I haven't had any really serious injuries , just a few cuts and bruises

OP posts:
Bluntness100 · 09/09/2020 21:59

I broke my ankle in two places,

Not an injury but after I had my daughter I developed full blown eclampsia and then post natal renal failure and spent a month in hospital with follow ups for a year after. Full recovery but it was touch and go and was in intensive care under heavy sedation for periods.

Between a broken rib, it was a very small break so much so they only noticed on the second look at my x-ray as I ended up I a&e with horrendous chest pain.

HelloDaisy · 09/09/2020 22:02

I had a car accident many years ago in which I broke my knee and ankle, tore my ear and smacked my head. Worst injury was definitely hitting my head as it resulted in no short term memory for 6 months!

Brigante9 · 09/09/2020 22:03

Trigger warning, very graphic picture in my next post. Very graphic!!

Brigante9 · 09/09/2020 22:05

Trampled by a horse. I had a skin graft and was off work for 3 months, then I had a clot then a bleed in my skull because of the blood thinners. Altogether a pretty shit time. Waves to horsey people who know me

ReginaaPhalange · 09/09/2020 22:05

I've broke my collarbone 5 times.

DalzielandPaxo · 09/09/2020 22:06

Oh wow, @Brigante9 !!! That’s a juicy one! 😨

MaskingForIt · 09/09/2020 22:07

Multiple broken bones in both arms and a broken neck. At the same time.

wegetthejobdone · 09/09/2020 22:09

I broke my little toe by banging it on furniture, it was a bad break and then I managed to faint and hit my face on the way down so I looked like I had been in a fight.

FAQs · 09/09/2020 22:12

@Brigante9 Is that your bone I can see!

Violetroselily · 09/09/2020 22:14

@Brigante9 jesus christ Shock close the thread now, you have won.

Do you have any residual problems from it?

Foxes157 · 09/09/2020 22:14

Dislocated my elbow as a teen. Very randomly and seriously outing way of doing it.

MrsIronfoundersson · 09/09/2020 22:17

Christ Brigante9 what size horse did that to you?! Awful!
I've chopped off the top section of a digit but nothing compared to that.

Prisonbreak · 09/09/2020 22:17

Wow! That’s impressive!
I’ve broke 2 bones and shattered 2 bones on my foot at once.

hadtojoin · 09/09/2020 22:19

Fell down the stairs and broke my hip.

dudsville · 09/09/2020 22:20

Jeeeeeze, I've literally clipped my nails too short, twice. Omg.

Itsrainingnotmen · 09/09/2020 22:22

Fell off a bar height stool at 4 and split my cheek open. I can still remember the Dr stitching it up while I was awake!!.
Ddog ran into me and discolated my knee cap once.

Merryoldgoat · 09/09/2020 22:22

@Bluntness100

That sounds so scary! I had a hypertensive crisis after my second son but as I was still under the midwives I was admitted as before the peak and was ‘fine’ after a day.

You must’ve been absolutely terrified, especially after just having had a baby.

OP - my worst injury was a sprained ankle which was so painful that I passed out in the street when I tried to stand on it.

Dartsplayer · 09/09/2020 22:22

Fractured coccyx - I will never forget the pain of trying to sit (I couldn't for weeks)

Brigante9 · 09/09/2020 22:23

@FAQs no, it”s the muscle. I had quite a lot of fat, good in a way as it meant the muscle wasn’t too badly affected. It looked very bad because of all the tissue surrounding the muscle that was subsequently removed when it went necrotic, very quickly. I heal very quickly, possibly not always a good thing as my skin just went black. Obviously all trimmed off in that photo.

@Violetroselily yes, my patella slips where she stood on me. No bones broken, but my knee now isn’t very stable.

@MrsIronfoundersson 17hh Irish draft. Didn’t hurt, she severed the nerves, I had no idea she’d damaged me til I pulled my trousers up to see the ‘bruise’. Hmm.

Merryoldgoat · 09/09/2020 22:24

@Brigante9

SWEET JESUS

BanjoStarz · 09/09/2020 22:25

Ahh, @Brigante9 if you’re the poster I think you are you’re the reason I wince whenever I see people in shorts at the stables!

Also horse related, I fractured my tibial plateau, tore my acl, detached my MCL, ruptured my meniscus and had to have plating and pins put in my knee to stabilise the fracture.

Spent 6 months in a plaster cast and 6 months after that on hydro and physio to regain movement in my knee - still haven’t regained full range of movement and have daily pain in my knee, hip and lower back due to gait changes as a result of the injury.

Clearthinking · 09/09/2020 22:26

Stepped up a brick wall and missed scraping shin and cutting a nice big flap out my leg! Then having an ectopic, not realising untill I was whisked to theatre how serious it was

Northernsoullover · 09/09/2020 22:27

Either my sprained ankle or my corneal abrasion.. the corneal abrasion wasn't serious as in life threatening but it was 'worst one I have ever seen' according to my ophthalmologist and possibly more painful than anything I have ever experienced. The sprained ankle did send me into shock though.

TimeStoleMyYouth · 09/09/2020 22:30

The most painful by far was a slipped disc.
A broken rib was also no fun at all, especially when lying down.
