To worry about my children having the same birthday month?

Sounds nuts but after some opinions as bit delicate to ask friends...

I had a miscarriage two months ago and obviously very keen to conceive again soon. Last month didn't work for us, so here we are. Problem is, if I conceive this month we would be due in August, which is the same month as my first was born.

Realise this is completely hypothetical as don't even know if I will conceive this month but hopefully the info above will make it a bit clearer about why I'm reluctant to skip a month.

Am I selfish to consider it this month? Do you have children with birthdays close together and how is it?

Thanks for reading x

Two of mine have a birthday day after each other. It's ok now, but has been stressful in the past organising parties for both!

Poppyismyfavourite · 12/11/2020 18:14

@Whatthechicken aw that's lovely!
We used to say that my brother was my birthday present. I also got a swing which has obviously long since rusted and been thrown out!

Rumblebear · 12/11/2020 18:15

My DC are same day 2 years apart. They're young still but eldest likes being "a sort of twin" with their younger sibling!

MustardMitt · 12/11/2020 18:16

My twins’ birthday is two weeks after Christmas. It’s a terrible time to have a birthday!

You’re being a bit daft.

Imanessexgirlgetmeoutofhere · 12/11/2020 18:17

My children are 3yrs apart and both born in the same month. Its a running joke with friends that I only get pregnant at a particular time of year! The only negative for me is their birthdays are within 6 and 9wks of Christmas so not only financially but I exhaust all my present ideas at Christmas leaving me stuffed for their birthdays!

Although........I will have an 18th and 21st not only in the same year, but the same month Confused

Whatthechicken · 12/11/2020 18:21

@Poppyismyfavourite What a nice thing to say that he was your birthday present! I don’t think my brothers thought I was a very good birthday present! They’d have taken a swing anyday!

Amber2384 · 12/11/2020 18:21

My sons’ birthdays are on consecutive days and they love it! It’s hard work for me as I have to organise two parties with their friends (one the weekend before their birthdays, one the weekend after), a joint family party, plus make their actual birthdays a bit special, all in one week (there is a lot of cake!) but it’s fun and at least I can then relax the rest of the year.

71HourAhmed · 12/11/2020 18:37

We have 2 in January a few days apart, 2 in February a couple of weeks apart, and my partner is December.. it's a struggle coming up with ideas so soon after Christmas, but it's manageable if I look at it the right way. We do end up sick of birthday cake though..

Someonesayroadtrip · 12/11/2020 18:48

Haha. I have twins and then another child's birthday 2 week later. It's manic and busy but more so because 2 weeks later is Christmas. So within 4 weeks ish I have three birthdays and Christmas. Kids don't seem mind.

HoxtonBonnet · 12/11/2020 18:51

Both my kids are a week apart in December - ShockBlush

No planning whatsoever was involved in their conception!

It is a pain only because it is December - it's a very expensive month for us....

Venicelover · 12/11/2020 18:57

Two of my sons were born 4 days apart.

We never had any issues with it except that I hosted a 4th at home birthday party 3 days after giving birth!!

leiaskye · 12/11/2020 18:57

My birthday is 8 days after my husbands.
DD13 is 8 days after me
DD10 is 9 days after her sister.

This makes me, DD13 & DD10 all with birthdays in the same month.

Never been an issue. When the girls were younger they had joint parties.
I do like it as it gets them all over with if not meaning all the expense comes at once - although we will have a 21st & an 18th in the same year!)

OwlBeThere · 12/11/2020 18:59

My daughters had the exact same due date, as it is they are 3 weeks apart. My sister and I are in the same month. It’s only annoying cos it’s extra money (and the month before Christmas).

clary · 12/11/2020 19:01

My DD was due the day before my DS1's second birthday.

She hung on for five days.

They are both summer babies, when small they shared a party, once they were older I did one big party and one small party (! they tended to alternate); it was fine.

When they were very young I used to get them both a joint big gift like a big garden toy (and other small things of course).

clary · 12/11/2020 19:04

Come to think of it, my birthday is six days before my sister's! The only issue I can recall is that as a small child I was puzzled how her birthday was after mine, yet she was two years older !! :)

ittakes2 · 12/11/2020 19:04

Sorry for your miscariage. My 3 sisters are all born within one week of each other. I also have twins. Birthday not an issue but worth considering do you want the youngest child in the class or the oldest?

BackInSeptember · 12/11/2020 19:07

My 2 DC’s birthdays are 4 days apart and it’s never been a problem.

Juanbablo · 12/11/2020 19:08

Two of my children have birthdays 7 days apart. We generally have family celebrations for them both at the same time and they have separate parties with their friends. Can be a pricey few weeks!

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 12/11/2020 19:12

My daughters birthdays are the 2nd and 29th may and it doesnt cause any problems. We celebrate them separately

Notanotherwooname · 12/11/2020 19:12

My 4 kids all have their birthdays within a 4 week window. Five of their cousins also have their birthdays in the same period...

It’s totally fine, they all love birthday month!

WanderlustWitch · 12/11/2020 19:14

Never even considered this to be an issue! My DDs have their birthdays 10 days apart and my DSs is a week later just into the following month. Can't see why you'd be concerned!

Smiling89 · 12/11/2020 19:21

My older sister and I have birthdays 14 days apart, my younger brother and sister have birthdays a day apart (so close to having the same birthday, mum went into labour on my sisters birthday). It has never been an issue - in fact we got bigger birthday parties as we joined ours together (cheaper for our parents).

My birthday is the day after my granddads - again not a problem. Loved that we had joint family celebrations.

username1724 · 12/11/2020 19:30

My 10 yo was born 17th, my ELCS for baby no 3 was going to be booked for 17th of the same month also so I had to request it to be changed to 18th which thankfully they were very accommodating about. Next year will be babys 1st birthday but im hoping my then 11yo will be OK. We will split it into 2 different weekends to celebrate and I obviously have 0 regrets about baby no 3.. I also share a birthday month with my brother and have never been bothered in the slightest, if anything it was more exciting!

BellatrixLestat · 12/11/2020 19:31

Two of my DC are 4 days apart. No issues at all Smile

I'm sorry for your loss Thanks

AlexisIsMySpiritAnimal · 12/11/2020 19:35

Myself and Dsis are just shy of 3 weeks apart, same month (now have a DH and 6 other birthdays in that month but that's beside the point) never caused a problem that I know of.
