To only vacuum twice weekly?

BadEyeBri · 14/08/2020 17:50

Just reading another thread and someone mentioned vacuuming 3 (!) times a day. How often do y'all vacuum? Twice weekly in my house. I know we are lazy but it's grand, no one has died (yet?). I'm fairly sure there's nothing that will make me up my vacuuming levels either
Am I a full on dirty mare leading my poor DH into a life of squalor and disease? AIBU in not vacuuming more????

I do it every so often. Not as often as twice a week.

PickAChew · 14/08/2020 17:52

Fully, once or twice a week. Have hard floors downstairs so often just sweep around the dining table.

EhUp · 14/08/2020 17:53

Once a week is ample in my opinion (assuming no hairy pets)

midgebabe · 14/08/2020 17:53

You would have to be a very dirty sort of house to need vacuuming several times a week never mind day!

Hotandknackered · 14/08/2020 17:53

Omg three times a day! Do they have a baby/toddler?

GreyishDays · 14/08/2020 17:54

No children or pets then once a week is plenty. Actually we went for once a week when we just had the cat. It was fine.

I think the three times a day people probably mean a quick run round with a cordless vacuum, instead of a dustpan and brush.

ScorpioSphinxInACalicoDress · 14/08/2020 17:55

Every day if possible. Say, 5 times out of 7. Have hard floors and they ming otherwise as you can see everything.
Also told by an allergy specialist that actually, hard floors unless kept clean can be worse than carpets because carpets trap dust whereas it sits on hard floors waiting for unsuspecting noses to pass by.

Chasingsquirrels · 14/08/2020 17:55

Upstairs varies, paying ds2 to do basics after cleaner left so mostly weekly, but fortnightly would be fine.

Downstairs, probably 4 or 5 times a week - dogs, kids, me in & out of the garden etc.

Once a week, and I have a cat. I do run the flat mop over the wooden floor every few days though as cat fur seems to appear from nowhere.....

TheMumblesofMumbledom · 14/08/2020 17:56

Once a week maximum, we really dislike housework though and haven't had our cleaner back yet since Covid. And we have a really hair shedding dog, my crocs drag the fur up sometimes.

AriesTheRam · 14/08/2020 17:56

Once or twice a day.Ive got a cordless dyson so its not any hassle I just whizz round.

RuggerHug · 14/08/2020 17:56

Upstairs once or twice a week, downstairs every day, sometimes twice a day. But we have light carpets and small people who run around with biscuits.

AIMD · 14/08/2020 17:56

I’m lucky if I hoover once a week.
I aim for once a week as that seems to be adequate, u less there is anything specific to clean up.

user1487194234 · 14/08/2020 17:57

Cleaner does it very thoroughly once a week and I do it not so (at all ) thoroughly once a week

dementedma · 14/08/2020 17:57

Once a week, if that.

Hahahaaa we get cat hair dust bunnies in the corners that the cats then try to kill 😆

Twice a day most days. Atleast once. I'm not a clean freak and am actually a lazy bastard but 2 dogs a toddler and a baby who likes to roll it really does need it. Upstairs once a week as animals cant get up there.

hammeringinmyhead · 14/08/2020 18:02

Dunno. Every week? Ish? DS is nearly 2. No pets. All carpet or lino.

He's either awake and is scared of the hoover or asleep. DH takes him out in the garden so it's a palava.

LoeliaPonsonby · 14/08/2020 18:04

Since we got the cordless hoover, we use it several times a day for a quick whizz round - mainly after meals. Not really a proper hoover, but the hoover is used.

Ghostlyglow · 14/08/2020 18:05

Once a week

Sparklesocks · 14/08/2020 18:06

Once a week. But I have a handheld hoover which I might whip out more often if there’s a crumbs spill or localised mess.

Alwaysoutofreach · 14/08/2020 18:06

I hoover as many times as is required, only have carpet on the stairs, in 2 rooms and a rug, the rest is swept daily.

DappledThings · 14/08/2020 18:06

Couple of times a month maybe.
