When will the BBC wake up....?

OP posts:
TheYeaSayer · 20/09/2020 16:17

Pales into insignificance compared to some though, so I’m not sure why you’ve picked on LL.

These high salaries are ridiculous, though.

FrolickingLemon · 20/09/2020 16:20

Zoe Ball gets 1. Something million.

Tellmetruth4 · 20/09/2020 16:21

She’s worth it.

demelza82 · 20/09/2020 16:21

Good, she is great.

SunInTheSkyYouKnowHowIFeel · 20/09/2020 16:23

I can't work out if you are shocked that this is too much or not enough Op?

WinWinnieTheWay · 20/09/2020 16:24

I love LL.

However, footballers and TV people (and bankers) are paid ten times more than they should be, but I don't see it changing.

PersephonePromotesEquanimity · 20/09/2020 16:31

No one complains at the legions of useless men being paid the net worth of a small country.

What's the issue exactly? Is she suddenly responsible for capitalism? Or solely to blame for starving children? Maybe she's too silly to have any idea how to spend the money?

Very odd thing to wish to draw to our attention ...

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/09/2020 16:33

This.

RonObvious · 20/09/2020 16:34

I love Lauren Laverne. Not sure why you are picking on her though - plenty of outrageous salaries / bonuses out there.

XiCi · 20/09/2020 16:34

Good. I love Lauren Laverne.

No one complains at the legions of useless men being paid the net worth of a small country

Exactly this

unimaginativeusernamehere · 20/09/2020 16:36

Good for her

Callmecordelia · 20/09/2020 16:37

I can't get worked up about this. She's doing a highly visible job, is highly versatile (6 music and Radio 4) and this is probably the market rate for what she does.

NellyTimes · 20/09/2020 16:40

Wake up to what? What exactly is your problem with this? What a bizarre post.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 20/09/2020 16:42

I can't remember who the actual people were, but there was a load of news articles about some lady at the BBC getting a pay rise and some bloke getting a pay cut. The underlying tone that she was being a greedy cow while he was a fucking hero for only taking home a sum that was still more than the average person could even dream of was really depressing. Was that Lauren Lavern?

dontlikebeards · 20/09/2020 16:44

I can't work out what the op is getting at, is the op saying it's too much or not enough? If it's too much, why single out LL?

SantaClaritaDiet · 20/09/2020 16:45

@SunInTheSkyYouKnowHowIFeel

same!
AuntyPasta · 20/09/2020 16:45

Good. She’s very talented.

Varjakpaw · 20/09/2020 16:46

I'd be more worried about the myriad men paid way more for the hours work they do. She is on every week day at the crack of dawn. I certainly wouldn't want her job. AND she is fabulous.

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/09/2020 16:46

Is there a word for vague-booking, but on MN?

sst1234 · 20/09/2020 16:46

Lauren who? Yes exactly why this makes it even worse.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 20/09/2020 16:47

Gary Lineker gets paid 1.75 mil. I'd be more outraged by that to be honest.

crikeycrumbsblimey · 20/09/2020 16:48

Oh Mumsnet I do love you guys! I think LL is great, not so much repetitive threads on the BBC

SoUtterlyGroundDown · 20/09/2020 16:49

Good for her, she’s great.

liverbird10 · 20/09/2020 16:51

So?

popcornlover · 20/09/2020 16:51

She’s not very talented. Bottom class at everything she tries to turn her hand to. She owes her career to the fact she dated a music journalist when she was younger - she made all the connections she needed then dumped him.
Kerry Katona has more personality, and that’s saying something.
I can see why she might appeal to MNers though.
