Am I wrong to turn my nose up at this make of car? Hubby wants to consider them but honestly just the name doesn’t appeal to me.

Any one with a Skoda love or hate them?

Live my superb , dream to drive.

VirginiaWolverine · 18/10/2020 22:12

My mum and in-laws both have an Octavia, and they are lovely cars - comfortable, reliable, sturdy. My in-laws live in suburbia, and my mum lives in complete rural isolation and the car suits both their lifestyles, whether it's carrying loads of firewood through a forest or cricket gear to a training session.

Autumnchills · 18/10/2020 22:12

We have a Skoda Octavia and I love it! However I had a really crappy car before this one so may not be the best judge Grin

ultrablue · 18/10/2020 22:14

I'm looking at a Skoda estate for when our current car gives up on us...

I've always been a Nissan girl... But amliking the idea of Skoda's now... A few years ago I would have been Skoda? No way, but now...

LG101 · 18/10/2020 22:14

I know i feel bad as it should be a great car but I just have this thing in the back of my head it’s a Skoda.

I think we will take a look and maybe even test drive.

Im on my fourth.

Superb car (see what I did there?)

VW Engineering at a fraction of the Price.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 18/10/2020 22:15

My Karoq and DH’s Golf are practically identical, except mine is far better value for money. Our neighbours liked my car so much they bought one themselves. If you like spending more money then you need to, buy a VW or similar. If you like a car with a good spec that isn’t so expensive, buy a Skoda.

People used to be sniffy about Kia a while ago.

RHTawneyonabus · 18/10/2020 22:16

I’ve always owned Skodas. They’ve all been great. The first one I did 150000 miles in without any problems after that I think I’m sticking with them.

mrslol · 18/10/2020 22:16

We've just ordered a Kodiaq. It's a lot of car for the money and it comes with umbrellas stored in the door.

Woodlandanimals · 18/10/2020 22:16

Our Skoda is very good. Highly recommended!

j712adrian · 18/10/2020 22:16

Skoda. one of the grandes marques of European cars.

And owned by VW.

What's not to like?

middleager · 18/10/2020 22:17

I love my Yeti. Best car I've ever had. Everything about it is quality, at an affordable price.

Sexnotgender · 18/10/2020 22:17

YABVU!

I’ve got a fabia estate (Monte Carlo) and it’s fantastic. Possibly looking to exchange for a new one and will definitely get another Skoda, probably the superb estate.

AgeLikeWine · 18/10/2020 22:18

Of course YABU, as anyone who knows anything about cars will be very quick to tell you.

Skoda is owned by VW, and that has been the case for over 30 years. Skodas are just VWs with a different badge and a lower price ticket. They are also usually a bit bigger than the equivalent VW. That’s it. No more, no less.

LunchBoxPolice · 18/10/2020 22:19

I have a superb estate and it is the nicest car I’ve ever driven. So comfortable, spacious and has lots of little details.

ConfusedDotty · 18/10/2020 22:20

Sorry, but I just couldn't have one purely because of the badge. I am not brand aware normally, but when it comes to cars I could just never compromise, and I do feel a Skoda would be a compromise. Also, I have never seen an impressive Skoda.

randomchap · 18/10/2020 22:22

I love my skoda, it's 15 years old, done over 150k miles and still runs well.

It's a pretty dull and safe car, but that suits me.

GuyFawkesDay · 18/10/2020 22:23

I have a Karoq. Same engine as the golf. Drives brilliantly. Practical, has a tonne of gadgets etc.

Swapping it for another when my lease is up. It.wull be the first time I've been happy enough with a car to do this

leolion1 · 18/10/2020 22:23

@sbhydrogen

What do you call a Skoda with a sunroof? A skip

I have driven a Skoda Fabia and it was the most boring car I've ever driven.

That joke must be at least 30 years old
Gillian1980 · 18/10/2020 22:26

My first car, a long time ago, was a Skoda and it was like driving a tank! So heavy to handle.

But my current car is a Skoda Fabia and it’s so much better than my old one. My husband has a Ford Focus and it looking to change to a Skoda Octavia VRS.

Your view is definitely out of date.

CMOTDibbler · 18/10/2020 22:30

We had a Superb till this year, and it was brilliant. I could drive 4 hours and be totally fresh getting out

PolicecarOnAToe · 18/10/2020 22:31

I’ve just bought a Skoda citigo, previously had a VW Polo, and was a bit worried I wouldn’t like the Skoda as much. However, I absolutely love it. I only need a small car for during the week (we use oh car on the weekend) and it is lovely to drive, cheap to run etc. I would definitely consider another Skoda in future.

cyclingmad · 18/10/2020 22:32

Love my Skoda esp boot space!

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 18/10/2020 22:34

My dads on his 3rd Skoda. ( ocatavias). He's had everything from fords to nissans. And he really likes them. And it's comfortable being a passenger in it too

Elai1978 · 18/10/2020 22:34

I wouldn’t touch VAG rubbish with a shitty stick but seemingly Skoda are the most reliable of the VAG stable. Best of a bad bunch. In reality you’re better off with something Japanese, Toyota/Lexus & Honda will provide you with a much better car.
