To ask how often you shower?

I only shower 3-4 times a week, to be honest. Is that gross? I especially will skip a shower if my hair looks good.

I do, however, change undies every morning.

Every morning without fail.

WingingItSince1973 · 15/08/2020 23:51

Every morning and sometimes evening too. In the heat last week was 3 times a day. I just hate going to bed all sweaty 😬😋

WingingItSince1973 · 15/08/2020 23:53

Me again! I must say for me if I dont shower everyday my skin feels like its crawling 🤣

Pjsandbaileys · 15/08/2020 23:59

I try to have a quick essentials shower everyday, I would have a second one if 7k going out in the evening. I get sweaty in the hear and have bladder issue so I'm very self conscious somebody might "know" Don't wash hair though maybe do it 3 times a week.

SkinnywannabeKBH · 16/08/2020 00:35

Every night mostly. The odd time we have skipped a shower some nights due to not loving much throughout the day but the majority of the time it's every night after the kids go to bed.
We shower our children 3 times a week with daily sink washes, although 9 year old is now beginning to shower pretty much every day.

Gwenhwyfar · 16/08/2020 09:43

". If I go to the gym/run at lunch time I shower afterward, so 3 times on some days."

Such a waste. If you've had an extra shower because of exercise, you don't need to have your usual 2, do you?
None of those people wasting resources by having 3 or 4 showers a day have given a proper explanation for their selfish behaviour. And I suppose they're not on water meters either.

Gwenhwyfar · 16/08/2020 09:46

Well said 001. Plus, you can WASH in the sink. People don't get this. On a day when I don't have a shower, I wash the parts that need to be washed in the sink.

OMG - why would you do that? How can you wash everywhere properly in the sink? Are you getting your feet in there and washing them?

Surely it's much quicker easier and more effective (unless you have some physical difficulties) to just jump in the shower... Confused

SerenDippitty · 16/08/2020 09:57

yes but no but...I have read it on Mumsnet (so it must be true), that sink washing is gross and grim because you’re not washing the filth off yourself, you’re just moving it around. Like people don’t know how soap works.

BadLad · 16/08/2020 09:59

Twice a day for me. I have one as soon as I get up, and one before going to bed.

They're about ten minutes each, although the water is only running for about three of those ten minutes.

grey12 · 16/08/2020 10:21

@Gwenhwyfar

A body wash is very different from a sink wash. You can't properly soap and wash your whole body on a tiny sink. It's easier to do it in the bath. Just tie the hair up and wash everything else!

Btw, I only wash my hair 1/2 times a week.

00100001 · 16/08/2020 10:36

Most people don't need to wash their entire body every single day though.

For example this is perfectly adequate for most people in most days.

Morning 1: shower and wash entire body and hair.
Evening 1: wash face, hands and pits

Morning 2: wash face, hands and armpits
Evening 2: wash face, hands and armpits

Morning 3: shower and wash everything.

And continue.

And SOME people won't need to wash their hair every other day either.

With exceptions for after exercise, swimming sweaty hit days, at beach, rolling round in mud etc...

And it completely different to washing baby in a baby bath or sink, despite the fact they will wee in the water etc.... Confused

People on MN are obsessed with cleanliness. Showering two times (or more) every day is a lot.

Penguin007 · 16/08/2020 10:39

Your example shows insufficient washing of the privates, bum and feet... Bleurgh!

00100001 · 16/08/2020 10:49

In your opinion.
My feet don't get sweaty or dirty on a normal day. I wear cotton or bamboo socks, they are breathable, and I'm not running round like a lunaticc... so washing them every other day is perfectly adequate.

They don't smell.

Despite what you think.

Jeschara · 16/08/2020 11:14

Twice a day morning and evening. X

SilverOtter · 16/08/2020 11:29

Usually twice a day. I just hate feeling dirty and I don't like to put clean clothes/nightclothes on an unclean body.

SilverOtter · 16/08/2020 11:31

I do feel that I perhaps shower excessively and it's not great for my skin, I just can't help itConfused

Gwenhwyfar · 16/08/2020 11:48

"You can't properly soap and wash your whole body on a tiny sink."

Why not?
There are two types of sink wash - wash the parts that need to be washed every day only or wash the whole body. You can use your hand, a flannel, etc. You don't have to sit IN the sink! Size of the sink doesn't matter.

Gwenhwyfar · 16/08/2020 11:50

The usual sink wash is 'pits and bits' so yes, the private parts get washed every time.

Just cut down slowly starting when the weather's colder.

Yes I can get my feet in the sink to wash them. Not both at once obviously.

Sakura7 · 16/08/2020 11:54

Don't understand people who take three showers in a day because of one exercise session. Surely you just time your daily shower for after your exercise? I can just about understand two showers in those circumstances but three is ridiculous.

SerenDippitty · 16/08/2020 12:00

I do a weekly Pilates class over zoom and have heard some of the other participants saying they’ve already showered. I don’t bother until after the class!

Exactly. Shower Monday morning, go to the gym Monday evening so shower again, no shower needed Tuesday morning because had one last night. Awful for the skin to be showering like that all the time.
