021 22:53

Yes. Pass them over

ScruffGin · 17/01/2021 22:57

100% definitely yes! I quit the day I found out I was pregnant (she's now nearly 3), but I loved it and I miss it!

Chesneyhawkes1 · 17/01/2021 22:59

Oh yes 😊

Chuckleknuckles · 17/01/2021 23:02

If it wasn’t ageing to the skin either, yes

Sheleg · 17/01/2021 23:02

God, yes. I'd smoke like Satan's armpit.

IracebethOfCrims · 17/01/2021 23:04

No, I don’t see the point in smoking. I don’t like the idea of being addicted to anything. It’s a waste of money too.

diversity101 · 17/01/2021 23:06

No, it stinks, is expensive, makes your nails go yellow, and all the people I know who smoke look old and weathered well before their time.

gettingshitstraight · 17/01/2021 23:07

I totally would, I loved smoking.

tttigress · 17/01/2021 23:11

Not quite understanding the people on here saying the like the smell of someone smoking.

Now if it were a cigar, or even a pipe (does anyone smoke pipes these days?) that would be a different matter!!
