Am I wrong to turn my nose up at this make of car? Hubby wants to consider them but honestly just the name doesn’t appeal to me.

Any one with a Skoda love or hate them?

The old jokes about them date from 40 years ago. They been owned and built by VW now. They're great cars.. A lot for your money.

BrexitIsAShitShow · 18/10/2020 21:58

I was so close to buying a kodiaq. Still regret that I didn’t

FourEyesGood · 18/10/2020 21:58

YABU. Skoda is a great make these days.

Bargebill19 · 18/10/2020 21:58

Love em. On our fourth. The last one was involved in a motorway accident involving two lorries and the crash barrier. Dh walked away from the wreck without so much as a bruise. Everyone was amazed. Car a write off and it was a lorry drivers fault.

BestIsWest · 18/10/2020 21:59

You are wrong and very behind the times. We have an Octavia and a Fabia and they are great. Have a look at where they rank in the JD Powers survey.

FlorrieMango · 18/10/2020 21:59

My DP loved his and regrets selling it for our Jeep!

Haggisfish · 18/10/2020 21:59

I loved my Skoda and would happily have another one.

chipsandpeas · 18/10/2020 21:59

skoda is pretty much a rebadged and cheaper version of volkswagens so worth buying these days

ellenpartridge · 18/10/2020 22:00

We have one and love it. We've had no problems with it and it has an absolutely massive boot.

AnotherEmma · 18/10/2020 22:01

YABVU

The Skoda Octavia and Skoda Fabia have won what car? awards for several years in a row. They are excellent cars. We bought a nearly new Skoda Octavia just over a year ago and no regrets so far.

ISeeTheLight · 18/10/2020 22:01

YABU. Love Skoda's. Almost bought a kodiaq (went with a Merc instead). They're brilliant cars. Good quality, VW underneath. Lots of bang for your buck.

Merrz · 18/10/2020 22:03

We have a Superb estate, love it. Had a VW golf before which I loved but needed something a bit bigger and couldn't justify the price difference between a vw estate and skoda estate considering they are essentially the same car with a different badge. Did toy with the idea for the same reason as you but 100% no regrets, it's been an amazing, reliable and incredibly spacious car and you get so much for your money!

LunaAzul · 18/10/2020 22:03

DH has a Kodiaq and I've binned off my Fiat 500 for a Scala.

I remember years ago taking the piss out of Skodas and I admit when we got the Kodiaq I was still a bit Hmm at having a Skoda but now my mind is changed.

jay55 · 18/10/2020 22:04

They are not the plastic skips they were when they first appeared over here. Go for it.

JoJoSM2 · 18/10/2020 22:04

People will have their irrational thoughts about stuff. If you’re bothered, but sth else.

yelyah22 · 18/10/2020 22:04

We've got a Octavia estate, it's an absolute JOY. Lovely to drive, comfy as anything, enormous boot, never had any problems with it. You're basically getting a VW with a less 'cool' badge.

mooity · 18/10/2020 22:05

We have a Kodiaq and absolutely love it. So many great features that you pay a fortune for on other cars. We’ve had ours since the beginning of the year and so pleased with our purchase. Lovely to drive and looks smart too. You won’t regret it!

DramaAlpaca · 18/10/2020 22:06

I've never owned one but I was pleasantly surprised when I hired one for a week recently. I really liked it.

WoahHeyThere · 18/10/2020 22:06

Audi, VW, Seat and Skoda are all effectively the same car underneath. You obviously get a lot more for your money with Seat and Skoda. I currently have a Seat and my next car will be a Skoda when the time comes. DH had a VW and now has an Audi, and whilst the Audi is very nice, it drives no different to mine.

inguildford · 18/10/2020 22:06

Have a kodiaq too - nice and big at a much lower price than comparable models.
As others say, it is a rebadged VW!

Icanflyhigh · 18/10/2020 22:06

They're great cars now and you get a lot of car for your money.
A top of the range skoda with all the bells and whistles is roughly the same price as a basic model VW, but has all the "stuff" of a top range VW.

The6thQueen · 18/10/2020 22:08

Superb owner - love it, love driving it, love the space. Feels very luxurious to me!

sbhydrogen · 18/10/2020 22:09

What do you call a Skoda with a sunroof?
A skip

I have driven a Skoda Fabia and it was the most boring car I've ever driven.

NannyR · 18/10/2020 22:10

I love skodas. All the engine parts are identical to VW, they even have VW branding on them - I've only had citigos but they are brilliant little cars, very economical and great to drive.

DollyDoneMore · 18/10/2020 22:11

Is it 1985?

Skoda cars have been owned by VW for 40 years, use the same basic platforms and engineering as VWs, Audis and Seats, and have brilliant customer satisfaction scores.
