To think women can look stunning with short hair?

Was watching Cliffhanger last night and the heroine had short haor and was just stunning. Likewise Demi Moore and Princess Di suit the look.
I do like my long hair and dont have the guts for a pixie cut as I have slight jowls. Following on from my. " all the girls now have big eyebrows" thread, I'm now observing that hardly any young girls have short hair! This has been done before and I'm prob just jealous of the long locks....but what was once a cool statement is no longer a thing. Why?

Short cuts look great on some women, I couldn't pull it off though with my frizzy birds nest I'd end up looking like a Cabbage Patch Kid.

I disagree that Princess Di suited it (no offence to her) but in general yes, lots of women look great with short hair.

I love my short afro hair. I have a skin fade and patterning on the side with loose curls on top. Never felt so confident!
This cut sounds beaut. And the fact that you're confident with it is even better. Very jealous of this cut - I would love to pull off a look like this but sadly it wouldn't suit me.

Frankie from the Saturdays looked stunning with short hair. She looked so beautiful. I actually preferred her hate short than longer.

I couldn’t get away with that but she’s so attractive

I recently had mine cut from 4 inches below my shoulders to cropped and feel amazing for the change. I don't care if my face looks fat, I'm experimenting with different colours and ways of styling it etc. Never been happier :)

Why is this even a discussion? I'm 50 and have had short hair - either pixie crop/short bob or something in between all my adult life. I can't stand having long hair - my hair is very thick and it takes ages to dry and is a pain to style if it's long. Whenever I think other women look good they've always got short hair. Long hair almost always looks crap IMO even when it's in great condition.

I think it's a real shame so few younger women have short hair and I was discussing this with DM and Dsis yesterday as Dniece has just had her long her cut and it looks stunning.

As for the suggestion that short hair's more effort to style. That's not my experience.This morning I got out of the shower, spent five seconds brushing it and then let it dry. I just get it cut every 7/8 weeks and then ignore it Grin

Some definitely do and others not so much
Some blokes look terrible with a grade 1 and others suit it.
Another thing with short hair which is it can look great with a really vibrant colour or bleached which doesn't always look so good on long hair.

I don't think short hair is more time consuming. I have mine cut every 5 weeks, so yes, more frequently than if it was long but I can wash and dry it in less than 10 mins.

Friends with long hair have to schedule their hair washes into their day/week Shock IMO the only long hair that really looks good has had a lot of time spent on it, tie it up and go is fine of course, but it doesn't look "good".

I have short hair and have done so for 30 years. I really couldnt cope with my hair any longer than it is especially all of the faffing around with hairdryers etc. I'm not young or petite nor do I have amazing cheek bones and according to one hairdresser my hair is disjointed whatever that means, but I like it. I did nearly shave the lot off during lockdown as I need to have it cut every 4 weeks and it drove me mad and I am probably more likely to shave it in a few years than I am to grow it longer and have an age appropriate hairstyle, whatever those are.

I’ve had short hair forever, mine is thick and grows outward so can’t have it any other way. I’m in my 50s. I do have to ‘style’ it but save time in washing & drying. I’d love to be able to hide behind long hair but hey ho. Also married to to hairstylist so that’s not an issue in lockdown

I shaved all my hair off on number 2 in lockdown and kept it between a 4 and a 3 since then. I think I look like a boy, but it’s so comfy that I don’t really care. I don’t have to take ages brushing, washing and drying it now. Just a quick scrub and good to go. Don’t have to mess around tying it up or getting it caught in or on clothing. And it was a godsend with the hot weather! I can’t see myself ever going back to long hair now

Quite a few well known women look far better with short hair than long. Kylie Minogue, Halle Berry, Frankie Bridge are just 3. I thought Penny in Big Bang Theory looked so much better and prettier with short hair

I love short hair. When mine was short there was too much faffing around to keep my wavy hair in order. My ideal would be a Vidal Sasson Sixties style geometric cut, sadly I don’t have the hair or face for it.

Love short hair. It really suits me. I do not have a particularly small face, neither do I have beautiful features but I can pull it off.

As long as you go for the right cut I think most people can pull it off. Not everyone can pull off a shaved head or a very short pixie, but there are many short hairstyles that can work.
