To only vacuum twice weekly?

BadEyeBri · 14/08/2020 17:50

Just reading another thread and someone mentioned vacuuming 3 (!) times a day. How often do y'all vacuum? Twice weekly in my house. I know we are lazy but it's grand, no one has died (yet?). I'm fairly sure there's nothing that will make me up my vacuuming levels either
Am I a full on dirty mare leading my poor DH into a life of squalor and disease? AIBU in not vacuuming more????

I vaccum and bleach all our floors downstairs daily. But we have two dogs and a now crawling baby.
Upstairs gets vaccumed every few days and squeegeed every couple of months. The dogs don't go upstairs but we inevitably track dirt/hair up there so it needs it.

@BertNErnie

Can I ask which one you have and if you think it is worth the money?

TheWernethWife · 14/08/2020 18:28

Couple of times a week, have 3 cats. We have the GTECH plus the hand held one.

Used to work with a woman who hoovered every day at 6 am, would have hated being her neighbour.

Lucked · 14/08/2020 18:28

Living room needs doing 2-3 times a week sometimes more because we eat snacks and lunch in there. Kitchen swept every other dayish.

I am rather slovenly about the rest of the house and it is more like fortnightly.

We have a roomba but it hasn’t been any use in lockdown as it is to annoying to use when in the house. It will get its first outing in a long time on Monday when we are at work and kids are at school.

ButterMeCrumpets · 14/08/2020 18:30

Once a week unless I spill something.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 14/08/2020 18:30

One person household. Fairly open plan ground floor. Trees that like to shed through French windows. Shoes off (not because ‘hygiene’ - pure comfort). No pets. No carpet (but rugs).

Once a week.

FedUpofLockdown123 · 14/08/2020 18:33

Once or twice a day here. I have a 3 year old who leaves crumb trails every where she goes and an 8 year old who is in and all day bringing in grass, dirt etc.

I also have 2 cats but didn't actually think their hair was a problem until I bought a Shark. Now that was an eye opener 😳.

Upstairs and the stairs get hoovered once a week but will be more often now that my children are back at school and I've just recently got a dark carpet which shows every bit of fluff and crumb.

TheMarzipanDildo · 14/08/2020 18:34

I’m sharing a flat with students. I think we hoovered once in the past year BlushShock
I have decided that’s going to change!

TheMarzipanDildo · 14/08/2020 18:36

^ I do sweep the floor, however

BadEyeBri · 14/08/2020 18:36

@Shmithecat2 I don't honestly know. Sorry. I was just a bit shocked at 3 times a day. I freely admit that I am slovenly. One of my twice a week hoovers is the cleaner. It just doesn't bother me.
All the people who are hoovering everyday where the hell do you find the time or energy? I take my, probably quite manky, hat off to you!

I vac a couple of times a day downstairs as I have three young kids and make such a mess when eating! Upstairs about once a week.

fascinated · 14/08/2020 18:37

My goodness. Our roomba goes a few times a month, can’t say I notice a need for more. Dustpan and brush round the table after every couple of meals. What standards you all have!

2020iscancelled · 14/08/2020 18:38

Several times a day - but I have two dogs and two young children, hence LOTS of crumbs and dropped food and hair and general crap being dropped left right and centre.

If it was just me then probably a couple times a week to keep fresh because I have a cordless and it takes 10 mins tops to do the full downstairs

I move furniture and all that jazz about once a month.

Tbh yeah with pets I couldn’t imagine not giving it a quick wizz over once a day - like just after dinner when you’re getting ready to chill for the night. Quick whizz over with the cordless and a spray of fabreeze?

Everyone’s different I guess

GlassMarble · 14/08/2020 18:38

I have two vacuum cleaners. No pets but a messy teen.

A proper plug in vacuum cleaner used about once a month for a full hoover round.

Then a lightweight cordless thing that gets thrown around area as and when they look like they need it. Maybe every other day for lounge. Other rooms weekly.

bossyrossy · 14/08/2020 18:38

When we have visitors, but we haven’t had any since the start of lockdown.

purplechairandcat · 14/08/2020 18:38

Every other day but only because we have laminate which seems to get gross pretty quickly, plus two very furry cats.

RedCatBlueCat · 14/08/2020 18:38

Once a week.
Occasionally the hall gets a second hoover each week.
Kitchen floor needs sweeping most days.
2 cats and 2 kids here.

ILoveFood87 · 14/08/2020 18:39

Once a week here only 2 of us though

SummerNamechangeHappened · 14/08/2020 18:39

🤣

speakout · 14/08/2020 18:39

I don't know how people find the time.
Twice weekly here- although only carpets in one room downstairs,- otherwise a quick brush of the kitchen which takes seconds.
I don't have the time or inclination to deep clean and bleach my house frequently.

justasking111 · 14/08/2020 18:40

Two or three times a week, one dog been for haircut so not so bad now but the old one sheds all the time, ditto the cat. As for the bloody black flooring in the kitchen, I can hoover, sweep, mop, by the next day you would think it had not been done for a month. Also with all the windows open in this heat, bits of dead leaves are flying in all the time.

LordOftheRingz · 14/08/2020 18:40

I will see your two times weekly and go one less, and the DH does it.

I never stain my soul with vacuuming or ironing.

Namechange6005 · 14/08/2020 18:40

I like to hoover every day but if I can't be bothered I won't do it. I have 4 pets and 3 kids so Its good to get it done several times a week. I don't like seeing anything on the carpets that could be hoovered!

Catapultme · 14/08/2020 18:40

Weekly is fine. No shoes indoors, food stays in the kitchen.

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 14/08/2020 18:40

Downstairs once a fortnight.
Last did upstairs when Jesus were a lad.
