would you smoke if there was zero negative health implications and no social stigma?

I did smoke in my late teens and early twenties. It's been many years now, I would never ever do it again but I did enjoy it at the time.. having a nice meal, maybe a drink and then stepping outside into the crisp night air and enjoying a cigarette while looking up at the night sky and contemplating life (okay I'm romanticising but just indulge me here).
I know it also stinks and is an extra cost. But I was wondering, if there was no stigma attached and definitely no negative effects on your health, those around you or the air quality around you.. a 'healthy' cigarette as it were... would you? My husband (also smoked in his youth) says he wouldn't. But i think I would!

No because it smells really bad

RefuseTheLies · 17/01/2021 20:02

I thought I'd say yes as I quit smoking 10 years ago and I used to periodically think about taking it up again, but I'm pregnant atm and the thought of smoking makes me want to barf right now.

SimonJT · 17/01/2021 20:03

Yes I ❤️ smoking and really really miss it

101jobs · 17/01/2021 20:03

No, because I would still stink !

blueleonburger · 17/01/2021 20:03

RozHuntleysStump · 17/01/2021 20:04

CoolCatTaco · 17/01/2021 20:05

Yes, I just might! But only as a treat, the price of them!!Shock

covidaintacrime · 17/01/2021 20:05

Like vaping?

There are negative effects to vaping (and social stigma, I think).

NattyDiamondDoll · 17/01/2021 20:05

Yes

AldiAisleofCrap · 17/01/2021 20:06

Probably not because of the cost but I miss it.

RitaMills · 17/01/2021 20:06

Yes, I enjoyed smoking.

Pinkfreesias · 17/01/2021 20:06

No. Never. It's an expensive habit and it makes you stink.

Makes all the surfaces in your house turn yellow eventually, too. My parents both smoked and I swore I'd never try so much as a drag, and I've stuck to that.

RandomUsernameHere · 17/01/2021 20:07

Absolutely 1million percent! (I haven't touched one for nearly 15 years).

takingwhatineed · 17/01/2021 20:07

Absolutely

DamnShesaSexyChick · 17/01/2021 20:07

Yes, definitely.

cactusdog · 17/01/2021 20:08

Yes probably

Sofetikal · 17/01/2021 20:08

Surely this is just vaping

Quaagars · 17/01/2021 20:08

No, because it absolutely stinks.

mamalovebird · 17/01/2021 20:09

I have not smoked since I found out I was pregnant with my first DC, so around 12 years, but during lockdown, I have started to have a cig with a glass of wine. Not definitive reason why... maybe stress, maybe a 'fuck it' mentality in reaction to being locked down for months on end (am in the north west so we've not had it easy). I feel guilty and the smell is awful, but secretly I quite enjoy it if I'm honest. I was never a wake-up-and-spark-up person.... only ever smoked when drinking.
If there was a 'healthy' cigarette, yeah I would, but still just with a wine.

GoryGilmore · 17/01/2021 20:10

I definitely would. It’s the only thing that kept me slim.

Mollyboom · 17/01/2021 20:11

Absolutely- one of the best appetite suppressants there is, and it was a really social activity. I really miss it.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 17/01/2021 20:11

It wasn't the health (not going healthy into the grave) or social stigma for me.
Coggies are so expensive in UK and now I can't bring my own🙈 So I stopped because I would spend probably 4x more.

JovialNickname · 17/01/2021 20:11

No, I've never wanted to and don't see the appeal. That's not some kind of moral judgement though; I'm just lucky enough that it holds no allure for me therefore it's easy to say no.

ketosavedmylife · 17/01/2021 20:11

I have never smoked (in my 50's now) but think that I would be a chain smoker like my gran if I dared to start. We are very alike in many ways.

Consequently, I have never dared to try because I think I would love it like she did.

If there was no cost implications, health implications or social stigma then yes, I probably would.
