AIBU to think letting your kids eat McDonald's with you at least 4 times a week is disgusting?

Just that basically. I've recently noticed since lockdown has been lifted a neighbour heading out almost every night (sometimes afternoon) with their kids and coming back a short time later with McDonald's. It's been at least 4 times this week that I've. Noticed, I only noticed cause our dog is always sitting on the back of the sofa looking out the window and barks when the neighbours leave/come back. The kids are in and around the age of 7/8 (or there abouts) they did this pre-lockdown too, though.

I will add I am under no circumstances a Saint or healthy eater, I do eat takeaways, McDonald's etc. And feel bad judging but I feel like this is an awful way to feed your young kids especially at 9pm at night. So yeah AIBU? Happy to be called a judgmental bitch here.

Poor children to have to eat such slop. I’d not feed McDonald’s to a dog.

JessePinkmanYo · 07/08/2020 21:13

Yep. Course they do

Titsywoo · 07/08/2020 21:15

Mind your own business curtain-twitcher

TheAquaticDuchess · 07/08/2020 21:15

‘Disgusting’, really? You really think it’s deserving of such a pejorative word?

Blonde87 · 07/08/2020 21:15

Get a life.

Burntbiscotti · 07/08/2020 21:16

I'd hate to have you as a neighbour.

TheAquaticDuchess · 07/08/2020 21:17

Honestly, posts like this make me sad that I live in the suburbs. The thought that my neighbours might be peering out of their windows, judging the things that I do and calling me disgusting is so upsetting. I just can’t imagine being the kind of person who would watch my neighbours and describe their behaviour as disgusting. It upsets me that other people do behave that way.

Lilimoon · 07/08/2020 21:18

None of your business. Just keep your nose out.

Janaih · 07/08/2020 21:18

Sounds like your dog wants some mcnuggets.

TheFuckingDogs · 07/08/2020 21:19

My best mates kids are autistic and she’s going through a messy divorce - they’re picky eaters and it’s an easy option atm! Don’t judge

Feralkidsatthecampsite · 07/08/2020 21:19

My dc think I am cruel because I don't ever take them!! Their older sibling treats them occasionally!
Gross.

Port1aCastis · 07/08/2020 21:19

Blimey were you hanging out of your window spying and counting, oh I would have a field day if my neighbour was as nosey.

thistimelastweek · 07/08/2020 21:19

I really thought we would be asked to judge the estranged other half.
Your next door neighbour? Step away from the window.

FourEyedFreak13 · 07/08/2020 21:20

Hahaha was hoping for a nice laugh at this. Thanks. I'm not even a curtain twitcher, I'm literally just watching TV and the dog barks so I look out and see them.

I don't mean disgusting definitely too strong a word but I couldn't think of a better one for the title. I just don't understand how anyone can possibly enjoy McDonald's that much

Mind your own business
There is a whole host of reasons they might be eating McDonald’s on a regular basis. I have a child with LD and ASD who goes through food phases and will only eat one particular food at times of stress. It’s get that food or child won’t eat ( not McDonald’s in our case yet)
Nice to know there are such nosy and judgemental twats about though Biscuit

TeddyIsaHe · 07/08/2020 21:20

Maybe they have horrific mental health problems and the only way they can feed their children is to go to McDonald’s. Maybe they’re grieving. Maybe their kids are struggling without school and this cheers them up. Maybe they only eat broccoli all day.

I think I would inwardly judge also - but I also would take a second to wonder if there was something underlying that what happening.

Daisychainsandglitter · 07/08/2020 21:20

I was just going to say perhaps one of her kids is autistic and has a limited diet. Please don't judge people when you don't know what their circumstances are.

TweetUsOnFacebook · 07/08/2020 21:21

Very odd to be noticing what your neighbours are doing every day Hmm

PigglyWigglyWoo · 07/08/2020 21:21

They might only be getting a McFlurry or something which is okay every other day as a treat!

AriettyHomily · 07/08/2020 21:21

Maybe they just like McDonald's 🤷‍♀️

TheAquaticDuchess · 07/08/2020 21:22

Thanks. I'm not even a curtain twitcher

If you know how often your neighbour is getting McDonalds each week you’re spending too much time watching them and not enough living your own life.

You don’t live in the fucking panopticon. Stop monitoring your neighbours.

PlanDeRaccordement · 07/08/2020 21:22

Maybe aliens are forcing them to buy it because that the only Earth food they have heard of.
Really.

MuppetBabi · 07/08/2020 21:24

Get. A.LIFE!

ginandbearit · 07/08/2020 21:25

Yum lucky them ...actually no poor sods , can't they get to Burger King?
Seriously there's massive snobbery about those places , if the family were eating oven chips and basic burgers at home a few nights a week nobody would complain , spaghetti Bolognese is the same ingredients in a different shape as are other staples bought from Iceland or whatever and the mum has saved on cooking costs and other stresses. Not everyone can manage scratch cooing ...good enough is fine .

Ultimatecougar · 07/08/2020 21:25

McDonald's is no worse nutritionally than plenty of other restaurants or take aways and a lot better than some.

It's not ideal to eat takeaways or restaurant food multiple times a week, but plenty of people do. Do you judge the podgy middle aged man who eats out when away on business Monday to Friday?
