Dear vipers, I am going to ditch my husband's name and I have a claim to either Scott or Stone. I want to know which one of two sounds more glam, more posh.

Scott of course has a lot of associations, from Buccleuch down to Ronnie, Stone to me brings to mind Patsy, (not a bad thing).

Going through the separation roller coaster right now, and I desperately need cheering up. (NC for this, natch)
YABU - Wha hae!
YANBU - Rock and roll, baby!

What?

MyPersona · 26/10/2020 12:39

Stone-Scott

Nickysofttouch · 26/10/2020 12:39

Lost me at the use of 'naice'

Coldhandscoldheart · 26/10/2020 12:39

Stone
Sharon stone.

TurquoiseDragon · 26/10/2020 12:40

You don't have to stick to those two names, though. You could search around for something you feel fits you better, or even make one up.

Hollowtree3 · 26/10/2020 12:40

They are very similar. You would need to give us a first name to judge

MikeUniformMike · 26/10/2020 12:40

How about a compromise, and change it to Scone.

WitchesSpelleas · 26/10/2020 12:40

Stone is much cooler!

flaviaritt · 26/10/2020 12:40

I’d sound common as muck with either. Depends on your first name.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 26/10/2020 12:41

Scott! And ignore those who choose not to get it.

WunWun · 26/10/2020 12:41

Why didn't you do the voting so we could choose which name to vote for?

Stone is much better than Scott.

Chanjer · 26/10/2020 12:42

Drop first name as well and just go with Stone

I like this. Maybe I could go with Teacake, like Flossie.

@Nickysofttouch Halloween Grin Halloween Grin Halloween Grin
Not been on Mumsnet long then?

SenorFrog · 26/10/2020 12:45

They're both just regular normal names, nothing cool or 'naice' about either of them.

DameCelia · 26/10/2020 12:45

@notacooldad really?
Ok, I thought 'naice' had gone down in legend.

unmarkedbythat · 26/10/2020 12:45

Invent a new one and be the fabulous Ms Scottstone?

OwlOne · 26/10/2020 12:48

I like Stone more

Yesyoudoknowme · 26/10/2020 12:48

Noo! When you divorce you get the opportunity to choose whatever name you like - I know, because I did!

I would go for something easy to spell (maiden name was impossible) but not too common (Smith or Jones) but memorable. e.g. Braveheart - Go on, be Belinda Braveheart. or Blackadder.

Silverspring · 26/10/2020 12:48

But how would you pronounce Scone?

Would it be Scone or Scone? Maybe the archaic form Scooooooone?

I’d have to insist on the latter if it was me...
