AIBU to think letting your kids eat McDonald's with you at least 4 times a week is disgusting?

Just that basically. I've recently noticed since lockdown has been lifted a neighbour heading out almost every night (sometimes afternoon) with their kids and coming back a short time later with McDonald's. It's been at least 4 times this week that I've. Noticed, I only noticed cause our dog is always sitting on the back of the sofa looking out the window and barks when the neighbours leave/come back. The kids are in and around the age of 7/8 (or there abouts) they did this pre-lockdown too, though.

I will add I am under no circumstances a Saint or healthy eater, I do eat takeaways, McDonald's etc. And feel bad judging but I feel like this is an awful way to feed your young kids especially at 9pm at night. So yeah AIBU? Happy to be called a judgmental bitch here.

"another neighbour did say they do it often and have done even pre-lockdown"

Bit mean to bitch with the neighbour about it Confused

I do agree 4 times a week is excessive! But there isn't much point bitching about it, it won't change their behaviour and makes you look a bit judgey.

(I would probably judge a bit but not discuss it with my neighbour or on mumsnet, so I guess I am still judgey but secretly so?!)

Mine your own business.

FourEyedFreak13 · 07/08/2020 21:44

I really just wanting a bit of Friday night entertainment so thought I'd post about it.

Although if I could I would change the title to "excessive" rather than "disgusting"

I also live in a street where everyone gossips and bitches about each other so it's just the norm here. I've never joined in till posting this on here.

I find it weird that you talk this over with another neighbour as well as know what the neighbours eat daily tbh.
Are you lonely?

Inastatus · 07/08/2020 21:45

Stop judging

AnotherEmma · 07/08/2020 21:45

So maybe they had over 4 days..

Nuggets and chips with water
Fish fingers and fruit with orange juice
Quorn wrap and fruit with water
Chicken and salad and orange juice

Do people actually know what mcdonalds sell?

Sounds good to me? Better than my kids eat at home...

roarfeckingroarr · 07/08/2020 21:46

YANBU, setting the kids up for a lifetime of eating issues

Ted27 · 07/08/2020 21:46

McDs do salads don't they? How do you know what's in the bag ?

FourEyedFreak13 · 07/08/2020 21:48

@ted27 obviously all I've seen is the bags, drinks cups and Mcflurry pots 🤷‍♀️

You must discourage your dog from being so nosy.

JadesRollerDisco · 07/08/2020 21:51

I used to love having a McDonald's on the way home from school/after school club and nursery. After my kids were done (quite late after I'd finished work) we would sometimes get a quick McDonalds on the way home. It's not like I was going to cook them anything better at home (and it took too long before bed so would have been just toast or something). Instead they got a chicken burger, chicken nuggets, beef burger, fish burger, fish fingers, chips/veg sticks/fruit, and maybe a donut or ice cream, washed down with milk, water or fruit shoot. And so did I! Otherwise sometimes I didn't get time to eat a proper evening meal at all. I'm not saying that's fantastic, but I knew they were fed and full, and could get them home to bed, before turn around to start back at 7.30/8am next morning. If the alternative is toast, ramen or ready meals then McDonald's is pretty good.

@PlanDeRaccordement

Poor children to have to eat such slop. I’d not feed McDonald’s to a dog.
I'd have disappointed not to see one of these responses 🤣 Every time...
FeelLiedTo · 07/08/2020 21:52

It is disgusting
The parent may as well feed them horse crap, it'll have more nutrients
Probably all overweight too

I knew someone where it wasn’t unusual for her kids to have McDs 3 times a week. Once they had it twice in one day.
She didn’t eat it of course, she made proper food for her and DH. One of her kids was the least fussy eater I’ve ever met as well, so it’s not like she wouldn’t eat what they were having. As she said she ‘couldn’t be arsed to cook for rhem’. That was her general theme of parenting though.

Grapewrath · 07/08/2020 21:52

Your street sounds horrible tbh, all that bitching and gossiping. It must be unnerving to thing about what they say about you too.

threesecrets · 07/08/2020 21:52

Your neighbours... do you live in a particularly rough area?

JadesRollerDisco · 07/08/2020 21:53

These days I try not to keep ice creams in the house because the kids are obsessed just want to eat them all the time. So we get them when the Ice cream van does the rounds. If we lived near McDs now I'd rather get McFlurrys. They're cheaper!!

LikeDuhWhatever · 07/08/2020 21:54

They should go to Five Guys instead. Their little hamburger is to die for and they have the PERFECT chips!

eddiemairswife · 07/08/2020 21:54

I had a cheeseburger about 20 years ago when the drive-through put it in my grandson's Happy Meal instead of chicken nuggets. I thought it was delicious, and would happily eat one again.
