He's clearly suffering from a severe mental health issue.
It's astounding that he got to a position of power in the first place obviously, but now his delusions are absolutely off the scale.
He genuinely believes that the election results were a conspiracy, very publicly announced that it was a landslide victory in his favour when it so blatantly wasn't.
He obviously has a long history of utter lunacy, but reading his tweets and seeing recent events makes it clear that he's mentally unwell and a danger to himself and others.

He should be in fucking prison.

blueangel19 · 10/01/2021 09:40

all Roussette

Bless!

Lweji · 10/01/2021 09:45

I don't think he believes he lost due to fraud.
I know he knows his fan base believes it when he says it.
Very different.

Lweji · 10/01/2021 09:47

@HibernatingTill2030

They should impeach him for two reasons
 1. To set a precedent
 2. To strip him of the pension and lifelong benefits he will get as a past president.
The third is more important.

To prevent him from running again.

Marieg10 · 10/01/2021 09:50

Only a doctor can really say whether he is mentally ill. He does behave like it. It could be having had years of being a total bully and everybody saying yes and laundering to him..made 100 times worse when he became president.

What the Democrats seriously need to reflect (as do Replicicans) is this tendency to have virtual royal families descended from past presidents....ie JFK, Bush and Clinton. Democrats hadn't put up Hilary and instead someone whose credibility came from her husband then Trump might have been long forgotten.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 10/01/2021 10:12

Trouble is, any action that would make him a martyr in the eyes of his fanatical followers, would probably result in a lot more violent disorder and deaths.
Difficult decisions for those who have to make them.
Easy for us to say what should be done.

VintageStitchers · 10/01/2021 10:15

No, he’s not mentally unwell at all, but he is definitely a devious criminal who needs locking up in prison.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 10/01/2021 10:17

I don’t know - he’s just an egotistical bully who has had a life of tying to get dads approval and then surrounded by yes men. He just believes his own hype and has the debating skills of a toddler.

Anon778833 · 10/01/2021 10:19

I should imagine that narcissism on the scale that he has it, certainly is a mental illness.

He’s a demagogue who enables people to feel that they can nurture their bigoted prejudices and that’s the only reason he has a big fan base.

Anon778833 · 10/01/2021 10:20

Some of his followers still believe that he has an IQ of 160 😂

Porcupineintherough · 10/01/2021 10:21

@VintageStitchers but that's the point isn't it? He's not devious at all. Not in any way that could fool anyone with an above room temperature IQ. He shows us exactly what he is, every time he tweets/opens his mouth. People dont follow him because they are unaware what he is, they follow him because they agree with him.

Lweji · 10/01/2021 10:27

People dont follow him because they are unaware what he is, they follow him because they agree with him.

Actually, I think it's more that he says what they want to hear.
They don't want to understand that more people in the US voted unlike them. They jumped at the idea of the wall when he first dropped it, and he went with it.

Hatstrategicallydipped · 10/01/2021 10:27

He's what a lot of people in AA would call a dry drunk. I believe he has never drunk alcohol in his life, but that his brother was an alcoholic. There's a way of thinking that is deemed 'alcoholic thinking' and if ever I saw a case of it, he's it.
A lot of it would be the 'in the gutter looking down on people'. He has no perception of himself which lives in reality. He very much sees himself as superior, though the dogs on the street know that he's not 'quite right in the head'.

Lweji · 10/01/2021 10:29

Even religious leaders know he's an atheist and an adulterer, but he now supports them, so many rallied behind him. Because it suited them.

Hatstrategicallydipped · 10/01/2021 10:30

His speech patterns are very unusual. 'The greatest', 'The best the world has ever seen', 'the world's greatest' etc. etc. etc. About himself in the main. I've never really heard anyone actually use such speech patterns.

chaosisaladder · 10/01/2021 10:31

He’s not mentally unwell. He’s just a narcissist.

Hatstrategicallydipped · 10/01/2021 10:32

I would be genuinely interested to hear what a psychiatrist thought of him - even one who has only observed him as he appears through media.

blueangel19 · 10/01/2021 10:32

Exactly! Nothing is going to happen because of these reasons.

Hatstrategicallydipped · 10/01/2021 10:34

Well Biden has called him a national embarrassment.
I think it was Nancy Pelosi who desperately feels that he's an immediate danger by being in possession of nukes codes or similar - that or maybe Biden's VP?

Was on Sky News yesterday.

Notverygrownup · 10/01/2021 10:40

Totally agree @Hatstrategicallydipped - his speech patterns have always had me running for the off button on the radio or TV. I think even if he was saying something sensible, I would struggle with his phraseology.

Interestingly this week I heard one speech was totally different, using much more complex sentences, without his usual repetitions - suggesting that he is much more in control of his language and therefore of himself than I had believed: an even more chilling thought than thinking he is innately narcissistic, and that he totally believes his own version of reality.

Norwayreally · 10/01/2021 10:50

I don’t think he’s mentally ill and think it’s unfair to blame his actions on an illness many suffer with. He’s just an egotistical twat with a superiority complex.

DuncinToffee · 10/01/2021 10:51
@VinterKvinna that’s how it was for us - such was our hate of Hillary that we just had to vote for whoever stood against her. We would have voted for Mickey Mouse before we voted for her.
So Hillary made you do so, such a lazy excuse

chaosisaladder · 10/01/2021 10:55

@Hatstrategicallydipped I have asked the psychiatrists at work and they say he’s just a raging narcissist

Heatherjayne1972 · 10/01/2021 11:00

In a weird way It’s fascinating to watch both sides of this
I’m on a fb group which happens to have an large amount of Americans who are utterly convinced that he will serve another term

And yet he seems to be mentally ill or just has a personality disorder (or both )

Paintedmaypole · 10/01/2021 11:01

I don't think he is mentally ill as such. Severe mental illness such ss schizophrenia and bi polar is tragic, involving complete loss of touch with reality and disintegration of thought patterns. I think that his actions and words are deliberate. I think he does have a Personality disorder and paranoia. This is just from observing him on TV. Only a psychiatrist in a position to do a thorough assessment could really say. There os a possibilty that his cognitive function is declining and I certainly feel that he is dangerous and amoral.
