Ocado wants me back....

EinsteinaGogo · 27/07/2020 18:01

After playing hard to get and ghosting me for 4 months.

Well tough luck, Ocado. I'm now going out with Asda, who didn't drop me like a tonne of bricks when the shit hit the fan.

Yes, they may not have the good looks and the quirky personality, but they are reliable, dependable and delivered the goods when you couldn't and wouldn't.

Anyone else getting 'come back, I miss you messages'?*

*i may well be fickle and see two shops at a time!

Aww and I thought I was special! Tesco has been good here, though Sainsburys got us through the first couple of months of lockdown. We’ll continue with click and collect I think for the foreseeable. It’s cheap and convenient and you can have a couple a week if you need to with just a £25 minimum basket. There seem to be plenty of slots available now so I don’t feel bad about it.

PotholeParadise · 27/07/2020 21:15

They've sent me two private messages asking for another date to rekindle things. I ignored the first one, but when they were persistent, I decided to give it another go. They were so keen they turned up for our date early last night and they had all the goods.

Let's just say that a good time was had by all. Halo

Yorkshiremummyof1 · 27/07/2020 21:18

I’m also getting spammed by Ocado, I was only interested when they were playing hard to get, they’re coming on too strong for my liking now.

The only deliveries I could get were with Morrison’s, and they’ve been good. Also was able to use the partners NHS discount.

@Haffiana

Another of these petty, idiotic, vicious threads about Ocado.

FFS, just fuck off and buy your food somewhere else.

This is one of the most hilarious replies to a thread I've ever read!

Ocado have really shot themselves in the foot in a big way over the pandemic.

No fucker offered us a supermarket slot, despite my Dh having shielding letter. We had to phone Tesco who gave us priority slots weeks in. Before that we had to rely on begged bags of shopping from kind neighbours and relations.

Ocado sent Dh a snotty "sorry, not sorry" email. Now they want us!! Tesco have been great (although they've let me down by their lack of sticking up for women).

I flirted with Waitrose last week but they failed deliver me any wine. Sad"Not in stock. No suitable substitutions". Yeah, right, there was no other wine available. At all. Hmm

You just make sure it remains on equal terms, @PotholeParadise . First sign they're taking you for granted, get back App flicking 🤪🤪

Ocado were the only place I could get a slot with (only every 10 days during the worst period ). However they got very expensive so I have moved back to Tesco / sainsburys and now getting the ‘you can have a slot every 5 days ‘ we miss you texts/ emails .

PunkrockerGirl59 · 27/07/2020 21:42

Yes Ocado offered all sorts of freebies when I signed up with them last year and I used them regularly. After lockdown however I was dropped like a hot potato in spite of having a husband who had to shield. Morrisons have been total stars for us throughout lockdown so when I get the email from Ocado I'll be telling them precisely where to stuff th their delivery slots. Morrisons will be getting my custom from now on because of how amazing I've found them during lockdown.

I was an ocado customer for 6years, placing weekly orders. During lockdown as a shielding customer I wasn't offered any priority, all emails went unanswered and when a slot was available it was £6.99. Asda emailed offering me priority slots, same time each week, free of charge. It reduced a great deal of anxiety for me and I cannot thank Asda enough. Yes the experience is different and more subs, but there is no way I would return to Ocado. Absolutely disgusted with the treatment I received and I felt sure I wouldn't be alone. Thumbs up to Asda!

ktp100 · 27/07/2020 22:19

We were very lucky to get priority fortnightly, then weekly Ocado deliveries throughout lockdown. It seems to me they prioritised customers who were paying the most for deliveries as most I know who've maintained slots were spending over £500 a fortnight.

If we hadn't got deliveries through lockdown I would be off.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 27/07/2020 22:35

*And sometimes, Bojangles Truffle thingies. Definitely loved me the most

AlternativePerspective · 28/07/2020 05:06

App is back online this week only for a select few customers according to their website, to see if it will work.

Added to which, Amazon fresh are set to make their deliveries free to prime customers from today, and to expand their areas vastly by the end of the year.

TBH I wonder if this is the beginning of the end of ocado...

KatherineJaneway · 28/07/2020 06:39

I found it was the luck of the draw when I logged in to get a slot or not.

They had that smug message on their front page saying if you are seeing this message you aren't one of the chosen ones (paraphrasing).

lifeafter50 · 28/07/2020 07:25

Hilarious-love it!😀

DobbyTheHouseElk · 28/07/2020 07:42

I’m too easy, I paid 6.99 as I was desperately in need of shopping. They’ve never given me free tobelone or bojanges truffles. They don’t even remember our anniversary.

I think I’ll Play harder to get in future.

ImAncient · 28/07/2020 07:51

It’s was Ocado’s snottiness to me that made me leave. Sainsbury’s were at least polite about why they couldn’t help me. I may be tempted back to Ocado once they join up with M&S to try them out but will most likely stick with Tesco.

FrenchBoule · 28/07/2020 08:00

I never managed to get delivery from Asda or Tesco during the lockdown( use to alternate between both).I didn’t mind as I can understand vulnerable people take priority, I can go to the supermarket.

They fucked me over (including Morrisons as well) by reducing their opening hours. I used to do my shopping after finishing work, out of a sudden I was unable to. I live in rural area with an hour commute to town where my work and supermarkets are.

Local corner shop bent over backwards to accommodate people, they even had stuff nobody has seen in town for weeks.

It turned out I actually don’t need weekly supermarket visits, local shop and butcher/ greengrocer a few miles away have filled the void perfectly.

On every 3 occasions I have visited Tesco the staff were rude and prices high( they took offers away claiming people will buy only what they need at full price). Bye bye Tesco, I used to spend most of money there.

Morrisons and Asda were much better.

Definitely changed my shopping habbits

Sertchgi123 · 28/07/2020 08:09

Yes getting emails from them saying I am now a priority shopper! They really cocked up earlier, letting down their loyal fan base.

MaggieFS · 28/07/2020 08:16

Yes! Ocado can go and weep over their texts and emails. All they've done is make me realise they aren't as amazing as I thought they were because they've forced me to try other online deliveries.

I've even been naive enough to recommend them on here because of their low rate of subs.

I was never organised enough for weekly online shops but used Ocado probably once a month, Sainsbury's perhaps twice a year a Tesco once in a blue moon. Despite being on the government's vulnerable list, Ocado didn't want to know. Sainsbury's allowed me weekly slots, as did Waitrose, even though I'd only ever shopped in store and so did Iceland even though I've never shopped there (I didn't use them, but registered in the early days when everything was a bit chaotic). Thanks a bunch Ocado.

Now I've got into a really good routine ordering online weekly and don't expect to change this new habit. I'm spending more than £100 a week, every week with Sainsbury's and this it only going to increase as DC get older. Rarely get any subs. It's been impressive.

Ocado, this could have been yours! Sayonara.

Mustbetimeforachange · 28/07/2020 08:21

No email, chocolates etc here, just a text saying slots were now available. Mind you I did tell them that it was the end of a lucrative relationship (for them) when they wouldn't help me out.

bookish83 · 28/07/2020 08:25

Haha same! No way Ocado you lose. Treated us terribly when we were shielding, accusing us of lying. Now they keep texting!

Sainsbury's will keep us for a long time now.

auntieElle · 28/07/2020 08:32

How did Ocado make such an utter balls up of this? Causing so much worry and stress in the process, especially to seriously ill people. Won’t go near them again, despite the emails and texts.

TW2013 · 28/07/2020 08:34

Have been seeing Tescos fairly regularly, though I always go to their place. Had a ONS early on with Morrisons but it is quite a long distance relationship so didn't last. Had a holiday fling with Asda at their place. I also am stringing along a few locals who are really good for basics, especially fruit and veg. Getting begging emails from Waitrose and Sainsburys but they provided no comfort in my hour of need.

copperoliver · 28/07/2020 08:37

I think it's just the luck of the draw. I couldn't get a shop with Asda. Tesco or Morrisons but got them with Sainsburys. Waitrose and Ocado. X

pepperycinnamon · 28/07/2020 09:06

@BrightYellowDaffodil

I even got a tea towel on our first date....

See, and I thought that was just me. I thought I was SPECIAL

We got a full set of the Ocado lorries which then toddler Dd loved playing with. You can stick your tea towel Grin
