If he does it certainly won’t be anything to do with ‘health problems’

Thats what I was thinking. Do you really think he will leave you guys with a no deal Brexit and just crawl back under his rock?

He has said he definitely is not.

Perching · 25/08/2020 20:13

No.

But cummings really needs to go!!

linmanuel · 25/08/2020 20:13

I wouldn't put anything past him.
Dave left the country in a mess and fucked off

NetballHoop · 25/08/2020 20:14

@missmouse101

He has said he definitely is not.
@missmouse101 so that's a confirmed yes then Grin
IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 25/08/2020 20:14

I've never thought he would stick around. Like someone was quoted saying, he wanted to BE prime minister, and he wants to HAVE BEEN prime minister, but the hard bit in the middle? Not so much.

Especially given that he's going to be the PM of Brexit and Covid and fucking Barnard Castle, not the good time PM he always imagined himself as.

He's largely an incompetent lazy sociopath and I'd like to see him gone very very soon. Unfortunately he'd be replaced by Gove no doubt, who is a terrifyingly grim and reptilian prospect.

SabrinaThwaite · 25/08/2020 20:14

@missmouse101

He has said he definitely is not.
Best check with the decision maker in No 10.

That’s not Johnson.

Freddiefox · 25/08/2020 20:14

@missmouse101

He has said he definitely is not.
😂... he must be then, Johnson loves a u turn.

Wouldn’t surprise me if he resigned, Cameron did the same and it’s worked out ok for him.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 25/08/2020 20:16

@missmouse101

He has said he definitely is not.
He also said that he wouldn't pursue a career in politics back in the 1990's and has lied in every role he's held since, so perhaps best taken with a pinch of salt.

Compulsive liars tend to lie about their future plans as much as they lie about their pasts.

Leaannb · 25/08/2020 20:17

@NetballHoop...I was trying to word that sentiment politely. Thank You

Well none of the other who are shit or have fucked up have had to go.

But it's possible Cummings want Boris our and Gove in and so it's possible he'll engineer it.

DrManhattan · 25/08/2020 20:18

I thought we couldn't have worse than Theresa May but I was wrong. I dont know who could turn this around. Maybe Rishi and his free food *

  • not free, we will be paying for this forever
latticechaos · 25/08/2020 20:18

@missmouse101

He has said he definitely is not.
As Johnson is a man of his word this is good enough for me Grin
YNK · 25/08/2020 20:18

Demonic Cummings was always going to cut his strings once he's profited from a no-deal brexit.
He's just the front man who will get his turn of being the fall guy.
If you swim with sharks you must expect to be eaten.
That's just how it goes.

Touca · 25/08/2020 20:19

The sooner he goes the better but I find it hard to see him resigning.

itsgettingweird · 25/08/2020 20:19

And by engineering it I mean it seems an unusual co incidence this story broke from Cummings FIL Hmm

Lockheart · 25/08/2020 20:20

Do you really think anyone on AIBU has the answer?

Myothercarisalsoshit · 25/08/2020 20:21

It wouldn't surprise me in the least. Alexander is lazy and out for Alexander only. Now we're in the shit I expect him to move so fast he'll probably leave skidmarks.

MereDintofPandiculation · 25/08/2020 20:23

He has said he definitely is not. We'll take that as a "yes" then, shall we?

MrsHarveySpecterV · 25/08/2020 20:25

Is there any way that the public can demonstrate or petition for a general election in light of the government's performance throughout the Pandemic?? Please don't slate me if that's a stupid question. I've only recently taken an interest in politics and am confused by a lot of it.

Myothercarisalsoshit · 25/08/2020 20:27

No. They are within their rights to hang on right up until December 2024 because of the Fixed Term Parliament Act.

nanbread · 25/08/2020 20:28

There's have been rumours this would be the case for some time.

Demonic Cummings was always going to cut his strings once he's profited from a no-deal brexit.

I think Cummings will also resign (to a different but still influential role) to create the illusion they're "cutting the rot out" and helping the party to survive the shit show of the past 8 months.

The80sweregreat · 25/08/2020 20:30

I bet his happier times were the London mayor days. I bet he looks back and thinks ' blimey, that wasn't too bad'
There was a bit of argy bargy about the garden bridge and water cannons and the riots , but the Olympics went really well and generally speaking he had good approval ratings and it wasn't too bad. ( I know it wasn't all brilliant but it was better than this year has been for him )
Since mid December last year being P M has been grief. I agree that he was happy with the top job at first , but the reality is a nightmare. He isn't known for liking hard work and covid etc is a huge curve ball.
I know it's easy to be an armchair critic but it hasn't been great for him thus far and every week is a new bigger problem.
To be fair , he is a very positive person ( Dom is behind all that I'm sure) but mostly it's been pretty shitty all round.
If he goes , we could get Gove and he is more organized and that scares me even more.

timetest · 25/08/2020 20:31

I can’t see him hanging on. He’s not exactly a fan of hard work. He can say ill health and new parenthood, waffle on a bit about work life balance, chuck in a few Latin quotes and disappear into the sunset never to be seen again apart from on satirical quiz shows.
