He's clearly suffering from a severe mental health issue.
It's astounding that he got to a position of power in the first place obviously, but now his delusions are absolutely off the scale.
He genuinely believes that the election results were a conspiracy, very publicly announced that it was a landslide victory in his favour when it so blatantly wasn't.
He obviously has a long history of utter lunacy, but reading his tweets and seeing recent events makes it clear that he's mentally unwell and a danger to himself and others.

OP posts:
MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 10/01/2021 11:03

He's not mad. He's doing everything he can to get exactly what he wants.

He has poor impulse control (understatement), and no moral compass or empathy.

But he's not mad.

I actually think it's dangerous to attempt to minimise him in this way. He needs to be recognised for the dangerous person he is. (Not having a pop at you OP, just general observation).

Americans do seem to be very all or nothing. Not a lot of nuanced debate to be had.

Anecdotally I visited my ex's family near New York who I'd been warned were staunch Republicans but had no idea after a couple of brief chats that they'd considered me a 'red' aka communist because I am pro Europe, speak other languages and am interested in other cultures (!) Oh and god forbid - atheist. 🙈

Tbh, neither man is capable of running the country. Biden was complicit in the riots and violence which took place in Portland and other states last year, by not speaking out for days. But neither is Trump a worthy president either. I think people’s hatred of Trump is blinding them to the shortcomings of Biden. I do wonder where the blame is going to be directed once Trump leaves office, Biden is in charge, and the focus is then on Biden and how he is running the country. I hope I’m wrong, for the sake of the poor Americans who have been faced with two incompetent men to choose from, but I really think once Trump goes, then the problems with Biden will be properly highlighted, and the fun and games will commence.

blueangel19 · 10/01/2021 11:26

all Livelovebehappy Yes, can’t agree more.

blueangel19 · 10/01/2021 11:27

This mess just benefit China.

Cokie3 · 10/01/2021 11:32

I don't think the two are mutually exclusive. I think you can have a mental illness, AND be an evil bastard who knows what he is doing. I feel he is both.

Roussette · 10/01/2021 11:55

blueangel not sure if 'Bless' is meant as some sort of patronising insult but back atcha!

You obviously have no argument against what I posted!

Roussette · 10/01/2021 11:57

I would be genuinely interested to hear what a psychiatrist thought of him - even one who has only observed him as he appears through media

A lot of reputable psychiatrists have written about him. Lots of stuff out there. Very interesting actually

HmmSureJan · 10/01/2021 11:58

@OhWhyNot

Trump will be gone very soon

The bigger worry is that someone smarter will come along to take his place, who will use his rhetoric but shall be a better politician. Let’s not forget that Trump despite the last four years received more votes than anyone else In a presidential campaign apart from Biden

America wasn’t united before, Trump didn’t create the divisions he just added a lot of fuel to the fire

This.

And this.
MissMarpleDarling · 10/01/2021 12:14

YANBU. He obviously has mental health issues.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 10/01/2021 12:14

I still fail to see how out of a population of what 600mil these are the two best candidates? The mind boggles

Anon778833 · 10/01/2021 12:21

I don’t really see the point of whattaboutery with regards to Biden. Personally, I don’t trust any politician. But what’s important is how they are seen to behave and Trump is probably the worst president America has ever had - he only wants to talk about himself. Americans realised this, a lot of them. Remember when people were scared of George W Bush? And he seems sensible compared with Trump.

MissConductUS · 10/01/2021 12:22

It's 331 million at the moment. But you were close.
Anon778833 · 10/01/2021 12:24

Also hasn’t Biden said that he’ll only commit to the position for 12 months and then hand over to Kamala Harris?

MissConductUS · 10/01/2021 12:38

@SugarbabyMilly

Nope. Utter bollocks actually.
blueangel19 · 10/01/2021 12:41

all SugarbabyMilly He has not but let’s if it is what happens.

Lweji · 10/01/2021 12:48

Anyone who thinks Biden and Trump are comparable is seriously deluded.

And I'm not a particular fan of Biden or think he was the best Democratic candidate.

Cherrysoup · 10/01/2021 12:49

Zero evidence of voter fraud.

I can’t work out if he’s totally deluded or just has the most massive inflated opinion of himself. Trouble is, only a couple of presidents have only served one term over the past 40 years or so. I think Trump was obviously expecting to slide obsequiously back in so this has been a genuine shock to him bless him the big orange baby

itsgettingweird · 10/01/2021 12:49

No.

I don't think despicable human beings should be able to use MH as a get out clause.

He's always been like this. He hasn't changed - he's just gained more power.

OhWhyNot · 10/01/2021 12:50

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER

Trouble is, any action that would make him a martyr in the eyes of his fanatical followers, would probably result in a lot more violent disorder and deaths.
Difficult decisions for those who have to make them.
Easy for us to say what should be done.

I agree with this. He has connected with people in a way that when you attack him you are attacking them. That’s why he received so many votes. Unfortunately some of them are caught up in their online world of conspiracy theories it’s a very toxic and dangerous mix you only need 1% of his voters to create a seriously dangerous issues and as we have seen this week the security lapse is a big problem

HmmSureJan · 10/01/2021 12:50

@Lweji

See I am baffled by people who can't see it Grin
Lonelycrab · 10/01/2021 12:54

Absolutely. A lot of bollocks being spouted these last few pages. If you don’t see or understand why Trump is so dangerous, I suggest you stop opining and do some reading.

I think Harold Shipman is no worse than mr blobby. I heart the Internet 😉

Crazycatlady83 · 10/01/2021 12:57

I do wonder how healthy it is for any society to have such closely linked politicians - Bush Snr in 1989 then Clinton back to Bush Jnr. Then Obama (who had close links with Hilary Clinton, who was in his Cabinet) and then Trump but now back to Biden (who was obvious VP for Obama, who had close links to Clinton). There is now talk of, if Trump can’t run again due to impeachment, one of his children running!

FreshEggs · 10/01/2021 13:00

Mary Trump’s book is an interesting read. She describes the way Donald became the golden child of the family while her father Freddy was the black sheep and died at 42 of alcohol related illness.
