To ask how often you shower?

I only shower 3-4 times a week, to be honest. Is that gross? I especially will skip a shower if my hair looks good.

I do, however, change undies every morning.

gross, imo, but then I shower twice a day, sometimes 3/4 times. I never have baths so water usage isn't too bad.

zafferana · 15/08/2020 16:51

Bath or shower every day, usually before bed, but after exercise if it's running or something where I get sweaty. Twice a day if it's hot or if I feel or smell dirty.

Every second or third day - yuk! Glad I don't live with you.

Gwenhwyfar · 15/08/2020 16:52

"Btw you don't need to wash your hair everytime!! You can do a "body shower""

Yes, but in this case I find it easier just to have a sink wash. The whole point of a shower for me is that it washes your head and body at the same time.

Gwenhwyfar · 15/08/2020 16:53

"sometimes 3/4 times. I never have baths so water usage isn't too bad."

What? You have 4 times the amount of showers of a normal person, but your water usage isn't that bad! It's incredibly wasteful either way.

ILoveFood87 · 15/08/2020 16:54

Every morning and most nights. Quick shower only takes a few minutes.

Alwaysinpain · 15/08/2020 16:56

Who knows!

I have 2 showers a day- 1 30 minutes and 1 10 minutes [/quote]
That's ridiculous! 🤣

StripeyDeckchair · 15/08/2020 16:57

Every morning- it wakes me up & I'm a snuggle under the duvet, sweaty sleeper.

In the heat - when I get in from work (old building, no air con) & before going to bed.

SecretWitch · 15/08/2020 17:04

I exercise 5 times a week, so always shower on those days. On non shower days I do a sink bath. Clean underthings every single day.

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/08/2020 17:08

“I was actually trying to see why my DP smells bad even when showering twice a day. Even working from home.”

Ok, well if he’s just rubbing soap in with hands he’s not exfoliating dead skin off & sweat, sebum so a good scrub with a salux cloth every day would help him. You can buy Japanese soaps on amazon to go with it. None of this dove soap stuff, proper soap. It does make the shower harder to clean though because the amount of scum that comes off is unbelievable.

A shampoo brush would exfoliate the scalp when he washes his hair because that’s another source of sebum & he needs to treat his fungal skin with either a proprietary anti fungal cream/spray or apply surgical spirit to the affected areas daily to dry the sweat/moisture up that feeds the fungus. Fungus doesn’t go away on its own on the feet easily. It’s the perfect environment. He is literally an all you can eat buffet for the fungus without treatment.

Odaban is a very strong antiperspirant that you only need to apply nightly 2/3 a week.

Male hormones do seem to affect how they smell & it gets worse when they get older unfortunately. If you’ve had pets even neutered males smell worse than females & un-neutered ones stink. Those of us living with men are living with un-neutered male animals.

When I visit nursing homes you can tell rooms occupied by men by the smell.

Zippetydoodahzippetyay · 15/08/2020 17:08

At least once a day, sometimes twice. I do sweat a lot if I exercise, I also have a baby and get vomited on fairly frequently.

JeffreyJefferson · 15/08/2020 17:42

at least once a month

june2007 · 15/08/2020 17:53

For those who shower every day pluss more then I hope your recognise your priveledge. And how practicle is it for say a household of six to have showers twice a day?

Sunshiney1981 · 15/08/2020 18:03

There is a whiff (ha ha 😆) of first world problems about this thread.

2/3/4 showers a day?! What a total waste of water and what an ocd thing to do.

In a heatwave I can appreciate an extra super quick shower to cool off but every day in our temperate climate, no need.

misschoices · 15/08/2020 18:04

@june2007

Unless you're rolling around on dirt and feces- you're fine showering once a day or every other day.

For medical professionals- I would be showering everyday due to covid.

For farmers/meat plant workers- who have to handle dirt, waste. Etc, I would definitely be showering more often.

But the average person who works indoor, I don't think it's necessary to shower every single day or even twice just to feel 'clean'.

OP posts:
Pandacub7 · 15/08/2020 18:06

Every single night. I feel gross if I’m not freshly washed before bed. I like washing off the day.

Sunshiney1981 · 15/08/2020 18:13

I agree that it’s a ‘nice’ feeling, a bath or shower, but to make someone feel as though they’re ‘disgusting’ if they don’t do it every single day is weird.

As a PP says, unless you work in a particular environment or do hardcore exercise or it’s a heatwave, in our temperate climate it’s not necessary.

Sailingblue · 15/08/2020 18:18

I think 3/4 times a week is a bit lazy really. I wouldn’t rely on the earwax thing. I have dry earwax, don’t tend to get BO and am lucky on that front but I couldn’t imagine leaving the house without a shower. It takes no time at all and I honestly can’t understand why people who are mentally and physically well wouldn’t do it every day.

Sunshiney1981 · 15/08/2020 18:20

What if they’d left the house and oooooh ‘only had a wash’ and put on deodorant and clean clothes and underwear 😮?

Sailingblue · 15/08/2020 18:51

Sunshiney1981 Well it depends how thorough their ‘have a wash’ is really doesn’t it.

Flowers009 · 15/08/2020 18:56

my bf is like you, he will go a day or two without showering, me I'm everyday even if I been in all day I have a quick one. Always wash my private parts

DollyDoneMore · 15/08/2020 18:57

Every day, at least, and yes, I am judging you if you don’t.

LynseyLou1982 · 15/08/2020 19:01

Every morning and sometimes the evening too especially if it's been hot. I also like a bath in the evening 2-3 times a week.

shartsi · 15/08/2020 19:10

2 times a day. All of my life. My DC and DH also shower twice daily. If I go to the gym/run at lunch time I shower afterward, so 3 times on some days.

Because there's literally no need to for the majority of people :/ It's bad for your skin, it bad for the environment and only serves the soap making companies!
Twiningalldaylong · 15/08/2020 20:40

Every day. I'm prone to UTI s and need a rinse underneath every morning to keep on the right track. It definitely helps me. I have a full hair wash shower every other day.
