It's extraordinary how much time and energy Johnson can put in to the utter nonsense of whether the words to Rule Britannia get sung at the proms, particularly given his lack of energy around all the pandemic problems and the way he was missing in action around the exams fiasco.

toastmeahotcrossbun · 25/08/2020 21:12

Yes wasn't it Gove who brought in Cummings in the first place. Aren't the Goves friendly with the Murdochs? I think I read that anyway

SchadenfreudePersonified · 25/08/2020 21:14

@missmouse101

He has said he definitely is not.
Yes - but he lies.

If he goes, he's jumping before he's pushed.

MrsTerryPratchett · 25/08/2020 21:14

"man of the people" Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson ...

Beat me to it.

Yes they are good mates. Gove is Murdoch’s man.

.... The Proms is the level of issue he can cope with

He's completely out of his depth with Brexit & COVID, which are v complex problems.
He's not used to putting in the hard work and the study, so he doesn't understand what's going on, let alone what to do,

JinglingHellsBells · 25/08/2020 21:17

If you knew anything about Cumming's FIL you'd know he is rather errrr.....unusual! I'd not believe a word of it.

JinglingHellsBells · 25/08/2020 21:18

@Leaannb Are you sure he wasn't talking about Dom?
Dom has always said he will go after Xmas and his job adverts for someone to lead his team made it very clear he wanted to leave early next year.

midsomermurderess · 25/08/2020 21:18

'Boris' is a persona he created at Eton, he was a bit of a misfit, a spotty oik, a scholarship boy among toffs. He family apparently call him 'Al'. He's completely made up, it's as if you could put your hand straight through him. He's a bit like Ripley, but without any kind of amazing.

BigChocFrenzy · 25/08/2020 21:19

BJ is an accidental PM nearly as much as May was:

Cummings, Murdoch and co had Gove all lined up after the ref ... but then he stabbed himself while attempting to stab BJ,
so we've had these few years of chaos since Cameron until Murdoch finally gets the PM he wants

Pixxie7 · 25/08/2020 21:20

I think he is too arrogant to resign, he has spent his whole life ducking and diving. I am sure he will find his fall guy before he resigns.

SabrinaThwaite · 25/08/2020 21:22

Gove ... what could possibly go wrong?

To ask if Boris really resigning
SoulofanAggron · 25/08/2020 21:22

I don't think he will resign. If he were so ill that he would have to resign for health reasons, he would do it now maybe.

He's one of the best things for the Tories' electoral prospects etc. I don't vote for them, but he's quite popular. He wouldn't leave unless he really had to.

Pepperwort · 25/08/2020 21:22

First all the crap about where he was, what was he doing, the photos are doctored; now this.

Someone somewhere is very very bored.

DontBeShelfish · 25/08/2020 21:24

@SabrinaThwaite Well that'll give me nightmares tonight.

thetrees · 25/08/2020 21:24

I'd put money in him being gone by this time next year.

Gove and Cummings together is a very scary prospect, dangerous ideologues both.

midsomermurderess · 25/08/2020 21:25

It's not about boredom. This wasn't an accident. One way or another, he is being edged out. And as soon as this started, his power, such as it is, started to leak away from him.

MarshaBradyo · 25/08/2020 21:26

Yes I’m not sure Gove would get the votes

Is that the same Dom who said he was going last September because he was going to have a major operation which he absolutely needed to have? The Dom who drove to Barnard Castle to test his eyesight?

generalh · 25/08/2020 21:30

All wishful thinking. He is too arrogant to resign.

Jaxhog · 25/08/2020 21:35

Well you know what they say - a week is a long time in Politics. Six months is an eon!

Who knows what might happen.

IDidntChoseThePondLife · 25/08/2020 21:35

I bet he does resign, he'll have played to his strengths and 'charmed' the conservatives into power and then they will replace him with Gove.

I really don't trust them at all, and can't bear all of the reports of cronyism and massive contracts awarded to unsuitable companies. I'm not a Tory voter, but there are some pretty decent Tories who I would trust to run an honest government, but this lot worry me.

Tanith · 25/08/2020 21:37

The question is not:
"Will Johnson resign?"

It is:
"Will we notice?"

RubyViolet · 25/08/2020 21:38

This exactly midsummermurdress.

He wants to deliver Brexit for the history books then he will be off to make his money. He wants money.

DopamineHits · 25/08/2020 21:38

But he may have more male relatives to make peers! Will February give him enough time?
