To worry about my children having the same birthday month?

Sounds nuts but after some opinions as bit delicate to ask friends...

I had a miscarriage two months ago and obviously very keen to conceive again soon. Last month didn't work for us, so here we are. Problem is, if I conceive this month we would be due in August, which is the same month as my first was born.

Realise this is completely hypothetical as don't even know if I will conceive this month but hopefully the info above will make it a bit clearer about why I'm reluctant to skip a month.

Am I selfish to consider it this month? Do you have children with birthdays close together and how is it?

Thanks for reading x

Dps birthday is 1st, mine 2 days later, Ds is 5 days after mine and dd 2 weeks after that.

Both were prem though, one due mid December and other start of January

notalwaysalondoner · 12/11/2020 17:41

This is ridiculous. Of course it doesn’t matter. It’s not perfect but anyone who has TTC and doesn’t fall first month rapidly realises you can’t plan a baby perfectly anyway. Just go for it and if it’s meant to be it is meant to be.

Helloyouthere · 12/11/2020 17:43

We have 2 weeks between our boys birthdays.

I dont mind it. One year was great, instead of them both having parties we went to Chessington and stayed in their hotel.

kateybeth79 · 12/11/2020 17:45

My children's birthdays are 2 days apart and their birthday month is December 🤦🏼‍♀️

dontdisturbmenow · 12/11/2020 17:46

It took me 10 months to conceive number 2. Went to 12 scan, due date, birthday of the eldest! He came the next day!

Justsocross · 12/11/2020 17:51

My eldest 2 are 16 days apart and the youngest are 3 days apart . No problem for them expensive for us Grin

wineymummy · 12/11/2020 17:52

When your free childcare hours kick in on 1st September instead of having to wait until 1st January, you'll be glad of an August birth date.
(Says the mother of an early January birthday who had to wait until April for some funded hours.)

Tealuver · 12/11/2020 17:54

Mine are 3 weeks apart, in May. We like it because it's like a month of celebrations.
But when we were ttc we skipped the months that could end up with me giving birth in August because we feel like they are at a disadvantage at school (youngest in the year etc)

canonlydoblue · 12/11/2020 17:54

So sorry to hear about your miscarriage x My youngest two have 11 days between their birthdays. My soon to be four year old is so excited about having a big party with her little sister.

Sophagain · 12/11/2020 17:56

My boys’ birthdays are three weeks apart and I think it will be great when they’re grown men and can say shall we go for X big night out, event or holiday or whatever it may be for their birthdays.

Sakura7 · 12/11/2020 17:56

In my friend's family (two adults, two kids), all of their birthday are in the first two weeks of March. The kids' birthdays are three days apart. It's really not an issue.

In my dad's family, three of the five kids had birthdays in the same month.

LostAcre · 12/11/2020 17:58

All of my immediate family - me, my parents, my siblings - have our birthdays in the same month.

It was absolutely fine. And a fun month as far as us kids were concerned, because there was lots of birthday treats and fun. My parents always did separate birthday parties etc for each of us.
Only downside is that it can be a bit expensive having to buy all the family birthday presents at once.

Poppyismyfavourite · 12/11/2020 18:00

@Whatthechicken wow that beats even me!

Salamander91 · 12/11/2020 18:01

My youngest two both have March birthdays. They don't mind so far but only 3 and 4. The only issue I have with it is the expense of two birthdays in one month.

amusedbush · 12/11/2020 18:02

My brother and I have our birthdays a couple of weeks apart and I've never given it any thought.

However, my mum and her three siblings all have birthdays very close together around September. I suggested to my granny that Christmas must have been very boring in the 60's - she was not amused Grin

garlictwist · 12/11/2020 18:04

I have the same birthday as my sister (but I am 2 years older). We used to have joint parties as kids. I actually quite like it as I never forget her birthday Grin. In fact, for the past two years we have rather spookily both got each other exaxctly the same birthday card.

rooarsome · 12/11/2020 18:05

My 2 share a birthday (2 years difference). They like it.

MaggieFS · 12/11/2020 18:08

Two of my cousin's birthdays are a day apart. The younger one arrived a month early so even if you wait another month, they could still end up in the same month. Just go for it.

Poppyismyfavourite · 12/11/2020 18:09

@garlictwist for a second I thought you could be my brother! But I'm older!

lalafafa · 12/11/2020 18:10

my sister has 3 in the same month, December, its a complete pain in the arse

honeylulu · 12/11/2020 18:10

Mine are just under 3 weeks apart and actually the two kids and I all have our birthdays within 5 weeks. It's not a problem. It's quite fun!

Poppyismyfavourite · 12/11/2020 18:11

I also have a sister whose birthday is the month before mine and my brothers.
I always ask her who she's called first on our birthday - this year it was me *smug

JellyNo15 · 12/11/2020 18:11

My two share the same birthday three years apart. I was looking forward to the day they were 18 and 21 but the eldest was working overseas. My fiend has two of hers who share the same birthday and my sister's friend and her brother were both born in Valentine's day.

My two never seemed to mind. We used to go away rather than a party usually to a theme park.

Whatthechicken · 12/11/2020 18:12

@Poppyismyfavourite we made the National papers when I was born, my dad bought us a copy of each one, I’ve still got them. My brothers have never forgiven me for ruining their birthday party!

Bunnybigears · 12/11/2020 18:12

My boys birthdays are 6 days apart. They were supposed to be the same day but DS2 kept us waiting. Its not a problem at all. They each have their own special day but also if they want to do something expensive they can share.
