Boris can't cope without someone doing his thinking for him. We have just changed one ventriloquist for another.

Unelected bureaucrat simply likely to be replaced by other unelected bureaucrats. Thats the problem of the British Constitution - it needs updating and formalised into one single document which makes governmental structures more transparent and accountable.

As said upthread: Cummings is leaving because he can see what an absolute clusterfuck Brexit is going to be and because he's lost his supporters.

Boris has not listened to the electorate once in his entire life and he's not about to start doing that now. I'm not sure what difference Cummings going will make to that.

It feels as if the world’s got a little better over the last week. I woke up the day after Biden’s victory feeling a little lighter. Maybe Johnson will start listening to the grown ups in his party now, hopefully before Brexit is finally done.

Cummings orchestrated Brexit - especially the no deal version of it - and now he's going to take himself off as the shit hits the fan. Disgusting. I have no doubt Boris will be following soon behind. He doesn't want to deal with the mess he's made either.

He was always going to leave once his No Deal Brexit wet dream was brought into fruition. So no surprise there. People like him don't stick around to do anything constructive, they just want to dismantle things.

I really hope that Michael Gove isn't waiting to take over. I have a feeling he might be , but the idea does fill me with horror. I'm glad Dominic Cummings has gone but only because he knows which way the wind is blowing now I suppose. Getting out sooner rather than later.
