I think the demographics underlying that would have changed dramatically by 2024 - 8 years after the referendum.

It would also be interesting to speculate whether so many people that feel they have to big up Brexit in public would do the same in a nice private ballot box. Although if the Reform party were to somehow crumble the Tory vote, then not a tear, no not I would shed. It would serve them right for paying the Danes in the first place.

I can only think Johnson has done a deal with him, he gets to look tough by 'sacking' the despised prick very publically but in return he lets Cummings do something awful which tallies with the pretentious twats leninist project.

Who knows? It's hard to piece anything together isn't it? It feels fishy and unsettling and now Carries name is involved too it makes it very curious. I've no idea. I've read a few commentators today on line and it feels like a lot of speculation going on but something isn't right.

Hmm I suspect it might have something to do with who will be in power at the White House. Boris needs to keep a good relationship with the USA. It helps that Boris himself is USA born, perhaps. If he's seen to be making changes then he may endear a few powerhouses that he wants to secure deals with.

Cummings had a lot of power, despite being unelected, but tbh I think they all seem to be of a similar attitude and that's what draws them to the conservatives. So, I'm not expecting many changes in attitude. Maybe a different approach...

A special adviser to the Government who was sacked on the order of Cummings has just been given a five figure payoff to avoid a tribunal claim which she would probably have won. That is public money that has been used to pay her off because of Cummings' actions. It is nice to know that at a time like this there is money available to get the Government out of a hole.

@VinylDetective - the part that stuck out to me was a fairly long discussion about the dynamics around how Cummings ended up in the position he did. The speculation was that we have a lot of very well educated people in the cabinet but not actually intelligent and they know it. Cummings had the confidence to make out he knows what he’s talking about and BJ in particular is happy to let someone else deal with the details while he plays front man.

O’Brien happily stated that he doesn’t have any inside sources but I do value his speculative opinion because he’s dealt with BJ for a long time. He’s unfortunately not much wiser than anyone else about what’s going on behind closed doors and I’m guessing will have been as surprised as anyone else Cummings ended up going today.

I should say that the Cummings discussion was the last topic so maybe half an hourish? Just in case that changes your mind about listening
