Ocado wants me back....

EinsteinaGogo · 27/07/2020 18:01

After playing hard to get and ghosting me for 4 months.

Well tough luck, Ocado. I'm now going out with Asda, who didn't drop me like a tonne of bricks when the shit hit the fan.

Yes, they may not have the good looks and the quirky personality, but they are reliable, dependable and delivered the goods when you couldn't and wouldn't.

Anyone else getting 'come back, I miss you messages'?*

*i may well be fickle and see two shops at a time!

@EinsteinaGogo

I'm not the only one then - I knew it!

It's not even the situation with needing to prioritise & offer vulnerable people slots: it was the absolute refusal to recognise any prior customer loyalty and the complete absence of acknowledgement.

I'm never playing second fiddle in this relationship again, Ocado.

(Unless it suits me. Ha!(

This was me, never got past the page of doom for months then three weeks ago bombarded with emails inviting me to book a delivery bastards!
Punkatheart · 27/07/2020 18:41

Same here - cancer patient and they wouldn't give me a priority slot, even though I have been a customer at two other addresses. Now they want me back but like a lover begging you when you are more attractive:

BOG OFF OCADO!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 27/07/2020 18:42

I used Morrison’s occasionally in lockdown. I’d never used them much prior to that. They were my hero’s.

Sainsbury’s wouldn’t entertain me as a customer despite me spending ££ a week usually. They still won’t deliver to me now.

I have recently been using ocado, but most their stock levels are rubbish and everything is bashed in the bags. So much damage.

EinsteinaGogo · 27/07/2020 18:42

[quote EmbarrassingAdmissions]But, if you don't go back to Ocado, you'll never get to meet Jesus in the Cabbage Van!

My final date was with Kyle in the Apple van.

I'd have dressed up more had I known it would be our last.

Ocado have been brilliant throughout BUT I am not a fan of overpriced M&S stuff so am contemplating LTB in September.

BeneathTheMilkyTwilight · 27/07/2020 18:42

Yep, me too, OP. They've been texting me, all attentive now it's too late and I'm stepping out with Mr Sainsbury and Mr Tesco...

Twatalert · 27/07/2020 18:43

I couldn't get a slot for the first few weeks of lockdown which still leaves a sour taste with me. I found out through MN that they were giving certain customers priority access and got offended because i wasn't one of them. After six years of Ocado. I suppose I didn't belong to their highest spending customers. So annoyed.

I got slots eventually. I will see how the switch to M&S goes. Quite frankly, Ocado products are not on par with waitrose and some of their replacements are shite. They better offer good value for money with M&S.

Also, delivery charge seems to be 6.99 by default. I changed my slot a few days for delivery and it was only 2.99 for the same day as before. I suppose I figured out an Ocado delivery charge hack.

Yes - BOG OFF OCADO.

(That's proper rubbish - hope you are doing ok xx)

I've had emails too despite being a long-standing customer and registered with the gov as priority they wouldn't let me order, even though they confirmed I'd been with them nearly forever so they can swivel.

Lackadaisically · 27/07/2020 18:44

Sainsbury's literally stopped offering slots unless you were on the shielding list. Can't hold it against them though as they were invaluable for my very elderly grandparents and took the stress off of my Grandad who would have had to get on the bus to get to a shop himself as it meant he could always access food whilst my Grandma was dying in hospital Sad obviously we all offered to help where we could but he is fiercely independent and being able to do his own shopping was important to him whilst everything else was falling apart.

Ocado had patchy slots here, no better or worse than Asda but there was a period of a couple of months where deliveries from anywhere were impossible to get.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 27/07/2020 18:44

My last ocado delivery was from Sarah in the raspberry van. Most confusing as Sarah was a 6ft strapping Spanish chap.

Chloemol · 27/07/2020 18:44

must admit at the start I was concerned, as was my mother both long term users, couldn’t get on, could not get any slots, sent in a number of complaints but suddenly it all got sorted and since then we have been able to order , first fortnightly, and now weekly with no issues. In fact I increased from monthly to weekly as I now do the shopping for my sisters family who are shielding. I can book three weeks in advance, and do. I wonder if it’s got anything to do with where you are in the country, we are near a distribution centre

Can’t wait for the M and S food, my list is ready

Mummyoflittledragon · 27/07/2020 18:44

I was a massive Tesco shopper and it was nigh on impossible for years. I flirted with Asda and got a bit of a relationship going with Morrison’s when Tesco floundered. Now I’m cheating on everyone with Tesco, Ocado and Morrison’s.

OhhhPeee · 27/07/2020 18:45

I’ve had several emails and texts.

They massively left me up shit creek during lockdown when they permanently cancelled my regular weekly delivery slot, I spent hours over several days trying to get another, I eventually managed to get one, did a gigantic order, placed the order, got a confirmation...never came. When I logged back on to my account (after queuing in a virtual queue again), there was no record of it. Customer services were completely unavailable and they had the audacity to send me promotional emails painting themselves as saints for giving priority to the most vulnerable. I’m sure society’s most vulnerable really enjoyed paying so much extra for their basics! Tesco were my saviours and I’ll be rewarding them with my loyalty from now on.

dontcallmelen · 27/07/2020 18:48

My last order was James in the Cabbage Van, not quite Jesus but nearly.

pepperycinnamon · 27/07/2020 18:49

Yes, we got that email as well. Unless they accept FSM vouchers they can fuck right off - I don't think I am their target customer Grin

Beautiful3 · 27/07/2020 18:51

Same here. Could not get a slot with them even though I have an account. Suddenly they're emailing me, telling me I now have priority access??!! Wtf?! Where were they when the shit hit the fan?! I'm not using them again out of principle.

DontTouchTheMoustache · 27/07/2020 18:51

This thread has made me realise my relationship with morrisons has been more stable and committed than any relationship so far in my 30s 😳
At least until I find a boyfriend I can reliably get my booze brought to my door.

verypeckish · 27/07/2020 18:51

They haven't come out of this very well, have they?

On the whole I'm quite glad I'm a shop shopper rather than an online one.

Floralnomad · 27/07/2020 18:53

I am getting on really well with Tesco , I ask for no substitutions unless it’s something I’m really desperate for and the quality and use by dates have been excellent . I’ve even signed up for a delivery saver now .

squidpid · 27/07/2020 18:54

I went crawling back to Ocado after I decided asda was shit as I kept getting loads of subs

AlternativePerspective · 27/07/2020 18:56

I have priority slots with sainsburys and Tesco due to shielding but had considered going back to ocado once M&S go on there.

However since they have taken their app offline and, according to one of their operatives, there is no guarantee it will be coming back, they aren’t going to be getting my business.

Same for Morrison’s (their app is from the same developer) although tbh I could never get any of the stuff I wanted on there...

pepperycinnamon · 27/07/2020 18:57

We got a slot each week and then they offered us a 'smart pass' with a regular free delivery slot. Once we signed up for a weekday slot at £2.99 a month we were suddenly unable to get any delivery slots whatsover so I complained and got a refund. This week I have had 3 emails from them encouraging me to place an order, as I said I get the FSM vouchers so I have emailed them asking why they don't accept them - it could be interesting reading their reply. Waitrose accept them and so do JLP.

ekidmxcl · 27/07/2020 18:57

I had poor treatment from ocado as well. Trying to get food delivered for an 80yo with lung cancer, who'd had a stroke, who had just been widowed and couldn't drive, no email account, no mobile phone, isolated 3hrs from us. Ocado just gave no shits, wouldn't help without me jumping through ridiculous hoops (like getting a letter from his GP, creating him an email account etc) and clearly didn't believe me. Tesco actually believed me, showed humanity and helped me get food delivered to him. Thanks to Tesco for believing me.

LizzieBennett70 · 27/07/2020 18:58

I've shopped with Ocado for 10 years, and not missed a slot over lockdown. My reserved was cancelled, but to be fair, the service didn't change for us and luckily I'd already got 4 shops ahead booked.

I love them, wouldn't change but we do also do a click and collect every 6 weeks or so with Waitrose to top up the stuff we're now struggling to get in advance of the M & S switch.
