Mine hit a new low spot this year with Bayliss and fucking Harding

i once got a three pack of lacy thongs and a bag of mini chocolate penises. i was 16 working my first job and it was so embarrassing. i’ve always hated secret santa since.

I'm guilty of combining those into one a few years ago: a selection tin of Bayliss and Harding festive lip balms.

In the office I used to work in, secret santa was organised by boss, his girlfriend and a couple of others. Declining to be involved was not really an option and every year we were all expected to go to a nearby pub to exchange and open them. People were actively encouraged to buy 'funny' presents but the whole thing was cringe worthy.
Presents I received included edible underwear, a small tub of some powder with the word 'aphrodisiac' written on the lid, a 'grow your own boyfriend' (that one was particularly odd since I was middle aged and married) and numerous things in the shape of penises. I would have killed for something as innocuous as Bayliss & Harding!
The last year I was there one of the organisers bought packs of chocolate covered insects and insisted that everyone had to try one as a 'team dare'. He got very pissed off when I refused on the grounds of vegetarianism and claimed I needed more team spirit.

Years back I got a size 20 red lace polyester negligee type thing . I was a size 8 at the time 😂

Last year I got Bayliss and Harding and it went straight to school for the Christmas tombola.

A charity goat. I was a bit disappointed to be honest.

For this reason alone i think it should be banned, this could be sexual harassment or a gift from Julie in accounts who organises the girls night out every month... the secret part makes this a bit sinister

One year my Dh got a mug with a packet of condoms inside! Not sure what the giver was thinking. Dh had the snip 7/8 years previous and was wildly known must of been a joke but I still don’t get it!

I got a candle this year that smelled almost solely of cloves, something my team mates know I can't stand so I'm assuming the gift wasn't from one of them!

My friend received a butt plug from the sexist dickheads she worked with. She was so embarrassed.

You know one of those memories that you've half repressed? I was very young in my first office job and one of the women was given one of those edible candy bra things.

She tried to laugh and joke about it and I thought "well, guess that's what the sense of humour is here, I'm not going to fit in".

But working there wasn't actually like that at all, and its only now looking back that I realise how uncomfortable she must have been and how weird and inappropriate it was.

I feel really pissed off for her some twenty years later.

I got a glow in the dark pineapple ornament last year. I was bemused...

First time I ever did secret santa I was so excited! Think it was a £10 spend limit, new-ish friendship group. We all went out for dinner and exchanged gifts - everyone had found lovely stuff, nice things on sale type stuff. I'd spent ages putting together something thoughtful, nicely giftwrapped. Got my present - it was some crappy stationery, a plastic tub of bog standard paperclips and a (broken) novelty pen. Can only have cost £2 maximum; the kind of crap you get in poundland. I was so disappointed and it put me off secret santas for ages.

But then the worst gift I gave was to a colleague. It was a cat toy because she often spoke of her rescue cat and showed me pics/videos of her playing with it. She unwrapped the gift and welled up, then told me her cat had died the week before. I felt awful!

last year i got a used purse with bits of dirt still left in it after i bought someone a beautiful present i was so mega pissed off and i refused to be involved this year - cant even make it up even if i tried

2 different years, 2 different smelly candles - so they don't know me well as I hate smelly candles. 1 year booze - I don't drink! Only done it at work 4 years and I've only received 1 gift I love! I don't know why I bother joining in as I put loads of effort in the gifts I buy!
