Ocado wants me back....

EinsteinaGogo · 27/07/2020 18:01

After playing hard to get and ghosting me for 4 months.

Well tough luck, Ocado. I'm now going out with Asda, who didn't drop me like a tonne of bricks when the shit hit the fan.

Yes, they may not have the good looks and the quirky personality, but they are reliable, dependable and delivered the goods when you couldn't and wouldn't.

Anyone else getting 'come back, I miss you messages'?*

*i may well be fickle and see two shops at a time!

You seem to be going only on your own experience, @Housewife2010. There have been massive problems for those with delivery passes:

Word to the wise, @Housewife2010, you're coming across as smug and ill-informed. Not a great combo, so you might want to reconsider your posting style.

InOtterNews · 28/07/2020 13:57

Yes I got this message from Ocado as well.

They told me in March my cancer didn't make me vulnerable enough for an online delivery slot. So they can fuck off (yes I'm still angry).

Waitrose and Tesco have all my business now

I’ve checked me emails and it’s over 18 years since I started shopping with Ocado. Minimum of twice a month, often every 10 days, never less than £75, not unusual to spend £150-£200. I used to get loyalty vouchers from time to time and wine on our anniversary. My delivery pass ran out in February and I hadn’t renewed it, although I had placed an order.

Throughout the mid March period until the last couple of weeks I couldn’t even get on the site. Now I’m being inundated with emails and texts talking about my loyalty 🙄

Too late, I’ve been wooed by another. Loyalty cuts both ways.

CountessDracula · 28/07/2020 14:24

I've binned them too and written to the to tell them why!
I am on the shielding list, I've been with them since the start and spent tens of thousands of £ with them, and despite this they wouldn't deliver to me as I hadn't had a smart pass this year (due to moving closer to shops and walking to do my shopping)

So I told them they can sod off and I will stick with Sainsbury's who have been brilliant and are much cheaper.

YorkshirePuddingsGreatestFan · 28/07/2020 14:27

Yes I'm getting tonnes of emails.

I did have Ocado Reserved and a delivery pass so when I got my shielding letter, I thought I'd be sorted. Then Ocado binned me off at short notice and cancelled shopping I'd already checked out leaving me with no shopping.

Apparently they could see I was shielding and that I had a delivery pass but because I didn't spend as much as other "most loyal" customers (probably because there's just me and one child living here), they were unable to continue to offer me a slot.

Another supermarket, who I only used occasionally in the past welcomed me with open arms and have delivered shopping every week to me. As they were kind enough to look after me when I needed it, I'm sticking with them now.

auntieElle · 28/07/2020 14:29

That really is appalling, @YorkshirePuddingsGreatestFan.

ritzbiscuits · 28/07/2020 14:34

Yes, I contacted them the other day and told them to stop sending me marketing emails!!!

Tesco saved the day during lockdown with click and collect. We've got into a new habit of going to Sainsbury's ourselves, but I will use Tesco periodically going forwards. Ocado never again!

TheDogsMother · 28/07/2020 14:41

I had an exciting nine week fling with Waitrose, then it was all over. In the subsequent six weeks there hasn't been a single slot available on any day, at any time. Nothing ! I've gone back to Steady Sainsbury's now. Not as cool but far more predictable. Click and collect works really well for us.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/07/2020 14:54

I must say, the combination of hearing how badly others have been treated and the imminent switch from Waitrose to M&S doesn't incline me to stay with them longer term. The only thing giving me pause is the thought that if we have another lockdown I'd hope to get priority access again. I was lucky before and it's served us very well. We have no car so it's deliveries or coming home in a cab or going to local shops several times a week for us, and with all of us at home all day during lockdown we've needed more stuff than normal.

Blerg · 28/07/2020 14:55

Interesting that experiences have been so different. We had to quarantine a few times and Tesco generally saved the day for us though I had to be on it to find a spot.

I was unimpressed that none except Tesco or Morrisons would let me even search for a slot for my parents- I was doing it for them as they are elderly. Ocado just had a massive queue and Sainsbury’s just knew I wasn’t high risk - but it wasn’t for me. Seemed shortsighted.

I have got regular farm deliveries and a milkman since to make we have options next time. I do generally just go to Waitrose and save slots for those who need them but we couldn’t multiple times due to illness.

NewtonPulsifer · 28/07/2020 15:00

Another one considering dumping Ocado. Shopped with them for years, and they are the best in terms of what you order is what you get. We have a smart pass. Covid hit and we couldn’t get any slots. Not even being smart pass holders and customers for years. Their prices have gone up, and I’d much rather shop with Morrison’s now.
Can’t stand Asda, too many substitutions that are bonkers. Biological laundry detergent for non bio. Wasabi paste instead of tikka paste. Waste of time.

NewtonPulsifer · 28/07/2020 15:01

Oh yes, and Waitrose. That’s one of the main pulls for Ocado. I like the values Waitrose have, so will also be shopping there too.

Deathraystare · 28/07/2020 15:38

I think if you have no desire to go back to them, let them know how you felt at being treated back then and how you are gong to vote with your feet (or should it be your click?)

I do not get deliveries but if one of those companies had dropped me or made it hard for me to get deliveries I would certainly have called them out on it.

Do correspond!

AlternativePerspective · 28/07/2020 15:58

What we need is for one of the tabloids to pick up this thread.

Individuals writing to them may make a difference, but it’s more likely to hit home if they are called out publicly, especially now that online shopping has increased and e.g. amazon are going to be doing amazon fresh for free, and increasing their delivery locations dramatically.

I actually haven’t shopped with ocado for a while, I found them too expensive, but I was looking forward to M&S coming online as I prefer them to Waitrose anyway. But now I think I probably won’t bother.

Have just had another email from them stating that ocado.com will be back up this week. Still no mention of the app.

dontcallmelen · 28/07/2020 16:03

@Housewife2010, I had a delivery pass shopped with them regularly spent a fair bit, I couldn’t even log in then suddenly two weeks ago started getting emails advising I could log in & delivery slots available, so no not all of us could get deliveries despite delivery passes being a regular & loyal customer.

CrepuscularCritter · 28/07/2020 17:34

Ocado was pants for us for the first month of lockdown, despite having a delivery pass and around 3 deliveries a month. I spent ages monitoring the seemingly endless queue at odd hours to find a slot. Then we managed to get fortnightly and now weekly slots again. As we are doing MIL's shopping too, that's been good. We tried Tesco, and they dropped our shopping on the doorstep 45 minutes before delivery time without a call on one of the hottest days of the year, making a defrosted puddle. Click and collect was good though. And Asda was cheerful on the delivery front, despite only bringing half the shopping. So I'm hanging on with Ocado at the moment.

This

My 87 year old mother was a loyal customer who had weekly deliveries, it didn't do her much good with Ocado. They may well have emailed her too but as she died in April (Covid) there's no way of knowing.

EinsteinaGogo · 28/07/2020 21:28

@nevermorelenore

Pft, you lot with your Ocado tea towels. They gave me a wipe clean, magnetic meal planner thing. Means I can doodle penises on my fridge when I'm bored.

Also, one Christmas many years ago I got a free bottle of wine and some mince pies. I'd take those again over any Ocado branded merch.

WHAT? A wipe-clean penis doodling board? And I only got a tea towel? They are double dumped for that.
😡😡😡😡😁

@iwantmyownicecreamvan, I'm very sorry to hear about your mother. Flowers

RubyTrees · 28/07/2020 22:32

After shopping regularly with Ocado since 2006, I'd got the cold shoulder since lockdown. Like so many posters on this thread, I've experienced the joys of the pointless virtual queues and now, the endless messages about my "priority access".

Today's one states:
"We’re reopening our shop this week, use your priority access today."

Oh wow Ocado, you're reopening your shop just for me? How lovely, it's such a shame I've moved on...

Crumpets111 · 29/07/2020 03:43

This thread has been mentioned on Trust Pilot and no it is not me, but reading through posts on there it seems many customers experienced the same issues.

Ocado have also been warned if you Google it, for staff members leaving 5* reviews during the pandemic when they were receiving a lot of negative feedback.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 29/07/2020 03:57

So who’s been getting those slots with Ocado as it seems thise shielding and vulnerable didn’t!

walchesterweasel September?!

Crumpets111 · 29/07/2020 04:03

God only knows but clearly we were all dumped!
