Obviously I’ve got lots of time spare during my furloughed days!

Seriously though, what happens to these bows in inclement weather?

Polyester = plastic.

Yuk.

WoooooGhoulsDoAFlit · 09/12/2020 23:17

If I was a postie, (especially at this time of year, with millions of things to deliver), I'd be carrying a big old pair of scissors in my bag...

WinterWhore · 09/12/2020 23:18

I absolutely love mine. Thats probably because I. A chav who loves tacky tat Wink anywhoooooo off to straighten the bow

AlwaysLatte · 09/12/2020 23:20

I drove past a cottage today that had lots of real greenery and some solar lights wound round it, and a holly wreath. It looked lovely.

OulDoll · 09/12/2020 23:22

Jeez, they're not very welcoming, are they? They're like giant crosses warning about the Plague (or Coronavirus....). Haven't seen one in real life yet.

HitthatroadJack · 09/12/2020 23:23

I am as common as anything, I personally find them hideous. At least it's dark early, so we don't see them much.

Mamanyt · 09/12/2020 23:25

Better a door bow (or whole house bow) than nothing at all. And it is no worse than some outdoor light displays I've seen here in the US that would power a third world country. Even those make children's faces light up, so I shut up and deal with them.

Love this! People always have to moan.
Janegrey333 · 09/12/2020 23:28

Tacky.

sarahjaneg · 09/12/2020 23:29

My sister did me one today and I absolutely love it, I love a bit of over the top cheese though 😋 brother is a postie and we've been called t**ts for putting them on! That just made me love it a little bit more 🤣🤣🤣

sweetkitty · 09/12/2020 23:33

My across the road neighbour had one, she’s going the Mrs Hinch everything grey as the bow is grey, her tree is tastefully grey and white etc, the grey door box look like cobwebs, red a cab understand but grey???

Divebar · 09/12/2020 23:34

Well if middle class people don’t have them I might go and get one then... to go with my non existent white lights and subtle wreath. I wonder if Heals stock them ? 🤔

Thismustbelove · 09/12/2020 23:39

Personally I find them tacky but.....I was reading an American article about there being 'professional door dressers' who put bows on doors. I can't believe people pay money to get somebody to do this at all for them.

Another puzzling trend around here are door wreaths for every season and festival - Spring, Autumn, Halloween. Apart from the Halloween one, they remind me of wreaths we place on graves. I find them creepy.

dramallama7 · 09/12/2020 23:41

@SlopesOff

So the postie has to pull the gusset to one side, like a pair of tart's drawers in order to insert and offload.

I don't think I will be getting a door bow, my postie is rather, errr, coarse, I can imagine his reaction.

Like a pair or tarts drawers 😂😂

@ShirleyPhallus GrinGrinGrin

Barmyfarmy · 09/12/2020 23:46

I may or may not have bought one of those hideous things for DH's workshop door... Pretty sure he was planning to strangle me with it Grin

EmmaWithTheGreatHair · 09/12/2020 23:48

@liveitwell where did I start a thread bitching? I asked about the longevity of said bows during the fierce winter months! Shock

Stacey Solomon used a professional door dressing company. I'm not sure if Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright did as well but they have a 'dressed door' I think. I liked one Instagram post about mince pies and now my 'discover' section is full of Christmas food and dressed doors.
jessstan1 · 09/12/2020 23:50

I've never seen one, can't imagine it.

CountreeGurl · 09/12/2020 23:55

Cheap and nasty

Especially brilliant if the letterbox has that furry stuff on the inside......

TheDogisBarkingAgain I just had a look. These are on another level entirely. There are less flower displays at weddings!!! I've never seen anything quite like it.

I spent more time looking at their beautiful doors to be honest though. Emma Willis (I haven't a clue who she is or why she is famous but I suppose a reality tv star) has a beautiful front door and side window.

I haven't seen hers, I'll have a look.

She was a model and is now a tv presenter, she presented big brother on channel 5 and she's married to someone famous... maybe someone from busted or mcfly.

@Daphnise

Door bows are rather common, don't you think?

The type of person having such things is generally not the most sophisticated or intelligent!

But if it makes such people happy, and they think it looks good.......

This one comment is making me want to wrap my whole damn house in bows and replace every single one of my warm white lights with neon flashing ones that dance to the Jingle Bells music. Jeeze!
