Chips with Chinese

Okay, so my favourite thread in a long time has vanished and it's left me with feelings of confusion and a yearning to know.........

Do chips belong anywhere in a Chinese takeaway?!

I think they do and would argue that they don't just belong - they MAKE a Chinese takeaway. Excuse me! Chips and curry sauce, how can these not be a part of your meal?! Duh!

YABU - Chips don't belong anywhere near my Chinese - What are you crazy?!

YANBU - OMG make mine a double portion and no going easy on that curry sauce!

I don’t eat rice, so chips all the way! I used to live next to an amazing Chinese in Liverpool and their salt and pepper chips were out of this world, not many places do them where I live now and they’re always a disappointment!

ruby4ever · 19/11/2020 19:33

I too was wondering what happened to that thread! Was OP making it up?

I will have chips with anything regardless of right and wrong 🥳 love it

EternalOptimist7 · 19/11/2020 19:33

Definitely chips! I love the way they are cooked with a Chinese. In Turkey they always offer rice & chips so why not with Chinese? Damn now I really want a takeaway & they’re shut! My birthday is just after lockdown so really hoping to have my fav duck dish with egg fried rice & chips for my celebration tea!

DuzzyFuck · 19/11/2020 19:34

Yes yes absolutely yes.

pastabest · 19/11/2020 19:34

Its fusion cuisine clearly.

purplecorkheart · 19/11/2020 19:34

Used to always get rice and never considered chips until they put in a bag as accident in a order. They were fab. Super crispy. Now always ask for some.

ruby4ever · 19/11/2020 19:34

From your title I knew immediately it's from the other thread 😆

Madonnawiththebigboobies · 19/11/2020 19:36

Ooh what's a munchies box ? Are they a regional thing ?

User515166 · 19/11/2020 19:37

Always get chips with mine

StormBaby · 19/11/2020 19:39

Chips and Chinese bbq sauce are to die for

Smellbellina · 19/11/2020 19:39

Our Chinese always gives us a free portion of Chinese chips which have a Chinese garnish(?) all over them, they are immense!

HardlyEver · 19/11/2020 19:39

@Cheesewine

Of course! Chips and curry sauce is a valid Chinese in its own right !
Indeed!
Quaagars · 19/11/2020 19:41

Chinese takeaway chips are the BEST CHIPS EVERRRR.
That is all Grin

Batshitkerazy · 19/11/2020 19:41

1000% chips belong on a Chinese

Jbh333 · 19/11/2020 19:41

Never had chips with curry or Chinese (from London?) but when my husbands aunty and uncle came down from Gloucester he was shocked that the local Chinese did not sell chips! Maybe it’s a regional thing as when we see the in laws in midlands too they always get chips with an Indian?! But chip shops near by sell chips and curry sauce. I like rice and I like chips so wherever and whoever I’m with I am happy 😁😁😁

WitchesSpelleas · 19/11/2020 19:41

Yes, but you've got to be in the mood for the particular style of chip that comes with a Chinese takeaway. Very crunchy, large and more curvy than other takeaways in my experience.

ILikeTrains · 19/11/2020 19:42

All you people saying to get chips with curry sauce from the chippy - what is wrong with you? Give your taste buds a wobble. (Not sure if you can actually wobble a taste bud) Curry sauce from a fish and chip shop is some weird anaemic version of curry sauce with the consistency of baby poo. In all honesty it doesn't even deserve to have curry in it's name! It should be called greenish cack!

Chips definitely go with a Chinese takeaway!
Anyone who grew up in Merseyside will tell you that Chinese chippies are the best - I was shocked when I left Liverpool for uni and there weren't chippies like that Grin

3rdNamechange · 19/11/2020 19:44

YANBU

Pollynextdoor · 19/11/2020 19:44

I have never come across chips with Chinese so voted YABU, but I think I might be wrong and need to test this out!

merlotormalbec · 19/11/2020 19:44

It depends on who I'm with- my friends and family yes my DH friends and family wouldn't even consider it. Not even on an Indian where half and half is an actual thing

Batmanandbobbin · 19/11/2020 19:45

YABU for ordering curry sauce.
I agree chops age needed.

AldiAisleofCrap · 19/11/2020 19:46

Yes half chips half fried rice every time!

IHaveBrilloHair · 19/11/2020 19:46

Chinese munchy box.

Chips with Chinese
AldiAisleofCrap · 19/11/2020 19:47

I am in Liverpool though and it’s proper chips not fries.
