Obviously I’ve got lots of time spare during my furloughed days!

Seriously though, what happens to these bows in inclement weather?

They aren’t new in Essex! They have been a feature for a good few years. I think they are mostly polyester which comes to little harm when wet.

EmmaWithTheGreatHair · 09/12/2020 20:52

I stand corrected! Shock

They’re only a recent thing in my area but they look so delicate!

They are monstrosities.

EmilySpinach · 09/12/2020 20:55

They are the nemesis of the postman.

SantasYumnuts · 09/12/2020 20:55

I have never seen a door bow before! Is it just a Christmas thing?

Twinkie01 · 09/12/2020 20:56

Our lovely postie hates the bloody things.

Calmandmeasured1 · 09/12/2020 20:56

What's a door bow?

Redglitter · 09/12/2020 20:56

I've seen a few photos on FB from people proudly displaying theirs - they're absolutely hideous

SantasYumnuts · 09/12/2020 20:57

I just googled door bows. They are awful.

EckhartLolly · 09/12/2020 20:57

They get wet and mucky and after a few weeks they look shoddy. To me they just look like chavvy excess.

Wellthisismorethanabitgrim · 09/12/2020 20:58

I have been wondering how the post gets through the door. Anyone care to enlighten me?!

Toilenstripes · 09/12/2020 20:58

Is that where you wrap up your door like a gift? Lol. That’s truly tacky.

TheRubyRedshoes · 09/12/2020 20:58

Nothing I imagine they are in a polyester fabric that will dry in a flash?

Blackcountrychik · 09/12/2020 20:59

I've seen them on fb and on a few houses. They just look tacky and definitely not something I would waste my money on and I normally love tacky lol

cardibach · 09/12/2020 20:59

I’m. It a massive fan but I can’t see how they affect the postie...they are in the same place a wreath would be!

cardibach · 09/12/2020 20:59

I’m not a massive fan that should say

DuzzyFuck · 09/12/2020 21:02

I had to Google. Christ on a bike the majority look awful. And yes I can see why the postman might be a bit Hmm if they encounter a lot of them.

I think the OP means this sort of thing that blocks the letterbox. Yes, they annoy the crap out of post delivery people!

DS is a postie - he hates them as he has to try and pull them to one side without damaging them to get to the letterbox. Not very COVID-friendly either
CoffeeRunner · 09/12/2020 21:03

I’ve got a bow on my door. But it’s about the same size as a wreath & in place of a wreath.

It isn’t one of the fabric things that covers the letterbox.

PerfidiousAlbion · 09/12/2020 21:03

They are awful.

Nearly as bad as house bows.

dudsville · 09/12/2020 21:06

Aside from thoughtlessly covering the letter box, let people have their fun, this makes some people really happy.

TheRubyRedshoes · 09/12/2020 21:07

I'm not fond of it, I've seen its done well and not so well but I dislike the tone of the posts berating them.

BiggapTwins · 09/12/2020 21:09

They do their stint as rainbows, dry out and go back to their regular job. 🙄🙄😜😂

EmmaWithTheGreatHair · 09/12/2020 21:22

@BiggapTwins 🤣 thank goodness! 😆
