He's clearly suffering from a severe mental health issue.
It's astounding that he got to a position of power in the first place obviously, but now his delusions are absolutely off the scale.
He genuinely believes that the election results were a conspiracy, very publicly announced that it was a landslide victory in his favour when it so blatantly wasn't.
He obviously has a long history of utter lunacy, but reading his tweets and seeing recent events makes it clear that he's mentally unwell and a danger to himself and others.

@Wales34 However the economy and the markets of course have societal complications , therefore, companies are bound to a number of regulations/ laws set by a government.

There is not one single law that requires a company to host dangerous, extremist, seditious, treasonous or violence-inciting content. Not....one. Indeed, there are laws that would see said companies sued if someone used their medium to cause a bombing or a murders. So they are legally duty-bound to terminate consumers who put their company at risk of liability.

Also if you can provide a quote to me where president trump incited violence I would be all ears

There you go. His speech in full. Annotated. With all the references to what he wanted his cult followers to do.

It's damning. Very.

@Wales34 There is so much fake news and misinformation in your last post, I don't know where to begin. At the beginning, I guess.

I can tell the difference. If we put trump aside for a swcond. Why is it that the 10 senators asking for a review into the evidence to assure the America people ( a poll showed 39% of Americans believed the election was rigged)

The poll showed 39% of Republicans believe it was rigged, not the general population.

The 'evidence' has been reviewed. It was found that there was no evidence. Those 10 Senators are causing mischief, are trying to tear America from it's democratic hinges, and promote sedition. They are clearly not of good repute.

their posts are censored

That does tend to happen when you spread lies and dangerous false information for nefarious purposes. These lies are harmful, not the least because gullible and easily led people like yourself (not meant in a nasty way, just saying the truth) fall prey to their deceitful and extremist rhetoric.

Also josh Hawley home was attacked by antifa
Do we know it was antifa for sure? Or is he saying that to cast blame? Given how low these ultra far right extremists are willing to go, and the hateful and violent rhetoric they use to incite violence (just look at the screenshot of only one of many, many posts on parler that urge a violent uprising and promoting sedition and an insurgence), I would trust anything one of them says as far as I could throw a bus.

because he dared to ask for a review of the evidence.

There was and is no 'evidence'. The list of 'evidence' was seen by Judges and Justices. The most learned in America. Also by Constitutional Law experts, and at least 2 Electoral Law experts. They concluded the 'evidence' (YouTube 'clips' of polling centres which show completely normal polling centre procedure, Affidavits by 'Trump supporters' that really don't say anything, tales of 200 thousand ballots 'found' that has been explained, spike in Democrat votes received later on - more than obvious why since the mail-in ballots were counted AFTER the polling place ones - conservatives disagree with in mail-in ballots so are less likely to vote mail-in, Democrats promoted mail-in instead of voting in person, hence the majority of mail-ins would naturally be Democrat AND the Democrat stronghold areas were counted later, etc etc), ALL of their 'evidence' had rational explanations. Unfortunately you genuinely bought into the 'fraud' lies, didn't you?

Also the Democrats since 2016 have been saying trump.stole the election etc etc and no one said anything.

That is a blatant lie, that I think you made up on the spot! Hillary conceded ON ELECTION NIGHT 2016. No one, no one in the Democrats said Trump 'stole' it. Not one single Democrat. And you will not find any proof to the contrary. I dare you to look.

America people who deserve for their voices yo be heard.

Agreed, and the American people deserve to have their votes counted, and not be disenfranchised like trump wanted to do. He wanted to throw out millions of people's votes, in states the Democrats won in. Not in states he won. Oh, no. ONLY states the Democrats won in. He wanted to establish a coup, even a military junta, and destroy democracy, all because he lost the election. The American people deserve to have their votes stand, and their votes be respected.

Also , the evidence was never heard at a proper court, no court would also tje evidence to be discussed

Wrong! As I explained above, the 'evidence' was looked at, and found to be non-existent. Therefor the case didn't continue. That is different from what you're suggesting.

Thank you very much! I had read many quotes but this puts it all neatly in the one article.

@DGRossetti

I thought the non-racist qualifiers would be taken as read, I didn't add that as I thought that was common sense and everyone knew that.

Assuming other people are decent human beings is a high wire act I can't afford at my age.

You have a point. I'm beginning to lose faith in the human race too.
Roussette · 13/01/2021 20:25

Cokie I've seen something better than this but couldn't find it. However, this article does avoid sensationalising and is really quite factual.

As for the 'we woz robbed'... no.

69 lawsuits were brought and thrown out often by Republican justices. There was no evidence.

But Trump refused to concede unlike Hillary with similar electoral college numbers.

longwayoff · 13/01/2021 21:46

'Checks and balances'. Ha. Still 2nd impeachment going ahead.

charlottemont · 14/01/2021 18:41

To those who take issue with social media platforms banning Donald Trump, I'm just going to echo what Cokie3 is explaining quite well.

Twitter (or facebook, youtube, etc) has zero obligation to continue to let someone use their free platform, particularly when said platform is being used to spread lies and incite violence. Zero obligation. There was a Supreme Court case a few years ago that Cokie referenced in which the Supreme Court ruled that the bakery in question had no obligation to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple. That firmly set the precedent that private companies can decide to whom they do not want to provide a service. Much like you would be banned from Twitter if you posted a nude photo or used horribly inappropriate language, Twitter can decide that Trump's presence on the platform is harmful. This is simply Trump suffering the same consequences that any of us would suffer if we, you know, incited a riot or spread lies that undermine democracy.

Also, I find these Orwell references quite funny. The people who are making claims of censorship (coughJoshHawleycough) are making them live on Fox News or from the House Chamber. They still very much have a platform and the right to speak from it. Trump has a BRIEFING ROOM where he can hold press conferences whenever he wants!! He still has an official presidential twitter account!! He is not being silenced.

The media does play a massive role in a liberal democracy, to the user who suggested that we read about the role of media in fascist regimes, but we still have a totally free press. Newsmax and One America News Network are still spouting off their Trumpist viewpoints. Trump could be a guest if he'd like! CNN and MSNBC are still analyzing from the left. The free press is alive and well.
